The Samsung Galaxy S25 is the better fit if you want a lighter, compact phone; the Xiaomi 17T favors a larger screen, bigger stated battery, faster wired charging and longer-reach telephoto hardware. Neither specification sheet proves which phone takes better photos or lasts longer in matched real-world use. In India, the store prices found for the phones were both ₹84,999 in the compared listings, but for different stated configurations—so check the exact SKU and current offer before deciding.

Hardware figures come from the Samsung US Galaxy S25 product page, the Xiaomi UK 17T specifications, and the 91mobiles comparison. These are regional pages, and manufacturer measurement conventions can differ.
How the size and screens compare
The S25 is 38g lighter on published specifications and has the smaller display. That makes it the more natural choice if pocketability, one-handed handling or a lighter device matters more than screen area. The Xiaomi 17T gives you a 6.59-inch panel with a higher listed resolution, while both manufacturers specify refresh rates up to 120Hz.

Both screens are AMOLED-family panels, but resolution and refresh rate alone do not establish which looks better in every setting. TechRadar’s June 2, 2026 review described the 17T display as sharp and vivid, while noting that dark details could look muddled; that is one reviewer’s observation, not a universal finding. Camera hardware: optical reach is not image quality
The S25 lists a 3× optical telephoto camera. Xiaomi specifies a 50MP periscope lens at 115mm equivalent and describes it as 5×, giving the 17T the longer nominal telephoto reach on paper. That does not establish which phone produces sharper or more consistent images: sensor size, processing, lighting and stabilization all matter, and the cited specifications are not a matched camera test.
The main cameras have similar headline resolutions—50MP each—with OIS listed for both. The 17T’s front camera has a higher stated resolution, 32MP versus Samsung’s 12MP, but megapixel count alone does not demonstrate better selfie quality. TechRadar praised the 17T’s camera versatility but reported some loss of clarity at 5× and image quality below the strongest camera phones it considered. That review does not directly compare it with the S25.

Battery capacity, charging and everyday endurance
Xiaomi lists a 6,500mAh typical battery and 67W HyperCharge; Samsung lists 4,000mAh typical and 25W charging. Those specifications give the 17T the advantage in stated capacity and wired charging rate, but they are not a controlled battery-life comparison. Actual endurance varies with usage, signal, display settings and other conditions. Xiaomi’s UK page says, “No power adapter is included in the box,” and recommends a Xiaomi 67W adapter or above.

Performance and software: what the available figures establish
The two phones use different processors, and their listed clock speeds are not enough to rank performance. 91mobiles reports Geekbench multi-core scores of 10,072 for the S25 and 6,860 for the 17T, but its comparison page excerpt does not specify test protocol, configuration, firmware or repeatability. Those are third-party comparison figures, not a controlled universal result.
In its review, TechRadar said the 17T handled app switching and 4K streaming smoothly. That is useful context for ordinary use, but it is not a matched performance test against the S25. Software versions also vary by region and rollout: the cited Samsung US page highlights One UI 7, while Xiaomi’s cited UK specifications and the TechRadar review identify Android 16/HyperOS 3 at review time. The available cited material does not establish a fully sourced, like-for-like update-duration comparison, so check current regional support details if update longevity is a deciding factor.

Price difference in India: compare the same configuration
Prices below are the India listings captured on October 7, 2026, not a guarantee of current stock or offers. The Xiaomi listing showed a from-price as well as a marketing price; Samsung’s cited price is for its 256GB/12GB configuration.
| India listing | Displayed price | Configuration and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi India phones page | From ₹69,999; ₹84,999 marketing price also shown | The cited listing does not establish a like-for-like storage configuration against the Samsung price. |
| Samsung India Galaxy S25 buy page | ₹84,999; ₹94,999 MRP also shown | 256GB/12GB configuration. |
| 91mobiles marketplace price labels | S25 ₹67,490; 17T ₹69,999 | Amazon-listed prices reported by 91mobiles; the cited excerpt does not establish matching storage, seller terms or stock status. |
The two Samsung and Xiaomi store figures do not support a simple price winner: one is a stated S25 configuration and the Xiaomi page shows a starting price plus a separate marketing price. The marketplace figures are also not demonstrably like-for-like. Check the live price for the same RAM/storage capacity, seller, warranty and return terms in your market before comparing totals. Samsung announced the S25 series in India in January 2025; launch offers are historical and should not be treated as today’s retail price. Samsung Newsroom India’s launch announcement.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy S25 if you prioritize a lighter 162g phone, a smaller 6.2-inch display, or Samsung’s listed 3× optical telephoto hardware.
- Choose the Xiaomi 17T if you prefer a larger, higher-resolution screen, a higher stated battery capacity, faster-rated wired charging, the cited 512GB option, or a longer-reach 5×-described periscope telephoto.
- Compare before buying if camera quality, battery endurance, software support or value is decisive. The cited material does not provide a matched camera or battery test, a sourced update-duration comparison, or confirmed like-for-like live prices for every configuration.
Because the cited hardware pages are for the US and UK while the prices are from India, verify the exact regional SKU, warranty and current offer where you plan to buy. A specification advantage on one regional page may not describe every local variant.
