Which phone fits your priorities?
Choose the Galaxy M17 5G for display contrast and Samsung’s stated update plan
- Its Super AMOLED panel is the choice if you value AMOLED contrast over a higher refresh rate.
- Samsung specifies optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main camera and a 13MP front camera. Those are hardware differences, not proof of better photos.
- Samsung announced six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Its product page says this describes current plans and does not constitute a commitment or obligation; release content and timing may change.
- Samsung lists microSD support on its product specifications page, which may matter if removable storage is useful to you.
- The 25W charger is sold separately, according to Samsung’s product page.
Choose the moto g57 power for a higher refresh rate and larger stated battery
- Its 120Hz LCD has a higher listed refresh rate than the M17’s 90Hz AMOLED. The Samsung offers AMOLED instead, so the difference is the type of screen experience, not screen size.
- Motorola lists a 7,000mAh battery and 33W TurboPower charging, versus Samsung’s 5,000mAh and 25W. Capacity and charging wattage alone do not establish real-world battery life or charging time.
- Motorola lists stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headset jack.
- Its IP64 rating is higher than Samsung’s listed IP54 rating. These ratings describe protection under specified test conditions; they do not make either phone waterproof or replace warranty terms.
Screen, performance and storage
The two screens are close in diagonal size: 6.7 inches for the M17 and 6.72 inches for the g57 power. The more meaningful choice is Super AMOLED at 90Hz on Samsung or LCD at 120Hz on Motorola; Motorola also lists up to 1,050 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM). A higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, while the panel type affects contrast. These specifications do not establish which screen is brighter or more visible in every setting.
Samsung lists the Exynos 1330 and three India configurations, all with 128GB storage. Motorola’s cited support page lists the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Compare the actual M17 RAM tier and the local g57 power configuration at purchase; the listed specifications alone are not a controlled measure of overall speed.

Camera hardware: what the specifications do and do not show
The M17’s rear setup comprises a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro camera. The g57 power has a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide. Samsung therefore lists OIS and a dedicated macro module, while Motorola lists the higher-resolution ultra-wide. On the front, Samsung lists 13MP and Motorola 8MP.
Megapixel counts and feature lists cannot settle image quality. No comparable controlled camera results are available here, so choose by the features you expect to use rather than treating either phone as a proven photography winner.

Software support and durability
Samsung launched the M17 with Android 15 and One UI 7, and announced six generations of OS upgrades plus six years of security updates. Samsung’s product page qualifies its software information as a description of current plans, not a commitment or obligation, and says release content or timing may change. Motorola’s cited support page lists Android 16 but does not state an equivalent update duration. That source gap means the two phones cannot be compared on promised support years from these specifications alone.

Samsung Newsroom India announced these M17 launch prices in 2025. The base price was described as a net price inclusive of a special launch offer, so these are historical launch figures, not current offers.

How to make the final choice
- Pick the display you prefer: AMOLED contrast points to the M17; a 120Hz refresh rate points to the g57 power.
- Decide whether capacity or camera features matter more: Motorola lists the larger battery and higher charging wattage; Samsung lists OIS on the main camera and a higher-resolution front camera.
- Compare like-for-like prices: Match RAM and storage, verify seller and local variant, then compare checkout totals rather than relying on launch prices or a dated listing snapshot.
