At similar prices, the OnePlus 13R is the better hardware value for gaming, sustained performance, battery capacity and fast charging. It combines a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage and a 6,000mAh battery.

The Galaxy S25 FE is the better long-term ecosystem choice. Samsung adds wireless charging, Samsung-specific features and a documented seven-year Android and security-update commitment. Its Exynos 2400 chip, 8GB of RAM and 4,900mAh battery are less attractive for demanding users, so the final winner depends on your local price, storage tier and priorities.

Quick verdict

  • Choose the OnePlus 13R if you care most about gaming, sustained speed, battery endurance, 12GB of memory or faster wired charging.
  • Choose the Galaxy S25 FE if you want Samsung’s One UI and Galaxy-device integration, wireless charging, a more flexible Samsung camera experience or seven years of documented software support.
  • Recheck prices on the day you buy. Galaxy S25 FE pricing varies by storage and promotions, while the 13R’s current street price is regional and can change quickly.

There is no published laboratory battery test or cross-device benchmark for these exact retail variants in the available evidence. The comparison below therefore separates measured specifications and reported observations from conclusions that depend on your usage.

Performance: the OnePlus has more headroom

Chip and memory differences

The OnePlus 13R pairs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. That combination is designed for demanding games, sustained multitasking and heavy camera or video workloads. Its 256GB UFS 4.0 storage is also a fast storage configuration, which can reduce app-install and loading delays compared with slower storage standards.

The Galaxy S25 FE uses Samsung’s Exynos 2400 and 8GB of RAM. TechRadar found it responsive for ordinary activities such as messaging, web browsing, streaming and typical applications, but below average when workloads became demanding. The limitation is not that the phone is unusable; rather, it has less performance and memory margin before heat, throttling or app reloads become noticeable.

Gaming and sustained workloads

For a short session, both phones can run modern games. The 13R is the safer choice for long sessions because its Snapdragon platform and extra 4GB of RAM provide more headroom. Expect the most visible advantage in games that maintain high frame rates, emulators, large 3D titles and workflows that keep several demanding apps open.

The available material does not include a controlled, side-by-side benchmark or thermal test. Do not interpret the processor names as a guaranteed frame-rate difference in every game. Game optimization, resolution settings, room temperature and software updates can change the result. The evidence supports a hardware advantage for the 13R and a reported heavy-load weakness for the S25 FE, not a precise percentage lead.

Everyday use

For calls, social applications, navigation, email and video, the S25 FE should feel adequate. Paying extra for the 13R’s performance only makes sense if you will use that headroom. If your phone spends most of its time on light tasks, the Samsung’s software and support advantages may matter more than peak silicon.

Battery life and charging

Capacity and expected endurance

OnePlus lists a 6,000mAh single-cell battery for the 13R, substantially larger than the S25 FE’s 4,900mAh battery. Capacity is not the same as runtime, because screen size, modem use, software tuning and signal strength all affect consumption. It is nevertheless a meaningful advantage for travel, gaming and long days away from an outlet.

TechRadar’s S25 FE review says the phone generally lasts a full day, with about five to six hours of screen time in the reviewer’s use. Heavy camera or gaming use reduced endurance. That is a useful real-world reference for the Samsung, but it is not a laboratory comparison with the OnePlus. You should not turn the capacity difference into a guaranteed number of extra hours.

Wired charging

Samsung specifies up to 45W wired charging for the S25 FE. OnePlus specifies 55W SUPERVOOC in North America and notes up to 80W with optional compatible adapters in markets where that rate is supported. Charging speeds depend on the regional phone, adapter, cable, battery temperature and charge level; the 80W figure should not be applied to a North American unit automatically.

If you already own a USB-C charger, check its supported standards and wattage. A charger’s maximum output does not force the phone to draw that amount, but an incompatible protocol can leave you charging below the advertised rate. For the S25 FE, a 45W adapter that supports the required USB-PD/PPS profile is the practical match. For the 13R, use a compatible SUPERVOOC adapter when you want the phone’s fastest supported rate.

