The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is the better fit if you want optical image stabilization on the main camera, documented IP54 protection and Samsung’s longer announced software-support plan. The Galaxy M15 5G has the larger battery: 6,000 mAh typical versus 5,000 mAh on the M17. Both have 90 Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED displays and support 25 W charging. There is no reliable single current price gap to quote without checking the same RAM and storage configuration at the same retailer.

Which phone has the better battery?
The M15 has the larger rated capacity: 6,000 mAh typical, compared with 5,000 mAh typical for the M17. Samsung also lists rated-minimum capacities of 5,880 mAh and 4,860 mAh, respectively. That difference makes the M15 the clearer pick if battery capacity is your priority, but capacity alone does not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use. Samsung cautions that battery life varies with usage and network conditions.

How do the cameras compare?
Both phones have a 50 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP rear-camera setup in Samsung’s listed specifications and a 13 MP front camera. The key documented distinction is stabilization: Samsung lists optical image stabilization (OIS) for the M17’s main rear camera. The M15 launch announcement describes video digital image stabilization (VDIS). Those descriptions refer to different stabilization approaches and should not be treated as equivalent. The listed specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or video in a direct test.
What do IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus mean on the M17?
Samsung lists IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus for the M17. IP54 is not waterproofing: Samsung warns that resistance to water and dust can diminish over time and advises against beach or pool use. The official sources cited here do not establish an IP rating for the M15, so do not assume it has the same protection.

How much do the Galaxy M15 5G and M17 5G cost?
Launch prices are historical, not current offers. Samsung India announced these prices for the M17 in October 2025 and for the M15 in April 2024:

- You want OIS listed for the main rear camera.
- IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus, with Samsung’s stated limits, matter to you.
- You prefer the larger 6.7-inch display or the slimmer listed body.
- Samsung’s longer announced update plan is important: six OS generations and six years of security updates, subject to the company’s stated qualification that plans may change.
Consider the Galaxy M15 5G if
- You value its larger 6,000 mAh typical battery capacity.
- You find it at a meaningfully lower current price than the same-storage M17 configuration.
