Yes—the Galaxy S26 is cheaper in the U.S. as of October 16, 2026. Samsung lists the unlocked 256GB model at $899.99, down from $999.99, and the unlocked 512GB model at $1,099.99, down from $1,199.99. Larger discounts advertised by retailers and carriers can be real, but they generally require activation, a qualifying trade-in, an eligible plan or monthly bill credits.
Samsung’s official Galaxy S26 price drop
Samsung’s unlocked U.S. checkout price is the cleanest benchmark because it does not depend on a trade-in or a wireless contract. Both storage tiers are currently $100 below their previous listed prices.

These are U.S. prices for unlocked phones. Taxes, optional accessories and financing terms can change the amount charged at checkout. Samsung announced general availability for the S26 series on March 11, 2026, after pre-orders through Samsung, Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung Experience Stores and nationwide carriers.
Where the biggest advertised discounts appeared
Amazon promotions
Android Central reported an April 2026 Amazon promotion that reduced the base Galaxy S26 by $100, the S26+ by $175 and the S26 Ultra by $200. During that event, the 256GB S26 reached $799.99. That was a time-limited promotion rather than a permanent change to Samsung’s list price, so check the current seller, warranty and return policy before paying.

Best Buy unlocked pricing
Android Central reported April 2026 Best Buy discounts of up to $300 on unlocked Galaxy S26 phones. The base model was listed at $699.99 with activation and $799.99 without activation, compared with the $899.99 list price. The activation requirement matters: the lower figure is not an equivalent cash price if you do not intend to activate service.
Samsung trade-in credits
October 2026 deal coverage listed trade-in savings of up to $340 on the S26, $440 on the S26+ and $700 on the S26 Ultra. “Up to” is important. Your exact credit depends on the device, condition, storage and Samsung’s offer terms. A trade-in value should be treated separately from the phone’s cash price until Samsung confirms the amount for your handset.

Carrier bill-credit offers
TechRadar reported an AT&T promotion offering up to $1,200 off with an eligible unlimited plan and qualifying trade-in. Under that promotion, an S26 Ultra could be advertised at $5 per month. The headline saving is delivered through recurring bill credits, so leaving the qualifying plan early, upgrading before the credit period ends or failing another requirement can leave you responsible for the remaining device balance.
How to compare a real deal with a headline deal
- Start with the unlocked cash price. Use $899.99 for 256GB and $1,099.99 for 512GB as the Samsung U.S. baseline.
- Match storage exactly. Compare 256GB with 256GB and 512GB with 512GB; a lower price for a different capacity is not an apples-to-apples saving.
- Separate guaranteed money from conditional value. Record the checkout discount, then separately record trade-in credit, gift cards, activation rebates and monthly bill credits.
- Calculate the full carrier cost. Add the device payments and required plan charges for the entire credit term. Subtract only credits you are confident will post and include taxes, fees and any payoff obligation.
- Verify the listing. On marketplace listings, confirm that the seller is reputable, the phone is genuinely unlocked, the warranty is valid in your country and the return window is acceptable.
- Record timing and geography. Note the country, currency, date checked and promotion end date. Deals can disappear without changing the manufacturer’s list price.
U.S. versus international pricing
Prices outside the United States cannot be converted directly into a U.S. deal. TechRadar reported an October 2026 Amazon Australia promotion at AU$1,127 for the 256GB Galaxy S26, down from AU$1,549—a 32% reduction in that market. The Australian price reflects local currency, taxes, distribution and promotion rules; it is not evidence that the U.S. model costs the same amount.

Is the Galaxy S26 cheaper now, and should you wait?
Compared with Samsung’s former U.S. list prices, the answer is yes: the direct reduction is $100 for either storage tier. Retail events have produced deeper temporary cuts, including an $799.99 Amazon price and a $699.99 Best Buy price with activation. Carrier trade-ins can show the largest nominal savings, but they are best viewed as a multi-month service commitment rather than an instant discount.
Samsung said pre-order volume across Samsung.com, major carriers and national retailers was nearly 25% higher than for the Galaxy S25 series. Strong demand can make limited promotions less predictable. Waiting for Black Friday may produce another retailer discount, but no universal Black Friday price or worldwide lowest price has been established. If you need the phone now, the Samsung price is a transparent $100 reduction; if you can satisfy activation or trade-in conditions, compare the resulting total rather than the largest number in an advertisement.

What was the lowest reported unlocked Galaxy S26 price?
Android Central reported a $699.99 Best Buy price for the base model with activation and $799.99 without activation during an April 2026 promotion. Amazon also reached $799.99 during a reported April promotion.
Is a carrier trade-in better than buying unlocked?
It can be, if you already want the required plan and will keep it for the full bill-credit term. Buying unlocked costs more upfront but avoids activation rules, recurring credits and early-exit payoff risk.
