The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G lists the larger, faster-refresh display and bigger battery; the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G lists an extra rear camera module. Both have a 50 MP main camera on paper, and the available evidence does not establish a universal winner. Your choice comes down to the exact local configuration, price, preferred software and which features matter most.

Specifications are from the cited comparison listings and regional TECNO page; names, configurations and ratings can vary by market. Check the exact local SKU and manufacturer information before buying. IP ratings do not make either phone damage-proof.
Which phone has the better display?
On listed size and refresh rate, the TECNO has a modest edge: its 6.78-inch panel is rated up to 144 Hz, versus the Samsung’s 6.7-inch, 120 Hz display. A higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, but it does not by itself establish better brightness, color, outdoor visibility or overall panel quality. The panel descriptions and source regions differ, so these figures are not a controlled display test.

Which has the bigger battery, and does that mean longer life?
TECNO lists a 6,500 mAh battery, 1,500 mAh more capacity than Samsung’s listed 5,000 mAh. Both are listed with 45 W charging. Capacity alone cannot predict real-world endurance: screen use, signal conditions, software, and workload all affect battery life. No matched battery test of these two models is established here.

How do their cameras compare?
Both phones list a 50 MP primary rear camera. Samsung’s comparison configuration adds a 12 MP ultrawide and 5 MP macro camera; TECNO’s regional specification lists an 8 MP ultrawide and optical image stabilization (OIS) on its 50 MP main camera. Samsung therefore has more listed rear modules and a higher-resolution ultrawide on paper, while TECNO explicitly lists OIS for the main camera.
Those differences do not prove which phone takes better photos. Megapixel counts and camera-module totals do not substitute for matched photo and video samples. Samsung lists a 12 MP front camera and TECNO a 13 MP one; there is no matched selfie test here to establish a quality difference.

Do the processor names show which phone is faster?
No reliable speed winner follows from the processor names alone. The Samsung is listed with an Exynos 1680 and TECNO with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G, but performance depends on the workload and test method. A comparison listing reports Geekbench multi-core scores of 4,540 for Samsung and 3,200 for TECNO, but without a matching, reproducible head-to-head methodology those figures should not be treated as a definitive speed verdict.

What are the prices, and what does the difference mean?
In an India-facing 91mobiles listing snapshot, the Galaxy A57 5G was shown at ₹58,999 and out of stock, while the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G was listed at ₹49,999 through Flipkart. The listed gap is ₹9,000, but this is not a guaranteed transaction price or a global comparison; stock status differed, and price can change. Check the retailer, date, storage configuration and availability in your market before comparing.

How should you compare storage and software?
Match the configuration first
The compared Samsung listing shows 256 GB storage, but Samsung configurations vary by market. TECNO’s Mexico page lists 8 or 12 GB physical RAM and 256 or 512 GB storage. Confirm the exact local variant before comparing prices. If a retailer advertises extended or virtual RAM, distinguish it from physical memory.
Choose the software you prefer
The cited listings identify Android 16 with One UI 8.5 for Samsung and Android 16 with HiOS 16 for TECNO. Interface preference and regional update support can matter over the life of a phone. Update duration was not established in the cited information, so check each manufacturer’s current support terms for your country rather than inferring them from the Android version.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the TECNO if its listed larger, 144 Hz display and 6,500 mAh battery are your priorities, and its local price and configuration suit you.
- Consider the Samsung if you value the listed three-camera rear setup, including a macro camera, and prefer its software or local offer.
- Before deciding, compare the same storage tier, verify local stock and price, and look for independent camera, battery and performance testing that reflects your intended use.
TechRadar’s review includes testing of the Galaxy A57, but the cited material does not provide a controlled review directly comparing both phones. Treat any standalone A57 test as evidence about that model, not a head-to-head result.
