If your Galaxy S10’s display is visible but touch no longer works, connect a compatible USB-C OTG adapter and mouse, then use the on-screen Power off control. If the display is black or unreadable, Samsung’s Power-plus-Volume-Down shortcut is a restart—not a confirmed shutdown. There is no verified blind button sequence in the cited instructions for leaving the S10 powered off.
First identify what still works
- Display and touch work: use the normal power menu and tap Power off.
- Display works, touch does not: try a USB mouse through a compatible USB-C OTG adapter, then operate the visible menu.
- Display is black or unreadable: button combinations may restart the phone, but the cited Samsung instructions do not establish a reliable way to shut it down without seeing and selecting the on-screen control.
If the display and touchscreen still work
- Hold the S10’s Power key to open the power menu.
- Tap Power off and confirm if prompted. The shutdown requires selecting the displayed control; simply holding the Power key is not the documented final step. Samsung’s Galaxy S10 manual describes this ordinary shutdown method.
If the picture is visible but touch does not work
A USB mouse may let you control the phone without using its touchscreen. Connect a standard mouse through a compatible USB-C OTG adapter. If the pointer appears and the interface responds, open the power menu and select Power off as usual.
Samsung says mouse input through an OTG connector can help with an unresponsive touchscreen on some Galaxy phones; it is general Galaxy guidance, not a guarantee for every S10 adapter or setup. Check adapter compatibility. The display must remain visible: a mouse does not reveal menus on a black screen. Samsung’s guidance for an unresponsive touchscreen explains the mouse option.

Do not treat Power + Volume Down as a confirmed shutdown. The S10 manual documents holding those keys for more than seven seconds to restart an unresponsive phone. Samsung’s current frozen-device instructions say the corresponding forced reboot can take up to 60 seconds. A restart may bring the phone back on; neither instruction says it will remain powered off. If Maintenance Boot Mode appears during a reboot, Samsung says to use the volume keys to highlight Normal Boot and select it with the Power/Bixby key. That returns the phone to normal boot; it is not a shutdown method. Samsung’s reboot instructions describe this recovery step.
If you need the S10 verified off and cannot see or operate its power menu, arrange service or repair rather than trying recovery/download key combinations, a factory reset, or disassembly as an improvised shutdown. Those actions are not established as safe screen-blind shutdown procedures. A model-specific Galaxy S10 screen replacement guide describes a repair involving disconnecting the display; it rates the repair Moderate and estimates 1–2 hours. That is a repair guide, not a recommendation to open the phone solely to turn it off.
