To download a picture from a website on a Samsung Galaxy phone, open the page in Samsung Internet or another browser, tap the picture or its download link, and choose Download if prompted. Find the saved file in My Files > Downloads. The exact prompt depends on the website and browser.
Download a picture from a website
- Open Samsung Internet or another browser and go to the webpage with the picture.
- Tap the picture or the website’s download link. If the browser or site asks you to confirm, tap Download.
- Check the browser’s download notification or progress indicator to see whether the file has finished downloading. The wording and prompts can vary.
- Open My Files > Downloads to locate the picture. If you know its name, use My Files search.
These steps apply when a website offers the image as a downloadable file. Some websites restrict downloads or rely on scripts that prevent the action from starting. Samsung recommends checking your connection and available storage, and downloading only from websites you trust. Where downloaded pictures go
Start in My Files
My Files > Downloads is the most dependable place to look for a browser download. If the picture is not there, search by filename and check the app that saved it; different apps and file types can use different storage locations. Samsung’s UK file-location guidance, updated June 5, 2026, covers app-specific storage and permissions.

Check Gallery as well
A downloaded picture may also appear in Gallery, sometimes in an album named Download. This is not guaranteed for every app or file type. Samsung’s South Africa help page describes this Gallery view; for general file discovery, begin in My Files.

Receive a picture with Quick Share
If someone is sending the image from another device, this is a transfer rather than a website download. Accept the incoming Quick Share transfer, then open the received item in the supported app where it was saved. Samsung’s Australian Quick Share guidance says discoverability can depend on the receiving device being unlocked and visible, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi active as applicable. Availability and settings may vary by device and region.
Fix common picture-download problems
Tapping the image does nothing
The website may restrict downloading, or its scripts may prevent a download from starting. Look for the site’s own download control. Samsung’s guidance does not promise a workaround for a site that blocks downloads.

The download stalls or fails
- Check that the phone has a working internet connection.
- Check available storage space in My Files or the device’s storage settings.
- Try again using the website’s download link, if one is provided.
Samsung lists connectivity and storage among the things to check when a file will not download.

The download finished, but you cannot find the picture
Search My Files by filename, then check Downloads and the app that initiated the save. If you saved the image using the Google app, Samsung UK advises checking that the app has storage permission enabled. Permission labels and paths can vary by Android version; look under your phone’s app permissions settings.

The picture is in My Files but not Gallery
Gallery does not necessarily display every file in the same way, and Samsung’s available guidance does not establish one universal refresh or indexing fix for all Galaxy models. Confirm that the file opens in My Files; if you need it in Gallery, check your device’s Gallery and storage settings for your software version.
The sender’s device does not appear in Quick Share
For a Quick Share transfer, check that the receiving device is unlocked and discoverable, and that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled as applicable to the setup. Samsung’s instructions are for Australian-variant devices, so menus and availability can differ elsewhere.
