The Galaxy M36 5G is the better fit if you want a sharper AMOLED screen and more camera features; the Galaxy M17e 5G is the battery-capacity and lower-launch-price choice. Both have 120 Hz displays and long software-support claims, but their screen panels, camera systems, and India launch prices differ.

The figures are manufacturer specifications and announcements, not results from controlled, independent testing. They establish feature differences, but not which phone takes better photos or delivers faster performance in everyday use.
India launch prices and price difference
Samsung’s announced India launch prices show that the M17e began at a lower price, but the figures below are historical launch prices—not current offers. The M36’s lowest listed price included a stated bank discount.

Which screen is better for viewing?
Both phones list a 6.7-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, so scrolling and supported animations have the same stated refresh rate. The difference is resolution and panel type: the M36’s FHD+ Super AMOLED display offers more pixels and AMOLED contrast, while the M17e’s HD+ PLS LCD has lower resolution. A 120 Hz label alone does not make the screens equivalent.
Which phone has the more capable camera setup?
On published specifications, the M36 has the broader camera feature set: a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus 8 MP and 2 MP rear cameras. Samsung does not list OIS for the M17e, which pairs a 50 MP main camera with a 2 MP depth camera. OIS can help stabilize the camera, but these specifications alone cannot establish a real-world image-quality winner.

The M36 also lists a 13 MP front camera and Samsung’s launch announcement specifies 4K video recording from the front. The M17e has an 8 MP front camera and lists FHD recording. Choose the M36 if those stated camera and video features matter; do not treat megapixel counts as a guarantee of better photos.
Battery capacity and processor differences
Samsung lists a typical 5000 mAh battery for the M36, while its March 2026 M17e launch announcement specifies 6000 mAh. The M17e therefore has greater nominal battery capacity, but capacity alone does not predict hours of use: screen settings, connectivity, apps, and workload all affect runtime.

The M36 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1380 (5 nm); the M17e uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300. The available specifications do not establish a benchmark winner, so pick based on the other documented differences unless you can compare independent tests for your own workloads.

Samsung’s June 2025 M36 announcement says it will receive six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung’s M17e product page states six OS generations and six years of security updates from the first global launch date. These are similar headline commitments, but the wording and timing basis differ; consult Samsung’s regional policy details for how they apply to a particular device and market.
