The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is the lower-cost pick for buyers who want microSD expansion and Samsung’s stated long-term update plan. The Nothing Phone (4b) offers a faster 120Hz display and a larger India-rated battery, but a recent listing snapshot put it ₹9,801 higher. That is a comparison of different memory configurations, not a like-for-like price test, so check the exact variant and live checkout price before deciding.

How much more does the Nothing Phone (4b) cost?
A 91mobiles comparison-page snapshot showed the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G at ₹21,999 on Amazon and the Nothing Phone (4b) at ₹31,800 on Amazon, a ₹9,801 difference. The snapshot was crawled recently in 2026; these are marketplace listing prices, not guaranteed checkout prices, and the configurations are not equal: Samsung’s cited model has 6GB RAM while Nothing India lists 8GB RAM, with both at 128GB storage. Confirm current availability, seller, configuration, and final price before purchase. See the comparison listing.
Which phone has the better display and battery on paper?
Display: Nothing has the higher refresh rate
Both phones use Super AMOLED panels. Samsung lists a 6.7-inch 90Hz screen at 1080 × 2340; Nothing specifies a 6.77-inch adaptive 120Hz display. The Nothing’s higher refresh rate should make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother on paper. These specifications do not establish a measured difference in brightness, color accuracy, or overall image quality.

Battery: the India Phone (4b) has the larger stated capacity
Samsung lists 5,000mAh and 25W charging for the M17. Nothing’s India product page specifies 6,000mAh for the Phone (4b); its general page gives a different 5,200mAh figure, so the India specification is the relevant one for this comparison. Nothing says the phone can reach 50% charge in under 30 minutes. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent charging test, and capacity figures alone do not establish real-world battery life.
What do the camera specifications tell you?
The M17 pairs a 50MP OIS main camera with a 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera, plus a 13MP front camera. Nothing lists a 50MP OIS main camera, a 119-degree ultrawide, 4K video, and a 16MP front camera. The available specifications describe hardware, not comparative photo or video results: megapixel counts and stabilization do not prove which phone takes better pictures. No verified head-to-head camera test is established here.

Storage, durability, and regional features
Expandable storage favors the M17
Samsung lists microSD support up to 2TB, using a hybrid SIM slot. That can be useful if you keep large offline media libraries, but using the hybrid slot for a memory card may limit SIM-slot flexibility. The cited Nothing product material does not establish whether the Phone (4b) supports expandable storage, so its omission should not be treated as confirmation that expansion is impossible.
IP ratings are not immersion guarantees
Samsung lists IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus for the M17; Nothing lists IP64 for the Phone (4b). The ratings describe different levels of dust and water protection, and neither should be read as permission to submerge a phone or as a statement about warranty coverage. Check the manufacturer’s terms for damage exclusions.

Nothing’s support information says NFC is unavailable in India. If you rely on NFC for contactless payments or other regional uses, verify your specific needs rather than assuming the feature is present because it may be available in other markets. Nothing’s support material also says the Phone (4b) box includes a protective case and a pre-applied screen protector. Nothing support.