Wireless charging and sharing power

The Galaxy S25 FE supports fast wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare, allowing it to transfer power to compatible accessories or another device. The cited OnePlus 13R specification does not list wireless charging. That distinction matters if you use a charging pad at a desk, in a vehicle or beside your bed, or if you regularly charge earbuds from your phone.

Camera hardware and what it means in practice

Camera Galaxy S25 FE OnePlus 13R
Main 50MP 50MP Sony LYT-700 with OIS
Ultrawide 12MP 8MP
Telephoto 8MP 50MP, 2× optical
Front Not specified in the cited material 16MP

Main camera

Both phones have a 50MP primary camera, but equal resolution does not establish equal image quality. Sensor design, lens quality, stabilisation, exposure decisions, noise reduction and colour processing determine the final photo. The OnePlus main camera is identified as a Sony LYT-700 unit with optical image stabilisation. Samsung’s cited specification confirms the 50MP resolution but does not provide enough detail here for a direct sensor comparison.

Zoom and portraits

The 13R’s 50MP 2× optical telephoto is the stronger-looking specification for portraits, people at moderate distance and subjects where you want optical reach without relying on digital cropping. The S25 FE has an 8MP telephoto. TechRadar described the Samsung camera system as above average but said its telephoto trails rivals.

That does not make the Samsung unusable. Samsung’s processing, portrait rendering and camera interface may suit you better, especially if you already use Galaxy devices. The correct choice depends on whether you value the 13R’s higher-resolution 2× module or Samsung’s software treatment.

Ultrawide photography

The S25 FE lists a 12MP ultrawide, while the 13R lists an 8MP ultrawide. A higher megapixel count does not guarantee a better lens, but Samsung has more stated resolution to work with for wide landscapes and group shots. Compare colour consistency between the main and ultrawide cameras if you can test both phones in person.

Do not declare a camera winner from hardware alone

The available review evidence does not provide a controlled image set comparing these exact phones. Treat the camera decision as a focal-length and processing choice: pick the OnePlus for the more capable-looking 2× telephoto hardware, or the Samsung if its One UI camera workflow and image rendering fit your habits. Neither phone should be selected solely because both advertise a 50MP main camera.

Displays, size and handling

Galaxy S25 FE panel

TechRadar lists a 6.7-inch 120Hz Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display for the S25 FE. LTPO technology allows the refresh rate to adapt, while 120Hz can make scrolling and animation appear smoother than a conventional 60Hz panel. Samsung’s display is one of the phone’s strengths; TechRadar specifically described it as a great display.

OnePlus 13R panel

The 13R uses a slightly larger 6.78-inch LTPO 4.1 display with a 2780×1264 resolution and a 1–120Hz refresh range. The lower refresh floor can reduce power use during static content, while 120Hz remains available for compatible interactions. Its dimensions are 161.72 × 75.77 × 8.02mm and its listed weight is 206g.

The screen-size difference is small. Choose based on the shape and weight you prefer in hand, not on the diagonal alone. A case can also change grip and pocket comfort, so try each phone with the case you expect to use.

Software, updates and ecosystem

Samsung’s documented support window

TechRadar reports that the S25 FE launches with Android 16 and One UI 8 and receives up to seven major Android upgrades, alongside seven years of Android and security updates. That is the clearest long-term commitment in this comparison. It can improve the phone’s resale prospects and reduce the pressure to replace it solely because support has ended.

Samsung’s ecosystem is another practical advantage if you use Galaxy tablets, watches, earbuds or Windows integrations that rely on Samsung services. One UI also offers Samsung-specific settings and continuity features that are not replicated exactly on OxygenOS.

OnePlus software position

OnePlus’s cited launch specification lists OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. The supplied material does not establish a matching support duration for the 13R. Check the current OnePlus support policy for your country and model before buying, especially if you plan to keep the phone for five years or more.

This is not a claim that the 13R will receive poor support; it is a reminder that the documented commitments available for these two phones are not equivalent. Confirm the promised Android-version and security-update periods in writing on the regional product page or support documentation.

