The Galaxy M35 5G is the better fit if you want a 120 Hz display, a larger stated battery, stereo support, a higher-resolution ultrawide camera, or 4K video recording. The newer Galaxy M17 5G is slimmer and lighter, adds an IP54 rating, and comes with Samsung’s longer stated software-support policy. There is no confirmed, configuration-matched current price comparison, so check live offers for the same RAM and storage before deciding on value.

Which phone has the better display?
Both use FHD+ Super AMOLED panels. The M35 lists a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, compared with up to 90 Hz on the M17. A higher refresh-rate ceiling can make supported scrolling and animations appear smoother, so the M35 is the specification-led choice if screen motion is a priority. The M17’s listed diagonal is slightly larger: 6.7-inch class versus 6.6-inch class.

How do the M35 and M17 cameras compare?
Both phones list a 50 MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus a 2 MP macro camera. The M35’s ultrawide is listed at 8 MP, while the M17’s is 5 MP. The M35 also lists UHD 4K recording at 30 fps; the M17 lists FHD recording at 30 fps.
Those are differences in published specifications, not evidence that one takes better photos or video in everyday use. Camera results depend on the scene and shooting conditions. Samsung uses “No Shake Cam” for the M17’s OIS feature and notes that results vary with lighting and conditions.

Battery capacity and body size
Samsung lists a typical battery capacity of 6000 mAh for the M35 and 5000 mAh for the M17. Capacity alone does not establish which lasts longer in a particular person’s use. Samsung also publishes maximum video-playback estimates—up to 31 hours for the M35 and up to 18 hours for the M17—but these manufacturer figures are not a controlled head-to-head test, so they should not be treated as directly comparable real-world battery-life results.

Choose the M17 if lower weight and a slimmer profile matter more; the M35’s listed 222 g weight and 9.1 mm thickness make it the heavier, thicker phone.

Durability and software support
Dust and water protection
Samsung lists IP54 protection for the M17 and markets it with Gorilla Glass Victus. IP54 indicates limited protection against dust and water splashes; it is not a rating for submersion or pool use. Samsung cautions that water resistance can diminish over time. The M35 page makes a Gorilla Glass Victus+ claim, but the cited specifications do not list an IP rating for it.
How long Samsung says it will provide updates
Samsung states four generations of OS upgrades and five years of security updates for the M35. For the M17, Samsung states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, with the security-support period listed through September 30, 2031. These are Samsung’s stated policies, not a guarantee that every update will arrive on a particular date; the company says update plans may change. Galaxy M35 vs M17 price in India
Samsung Newsroom India announced the M17’s October 2025 launch prices as ₹12,499 for 4 GB RAM/128 GB storage, ₹13,999 for 6 GB/128 GB, and ₹15,499 for 8 GB/128 GB. Samsung described the lowest price as a net price that included a special launch offer; these are historical launch prices, not confirmed current prices. Samsung’s M17 launch announcement.

A Smartprix page updated October 7, 2026 showed indicative prices of ₹29,999 for the M35 and ₹18,964 for the M17. Those figures are third-party listings, do not establish that the variants match, and are not guaranteed transaction prices. Samsung’s own product pages showed “Not for sale” when checked, so they did not provide a current official price. Do not infer a reliable saving from the difference between those two figures. Which should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy M35 if
- You prefer its listed 120 Hz refresh rate.
- You want the higher stated battery capacity, while recognizing that capacity is not a runtime test.
- You value an 8 MP ultrawide, 4K/30 video recording, or listed stereo support.
Choose the Galaxy M17 if
- You want a lighter, slimmer phone.
- You value its listed IP54 rating.
- You want Samsung’s longer stated OS-upgrade and security-update policy.
- Its current price is lower for the same RAM and storage configuration, after checking seller and offer details.
The M35 launched in India in July 2024, while the M17 launched in October 2025. The newer launch date does not by itself establish better performance: Samsung lists Exynos 1380 for the M35 and Exynos 1330 for the M17, but these specifications are not a controlled benchmark comparison.
