The Galaxy A37 5G is the newer phone, with an upgraded processor, Samsung-claimed camera-processing improvements, IP68 protection and newer launch software. The Galaxy A36 5G may be the better buy if it costs substantially less where you live. In the U.S. reference figures available, the A37 starts at $449.99 while a 128 GB unlocked A36 is listed at $399.99—but that $50 gap compares an A37 launch price with an A36 end-of-life MSRP, not matched current retail offers.

What changed from the A36 to the A37?
Processor: a newer chip, with vendor-claimed gains
The A37 replaces the A36’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with Samsung’s Exynos 1480. Samsung Indonesia says the A37 delivers 14% higher CPU performance, 24% higher GPU performance and 167% higher NPU performance compared with the A36. Those percentages are Samsung’s claims, not independent benchmark results, so they indicate the manufacturer’s stated direction of improvement rather than a guaranteed difference in every app or workload.

Camera: same megapixel count, revised processing
Both models have a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP macro camera in Samsung’s comparison. The A37’s main camera is listed with a larger 1.0 μm pixel size versus 0.8 μm on the A36, alongside an updated image signal processor. Samsung presents these changes as improving image processing and low-light capture. The shared 50 MP figure alone does not describe the full camera difference.
Durability: IP68 versus IP67
The A37 carries an IP68 rating, compared with IP67 for the A36, giving the newer model the higher stated dust- and water-ingress rating. Neither rating means a phone is damage-proof; follow Samsung’s conditions for water exposure and avoid treating either device as suitable for underwater use.

Software: newer versions on the A37 at launch
Samsung Indonesia lists Android 16 and One UI 8.5 for the A37 at launch, versus Android 15 and One UI 7 for the A36. Actual software versions and feature availability depend on region and update timing. Samsung UK says the A37 is eligible for up to six generations of OS/One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. That statement describes the A37’s support commitment; the sources here do not establish the A36’s original commitment for a like-for-like comparison.

For the U.S. market, Samsung announced a $449.99 starting price for the A37, with availability beginning April 9, 2026. Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP list gives the 128 GB unlocked A36 an MSRP of $399.99 and marks that entry “EOL.” The arithmetic difference is $50, but it is not a comparison of two current, matched-storage street prices. The A37’s starting configuration may not match every A36 configuration, and the A36 listing is end-of-life. Samsung notes that listed prices may change without notice.

Choose the Galaxy A37 if
- You want the newer processor and the latest launch software of these two models.
- You value the A37’s higher IP68 rating or Samsung’s stated camera-processing and low-light improvements.
- The price premium over an A36 available in your market is small enough to justify those updates.
Choose the Galaxy A36 if
- You find it substantially cheaper and its performance, camera setup and IP67 rating meet your needs.
- You are comfortable buying a predecessor model and can verify stock, warranty and seller terms. Samsung’s cited U.S. 128 GB unlocked listing is marked EOL.
Samsung U.S. announced the A37 at $449.99, while Samsung Indonesia supplies the processor, camera, resistance and launch-software comparison. Samsung UK provides the A37 support statement. Since those sources cover different markets and do not establish current retailer prices for matched configurations, use local listings and checkout prices for the final decision.
