The Galaxy S20 FE is larger and heavier than the Galaxy S20. In Samsung Germany’s comparison of the specific models SM-G980F and SM-G780G, the FE is 8.1 mm taller, 5.4 mm wider, 0.5 mm thicker, and 27 g heavier. Its display is also larger diagonally, though it has a lower listed resolution.
How much bigger is the Galaxy S20 FE?
Samsung Germany’s comparison, last updated August 30, 2023, lists these measurements for the Galaxy S20 (SM-G980F) and Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G780G): Samsung’s Galaxy S20 vs. S20 FE comparison.

The height and width differences are the most consequential for pocket fit and one-handed reach; the added thickness and weight also contribute to a bulkier phone. These specifications establish the size difference, not how comfortable either device feels in someone’s hand.
How do their displays compare?
Samsung Germany lists the S20 display as 6.2 inches measured across the full rectangle, or 6.1 inches when accounting for rounded corners. The S20 FE is listed as 6.5 inches full rectangle, or 6.3 inches with rounded corners. Samsung says screen size is measured diagonally; the viewable area is smaller because of rounded corners and the camera opening. The same comparison gives the S20 a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels and the FE a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels.

That means the FE has the larger diagonal, but the S20 has the higher listed pixel resolution. Samsung’s U.S. launch material gives the S20 FE’s rounded-corner display measurement as 6.4 inches, rather than the 6.3 inches in the Germany comparison; the figures use different source and regional materials, so they should not be combined as if they were one measurement. - For a smaller body: The S20’s listed height and width are lower, making it the more compact of these two models on paper.
- For a larger display: The S20 FE has the larger diagonal measurement, while the S20’s listed resolution is higher.
- For a case: Choose one labeled for the exact phone model. The published dimensions differ, so do not assume an S20 case fits an S20 FE or vice versa. This recommendation follows from the dimensions; it is not a Samsung compatibility statement.
The comparison identifies the SM-G980F and SM-G780G versions. Samsung’s U.S. and Australian launch materials corroborate the FE’s physical dimensions and 190 g weight, but phone configurations may vary by market or carrier. Check the model identifier for a precise comparison.
