For India-market buyers, the Galaxy M35 5G is the stronger fit if a 120 Hz display and larger stated battery matter most; the Galaxy A17 5G is worth considering for its stated six-generation OS support, IP54 rating, OIS main camera and microSD expansion. At launch, matching 6 GB/128 GB versions differed by ₹1,000, with the A17 cheaper. Those are historical launch prices, not a current price comparison.

What the spec differences mean
Display: M35 has a stated 120 Hz rate; A17 has the larger stated diagonal
The M35’s 120 Hz specification means its screen can refresh more frequently than a conventional 60 Hz display, which may make supported scrolling and animation appear smoother. Samsung’s cited A17 launch material specifies a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen but does not state its refresh rate, so a precise refresh-rate comparison is not established here. The A17 does have the larger published screen diagonal.
#1 Best Overall
Battery: M35 has 1000 mAh more rated capacity
Samsung lists 6000 mAh for the M35 and 5000 mAh for the A17. The capacity difference favors the M35 on paper, but it does not establish how many hours either phone lasts: screen brightness, network conditions, software and workload affect runtime. Both are listed with 25 W charging.
Cameras: A17 hardware is specified more fully, not proven better
The A17’s listed rear system includes a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus ultra-wide and macro cameras. Samsung describes the M35’s 50 MP main camera as “No Shake” and highlights Nightography and Astrolapse, but the cited launch announcement does not give a comparable full rear-camera specification. The available specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or video.

Updates and protection: documented A17 commitments
Samsung says the A17 receives six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from its first global launch date; Samsung notes that its policy may change. The cited M35 launch announcement does not state a matching support commitment, so these sources do not prove a definitive support-duration advantage in a like-for-like comparison.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSamsung lists the A17 as IP54-rated and says it has Gorilla Glass Victus on the front. Samsung cautions that water resistance can diminish and does not advise beach or pool use. The M35 announcement describes Gorilla Glass Victus+ but gives no IP rating in that source; that omission alone does not establish that the phone has no rating.

What the available specifications cannot settle
The cited Samsung material does not provide an independent head-to-head test of battery runtime, camera quality or processor performance. The different Exynos model numbers identify different chips, but do not by themselves prove which phone will feel faster or perform better in a particular game. Treat the comparison above as a decision based on listed specifications and Samsung’s stated policies, not a performance verdict.
