The Galaxy F16 5G was listed ₹1,000 below the Galaxy M17 at each matching RAM and storage tier when the phones launched in India. The M17 adds optical image stabilization (OIS) to its main camera and has Samsung-stated IP54 protection and Gorilla Glass Victus. Both share a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, 5,000mAh battery, 25W charging support and a six-generation OS-upgrade, six-year security-update promise. These are launch specifications and prices; current retail prices were not verified.

Specifications are from Samsung’s F16 launch announcement, M17 launch announcement and Samsung’s F16 product specifications. Samsung does not state the M17’s refresh rate in the cited announcement or the F16’s peak brightness there, so the panel figures do not establish that their displays are identical in every respect.
What is the price difference?
At launch in India, Samsung listed the F16 ₹1,000 below the M17 at each matching memory and storage tier. The figures below are historical launch prices, not verified current selling prices.

Samsung announced the F16 on 13 March 2025 and said it would be sold through Flipkart, Samsung.com and select retail stores. It announced the M17 on 13 October 2025, naming Amazon, Samsung.com and select retail stores as its sale channels. Does the M17 have OIS, and what does that mean?
Yes. Samsung lists OIS on the M17’s 50MP main rear camera, while its F16 specifications say the F16 rear camera has no OIS. Optical image stabilization compensates for some camera movement, making it a relevant hardware feature for handheld shooting. It does not, by itself, prove that the M17 takes better photos overall: the available specifications do not provide a controlled camera comparison.
Which phone has better durability?
The M17 has the clearer documented protection advantage in Samsung’s cited materials: it is rated IP54 and uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Samsung’s cited F16 sources do not state an IP rating or a cover-glass grade. That absence is not evidence that the F16 has no protective features; it means a like-for-like protection comparison cannot be made from these specifications.

Are performance, battery life and software support different?
Processors
The F16 uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300; the M17 uses a 6nm Exynos 1330. Those model names alone do not establish which phone is faster in everyday use. No comparable independent benchmark or performance test is available here.
Battery and charging
Both are specified with a 5,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging. Matching rated capacity and charging support do not establish equal real-world battery life or charging time.

Software updates
Samsung promises six generations of Android or OS upgrades and six years of security updates for both phones. The M17 launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. The broad promise does not specify a guaranteed update schedule for each model.

Which should you choose?
- Choose the F16 if: its current price is lower for the configuration you want and you value the shared stated battery, charging and software-support fundamentals. Its launch pricing was lower, but that does not establish which phone is cheaper today.
- Choose the M17 if: you want the documented OIS main camera and Samsung-stated IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus protections.
- Compare before deciding if: processor speed, camera results, battery endurance or the full size-and-weight difference is decisive. The cited specifications do not settle those real-world comparisons.
