The Galaxy A56 has a larger listed display and a longer announced software-support commitment than the Galaxy A53 5G. Their US launch prices were $50 apart, but those 2022 and 2025 prices are historical—not current offers. Samsung lists both with 5,000mAh typical batteries and IP67 ratings; its cited announcements do not establish which phone is faster, takes better photos, or lasts longer in everyday use.

How different are the screens?

Samsung lists a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120Hz display for the A53 and a 6.7-inch FHD+, 120Hz display for the A56. The A56 is the larger-screen option on paper, while both have the same listed refresh rate. The cited A56 US announcement does not specify the display panel type, so this comparison does not claim a panel-type advantage.

  • Long Battery Life: Equipped with a 5000mAh battery that provides up to 10 hours of screen on time on a single charge.

What changed in the cameras?

The A53 has a four-camera rear arrangement, including a 5MP depth camera; the A56’s listed rear system has three cameras and omits that depth camera. Both retain a 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera, while the listed main camera changes from 64MP on the A53 to 50MP with OIS on the A56. Samsung lists a 32MP A53 front camera and a 12MP A56 front camera.

These figures describe hardware, not photo results. Megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality, and the cited official sources do not provide a controlled comparison of photos or video from the two phones.

How much more did the A56 cost at launch?

Samsung announced a US starting price of $449.99 for the A53 in 2022 and $499.99 for the A56 in 2025: a $50 difference between their launch prices. Neither amount should be treated as a current retail price. Today’s new, refurbished, or used price depends on the market, retailer, storage, carrier, condition, and date; a current comparison requires checking listings for the same configuration.

Which phone has the longer software-support commitment?

Samsung’s launch-era US information gave the A53 three OS upgrades and four years of security updates. For the A56, Samsung announced up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung’s March 2, 2025 Global Newsroom announcement states the A56 commitment as “six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, six years of security updates.” These are launch-era commitments, not a guarantee of how much support remains for a particular secondhand device; update schedules vary by market and release timing.

Battery, charging, and durability

Battery capacity

Samsung lists a typical capacity of 5,000mAh for each phone. Capacity alone is not an endurance test, so the cited figures cannot show which one lasts longer in real use.

Charging

The cited A53 announcement specifies 25W charging and says the charger is sold separately. The cited A56 US source does not confirm a charging speed, so there is not enough information here for a verified charging-speed comparison.

Rank #3
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, 128GB + 6GB RAM, Black - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • The Galaxy A53 5G features a 6.5″ Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 800 nits of peak brightness, delivering ultra-smooth motion when scrolling or gaming and clear visibility even in bright outdoor conditions.

Water and dust resistance

Samsung lists IP67 for both. That rating is not a claim that either phone is waterproof; do not treat it as permission for deliberate or prolonged submersion.

Which phone should you choose?

Choose the Galaxy A56 if

  • You want the newer model with a larger listed display.
  • The longer announced update commitment matters to you, and the exact device’s market and update status check out.
  • You are comparing actual current prices and the A56’s premium is acceptable for those documented differences.

Consider the Galaxy A53 5G if

  • You find it at a meaningfully lower current price and its remaining software support meets your needs.
  • You prefer the listed camera layout, including a dedicated depth camera, or want the 25W charging detail established in the cited source.
  • You are comfortable choosing based on the documented hardware rather than expecting it to match the newer model’s support commitment.

Before deciding, compare the same storage capacity and carrier compatibility in your country. The official specifications establish differences in screen size, camera configuration, and support promises, but not comparative speed, photographic quality, or real-world battery life.
