The Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G leads on listed hardware, with a larger 144 Hz display, a 6,500 mAh battery and 90 W wired charging. The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G costs less in the cited India price snapshot and has the stronger stated software-support commitment: up to six Android OS generations and six years of security updates. Which is the better buy depends on whether you value hardware specifications or longer support more.

Which phone is faster and has the better display?

Performance on paper

The Edge 70 Pro’s Dimensity 8500 Extreme is the stronger listed platform in this comparison. The specification sheets do not establish how the phones perform in identical real-world workloads, however, so treat this as a hardware comparison rather than a guarantee of a particular gaming or app-performance advantage.

Screen size, resolution and refresh rate

Motorola lists a larger screen, higher resolution and higher maximum refresh rate: 6.8 inches, 2772 × 1272 and 144 Hz, compared with Samsung’s 6.7-inch, 1080 × 2340 display at up to 120 Hz. Motorola also advertises peak brightness of up to 5,200 nits, based on lab data; actual brightness varies with conditions. That peak figure is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee of brightness in every use.

Which has the better cameras?

The Edge 70 Pro lists higher resolution for both its ultrawide and front cameras, and its ultrawide includes autofocus and macro capability. The A56 lists a dedicated 5 MP macro camera. These are hardware differences, not a verdict on photo quality: megapixel counts alone do not show how well cameras handle detail, color, motion or low light. The sources available here do not establish a controlled, head-to-head camera result.

Which has better battery life and charging?

Motorola lists a larger typical battery, 6,500 mAh versus 5,000 mAh, and faster wired charging, 90 W versus Samsung’s listed 45 W. The manufacturers each claim up to 29 hours of video playback, but those figures are not the result of a shared test and should not be read as evidence that the phones last equally long in everyday use.

Motorola says its 90 W charging claim requires a Motorola 90 W TurboPower charger or higher, sold separately. Check charger compatibility and what is included with the local phone variant before purchase. Motorola’s announcement and charging disclaimer.

Which phone offers longer software support?

Samsung states that the Galaxy A56 will receive up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Motorola’s UK support page states up to three years of OS upgrades and security patches for the Edge 70 Pro. On the cited commitments, the A56 is the better choice for buyers who prioritize a longer stated support window. Check Motorola’s terms for your country because the cited specification page is UK regional documentation.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose the Motorola Edge 70 Pro if its listed 144 Hz display, larger battery, 90 W charging or camera hardware matter most to you—and you have confirmed local specifications and charger compatibility.
  • Choose the Samsung Galaxy A56 if the longer stated software-support commitment, IP67 rating or lower price in the cited India snapshot is more important.
  • Compare exact variants before paying. The cited prices do not confirm a same-retailer, same-configuration comparison, and Motorola’s UK specifications may differ from the version sold in another market.
