The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G and Galaxy M17 5G share nearly all of their headline specifications. Samsung’s 2025 India launch prices were lower for the M17 by ₹1,500 in each matching 128 GB configuration, but those are historical launch figures—not confirmed current prices. For a buying decision, compare the same RAM tier, seller and live offer; there is no clear hardware winner in Samsung’s published specifications.
Galaxy F17 vs M17: the main differences
The clearest documented differences are launch price, named retail channels and available colors. Their core specifications are closely matched in Samsung’s India announcements and product pages.

What was the launch price difference?
At announcement in India in 2025, Samsung placed the M17 ₹1,500 below the F17 at every matching RAM and storage tier. The 4 GB base prices included launch promotions, so they should not be treated as ordinary or current selling prices.

Samsung’s announcements are the sources for these historical figures: F17 launch pricing and M17 launch pricing. They do not establish the phones’ prices on October 11, 2026. Before buying, compare live listings for the same RAM tier and confirm seller, coupon or bank-offer conditions, stock, delivery area and color.
Are the F17 and M17 specifications the same?
Samsung’s published headline specifications are substantially alike. Neither phone has a documented advantage in processor, display resolution and refresh rate, camera layout, battery capacity or charging power. That makes the live price and the specific variant more useful decision points than a paper-spec winner.

Performance and display
Both use Samsung’s Exynos 1330 and a 6.7-inch-class FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Samsung lists CPU speeds of 2.4 GHz and 2.0 GHz on the F17 page. Published specifications alone do not establish a real-world speed difference, and there is no independent comparative test here that supports one.

Cameras
Each model has a 50 MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5 MP ultrawide, a 2 MP macro camera and a 13 MP front camera. OIS can help compensate for hand movement, but it does not guarantee sharp pictures in every scene or lighting condition.

Battery, charging and durability
Both are specified with a 5,000 mAh battery and 25 W charging; that capacity does not prove equal battery life in use. Samsung says the 25 W charger is sold separately for the M17. The phones are described as 7.5 mm thick and use Gorilla Glass Victus, with IP54 dust and splash resistance. Samsung’s M17 page says its IP54 testing uses laboratory spray conditions and resistance can diminish with wear. IP54 is not a promise of protection for swimming, submersion or beach use.
Software support and launch timing
Both launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung announced six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for each. Samsung’s product-page language treats support timing and details as current plans that may change; it does not provide a guaranteed schedule for each future update.

Samsung’s newsroom announcements are dated September 11, 2025 for the F17 and October 13, 2025 for the M17; the M17 announcement says sales begin October 13. The product pages display different launch-date metadata—September 10 for the F17 and October 10 for the M17—so these dates should not be conflated with announcement or sale dates.

- Choose the M17 if its current price is lower for the same RAM and storage, and its color and seller suit you. Its announced launch price was lower in all three matching tiers.
- Choose the F17 if it is currently the better-priced available offer for your preferred configuration, or its named color or sales channel better fits your needs.
- Compare the exact 4, 6 or 8 GB model. Both were announced in 128 GB storage configurations, so do not compare one phone’s base model with the other’s higher-RAM version.
Samsung named Flipkart among the F17’s sales channels and Amazon among the M17’s, but channel names from launch announcements do not confirm current stock, seller identity or a stable price. Check the live listing and terms before placing an order.