Price and storage value

Galaxy S25 FE launch prices

Storage United States United Kingdom Australia

256GB $699 £699 AU$1,199
512GB $799 £799 AU$1,399

These are TechRadar’s reported launch prices for 2025, not a promise of the current selling price. Samsung promotions, trade-in offers, retailer discounts and regional taxes can materially change the amount you pay.

How to compare the 13R fairly

The cited OnePlus information does not provide a current, universal retail price for every country. Compare the actual 13R price in your market with the S25 FE of the same or closest storage tier on the same day. The 13R’s listed configuration is 256GB, so a 256GB S25 FE is the most direct comparison when available.

Do not compare a discounted 128GB Samsung with a full-price 256GB OnePlus and then call the result a hardware-value verdict. Include the cost of a suitable charger if your chosen phone does not include one in your region, and account for trade-in credits only if you would genuinely use them.

Which phone is better for each type of buyer?

For gamers and power users

Buy the OnePlus 13R when sustained performance is the priority. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 12GB of RAM, fast UFS 4.0 storage and the larger battery form a coherent performance package. The advantage is strongest when you play demanding games, edit media, emulate older consoles or keep many large apps active.

For commuters and frequent travelers

The 13R’s 6,000mAh battery is the more reassuring specification for long days, while the S25 FE offers wireless charging when you have pads available. Decide whether you are more often away from an outlet or surrounded by convenient wireless chargers.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For photographers

Choose the 13R if a high-resolution 2× optical telephoto is central to your photography. Choose the S25 FE if you prefer Samsung’s camera software, want the stated 12MP ultrawide and value its broader ecosystem. For a definitive image-quality choice, evaluate sample photos from both phones under the lighting you actually use; the available evidence does not justify a universal winner.

For long-term owners

The S25 FE is the safer choice when update longevity is your main concern because the seven-year Android and security commitment is documented. That benefit can outweigh the 13R’s stronger hardware if you expect to keep one phone through several upgrade cycles.

For Samsung ecosystem users

If you already own Galaxy accessories or depend on One UI features, the S25 FE reduces setup friction and preserves familiar controls. Ecosystem convenience is difficult to express as a benchmark score, but it can be more valuable than a faster processor for daily use.

A same-day buying checklist

  1. Identify the exact storage tier you need. The S25 FE comes in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB variants; the listed 13R configuration is 256GB.
  2. Record the final checkout price in your country, including tax, shipping and any mandatory accessories.
  3. Check whether the seller’s phone is the North American 55W 13R version or a region that supports the stated 80W charging rate.
  4. Confirm the charger and cable included in the box, then budget for a compatible 45W PPS charger or SUPERVOOC charger if necessary.
  5. Verify the software-support policy for the exact regional model, particularly if considering the 13R for long-term ownership.
  6. Decide which matters more for your use: the 13R’s performance and battery headroom, or the S25 FE’s wireless charging, ecosystem and documented updates.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using battery capacity as a runtime guarantee: the 13R has a larger battery, but no controlled cross-device endurance test is established here.
  • Assuming megapixels decide camera quality: processing, sensors, lenses and stabilisation matter as much as resolution.
  • Applying global charging claims to every region: OnePlus lists 80W in some markets but 55W in North America.
  • Ignoring memory configuration: the S25 FE’s 8GB versus the 13R’s 12GB can matter for gaming and multitasking.
  • Comparing launch MSRP with a temporary sale: use current prices for both phones and the same storage tier.
  • Assuming equal update policies: Samsung’s seven-year commitment is documented; verify the current OnePlus policy for your market.

Final recommendation

When the Galaxy S25 FE and OnePlus 13R cost roughly the same, the OnePlus 13R offers better hardware value. Its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, 12GB RAM, 256GB UFS 4.0 storage, 6,000mAh battery and 55W North American charging address the needs of demanding users more directly.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Galaxy S25 FE offers better ownership value for a different buyer: someone who wants Samsung’s ecosystem, wireless charging, One UI camera features and a documented seven-year Android and security-update period. Because launch prices and promotions change, make the final decision only after checking the current local price for equivalent storage.
