Display: resolution and refresh rate
Samsung lists a QHD+ panel with a refresh rate up to 120Hz, while Motorola lists a 2780 × 1264 panel that can reach 165Hz. The higher stated refresh ceiling does not by itself establish that one screen looks better overall; resolution, brightness, color, software behavior and the content being viewed also affect the experience.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Cameras: two optical telephoto options versus one
The S24 Ultra pairs a 200MP main camera with separate 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras. The motorola signature lists a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto. On paper, Samsung offers a dedicated longer optical-zoom option; the listed specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos or video.
Battery and charging
Motorola lists a 5,200mAh battery and higher maximum wired and wireless charging rates than Samsung’s listed 5,000mAh battery and up-to-45W wired charging. These ratings describe capacity and supported charging speeds, not tested screen time or time to recharge in matched conditions. Actual results depend on usage, settings, temperature and the charger used.
Rank #2
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
S Pen and software support
The S24 Ultra’s built-in S Pen support is a practical distinction if you write notes, annotate documents or sketch directly on your phone. Motorola’s cited specification page does not list an equivalent built-in stylus. For software support, Samsung’s stated commitment is seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates; Motorola describes up to seven years of OS upgrades and security patches, while its UK page gives June 2032 as the scheduled security-update end date.
Price difference: what can be established
Samsung announced a US starting price of $1,299.99 for the 256GB Galaxy S24 Ultra, with US availability beginning January 31, 2024. That is the original US launch MSRP, not a current sale price. The announcement also offered 512GB and 1TB configurations. Samsung Newsroom US.
Rank #3
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
The official information cited for the motorola signature does not establish a region-specific price, and it does not establish current prices for both phones in one market. Therefore, a current price difference cannot be responsibly calculated from these figures. To compare offers, use the same country and storage tier, and check whether each listing is new, unlocked or carrier-tied, and covered by the same kind of local warranty. Motorola notes that availability and specifications can vary by region.
