To move eligible photos, videos, music, or other files on a Samsung Galaxy device, use the My Files app: select the items, tap Move or Copy, open the SD card, choose a folder, and confirm. The card must be inserted, and your exact Galaxy model must support a microSD slot.
Check whether your Galaxy supports a microSD card
MicroSD support depends on the exact model. Samsung India says Galaxy S21 models and later do not include an SD card slot, but check your device’s specifications rather than relying on the model family alone. Samsung’s Canada file-management guidance also notes that SD card support varies by device.
If your model has a slot, insert a compatible card. Card capacity and speed support are model-specific; the sources do not establish one capacity or card type that works across all Galaxy devices.

- Open My Files. Find the media under categories such as Images, Videos, or Audio, or browse Internal storage. Camera photos are commonly in Internal storage > DCIM > Camera.
- Select the items. Touch and hold a file, then select any additional files you want to transfer.
- Choose Move or Copy. Use Move to transfer the files and remove them from their previous location after the transfer. Use Copy to keep the originals where they are.
- Choose the SD card destination. Return to My Files Home, tap SD card, and open or create the destination folder.
- Confirm the transfer. Tap Move here or Copy here, as appropriate.
Samsung’s US instructions describe My Files as the route for this file transfer, rather than transferring files directly in another app such as Gallery. The available Gallery options can vary by device and software version. Samsung UK documents a separate Gallery workflow for moving images into an album on an SD card; see its SD card instructions for that approach.

Why some media cannot be moved
Files downloaded for offline use in a streaming service are often managed within that app and may not appear as ordinary files in My Files. Copyright restrictions commonly limit where those downloads can be stored, so they may not be eligible for this transfer. Samsung India discusses file management and these app-specific downloads in its Galaxy file-management guidance.
Use a PC for a large batch if needed
For a larger group of files, Samsung Canada also describes transferring files to a computer over a compatible USB data cable. Connect the phone, select the file-transfer option if prompted, and use the computer to copy the files. The exact prompts and settings can vary by device and region; Samsung’s file-management guidance covers the option.
