The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a strong fit for people who want flagship features in a genuinely compact phone: it pairs a 6.2-inch-class 120 Hz display with three useful rear cameras, including a dedicated 3x telephoto lens. Its small size is its clearest advantage—and its main compromise if you prefer a large screen or longer-range zoom. Regional processor differences and a conflict in Samsung’s published update information also matter when choosing one.
What the Galaxy S24 gets right
The standard S24 is the smallest member of the S24 family. Samsung’s India specifications list it at 147.0 × 70.6 × 7.6 mm and 167 g, making it easier to carry and handle than the larger S24+ and S24 Ultra. Those figures apply to Samsung’s India listing; dimensions and available configurations should be checked against the specific market model.
Its display is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with FHD+ resolution of 2340 × 1080 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Samsung calls it 6.2 inches measured as a full rectangle, or 6.0 inches when rounded corners are accounted for. It offers a good balance for people who want a high-refresh-rate screen without carrying a large handset. The trade-off is straightforward: the S24+ and Ultra provide more screen area.

For a compact phone, the rear camera arrangement is unusually flexible. Samsung lists a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultrawide and 10 MP telephoto, with 3x optical zoom. That telephoto lens gives you a real focal-length option for subjects at moderate distance instead of relying only on a crop from the main camera. It does not provide the longer-range camera system found on the Ultra.

Independent reviews describe the S24 as a capable choice for everyday use and a meaningful upgrade for owners of substantially older phones. Android Authority characterizes the familiar main, ultrawide and 3x telephoto arrangement as versatile, and discloses that its review units were purchased by the publication (Android Authority’s review). TechRadar reports strong performance in its review, while noting the regional processor distinction (TechRadar’s review). Those are reviewers’ assessments, not a guarantee of identical results across markets or workloads.
Where the compromises show
Battery capacity does not tell you runtime
Samsung lists a typical battery capacity of 4,000 mAh for the India version. Capacity alone cannot establish how long a charge will last: screen brightness, signal strength, apps and usage patterns all affect endurance. The reviews available here do not provide a harmonized battery test that supports one universal runtime figure, so treat any individual reviewer’s result as specific to that publication’s test method rather than a promise for every owner.

The processor depends on the market
The S24 does not have one processor configuration worldwide. Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy and Exynos 2400 variants for the S24, depending on market. Samsung UK’s comparison page explicitly lists both for the base S24 (Samsung UK’s S24 family comparison). Check the model sold in your region before applying a review’s performance or efficiency findings: a test of a Snapdragon-equipped version does not establish the same result for an Exynos version.
How long will Samsung support the S24?
At launch, Samsung said the S24 series would receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. The announcement, published on January 31, 2024, described that commitment as applying to the series (Samsung Newsroom Singapore’s launch announcement). Samsung’s environmental report also records the seven-year commitment (Galaxy S24 Product Environmental Report).
Rank #3
- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
There is, however, a discrepancy in Samsung’s current documentation. A Samsung Gulf support page updated June 30, 2026, states four years of OS updates and five years of security updates, which conflicts with the launch commitment and the environmental report (Samsung Gulf’s processor and OS-update page). The conflict is not resolved by those sources, so it would be misleading to present the shorter schedule as a settled replacement—or to ignore the conflicting page when the exact current schedule matters. Update availability can also vary by region and carrier; a notice for one device model does not prove a worldwide rollout status.
Should you choose the S24, S24+ or S24 Ultra?
| Model | Best fit | What the comparison establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S24 | People prioritizing a compact, lighter phone | Samsung’s India listing gives a 6.2-inch full-rectangle display, 167 g weight and a 3x optical telephoto camera. |
| Galaxy S24+ | People who want a larger display than the standard model | Samsung’s comparison page positions it as a larger sibling; the cited material does not establish a complete set of comparable specifications here. |
| Galaxy S24 Ultra | People who want the largest S24-family model and longer-range camera capabilities | It is larger than the standard S24 and has a longer-range camera system; the cited material does not establish a complete set of comparable specifications here. |
The S24 is the natural choice when one-handed comfort and pocketability matter more than screen size or the Ultra’s extended zoom reach. If you watch a lot of video, work on a phone screen, or routinely photograph distant subjects, compare the larger models in person and check their exact regional specifications.
Rank #4
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Is the Galaxy S24 still worth buying?
It remains worth considering if you want a compact Samsung flagship, value the 3x telephoto over a two-camera setup, and can buy the correct regional variant at a price that makes sense for its age and condition. It is a less convincing fit if your priorities are a large display, a universally predictable processor configuration, or a fully clear current update schedule.

No current price or stock level is established here, and value depends on country, storage tier, seller and whether the phone is new or refurbished. Check those details at purchase time rather than relying on an undated price claim. Samsung’s India product listing also says a travel adapter is not included and that in-box contents may vary by country or region; confirm package contents for the local version (Samsung India’s Galaxy S24 specifications and packaging note).
