The Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy M17 5G launched in India in different years and at different price points, so their launch prices are not a like-for-like measure of what they cost today. At launch, the A35 started at ₹27,999 for 8GB/128GB, with bank-cashback conditions in Samsung’s announcement; the M17 started at ₹12,499 for 4GB/128GB, including a special launch offer. Check the current price for the exact storage and RAM variant before deciding.
On specifications, the A35 suits buyers who value a 120Hz display, higher-resolution secondary cameras, IP67 water and dust resistance, or microSD expansion. The later-launched M17 offers a slightly larger display, Android 15 and One UI 7 out of the box, and Samsung’s longer stated software-support plan.

These are India-model specifications and launch terms. The launch prices are historical, not current checkout quotes. Samsung’s product pages also state that the 25W wall charger is sold separately for both phones.
What explains the price difference?
The launch-price gap reflects different release dates, configurations, and offer terms rather than a clean comparison between equivalent packages. The A35 launched in 2024 with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The M17 launched in 2025 with three 128GB options, ranging from 4GB to 8GB of RAM. Its ₹12,499 entry price included a special launch offer; the A35 announcement described bank-cashback conditions.

A 91mobiles comparison page displayed ₹33,999 for the A35 5G and ₹16,999 for the M17 5G when accessed or crawled around this research period. Those are dynamic third-party listings, not fixed Samsung prices; sellers, stock, variants, and offers can change. Confirm the precise model and checkout total before treating any displayed gap as current.
Display: larger on the M17, smoother on the A35
The M17 has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a little larger diagonally than the A35’s 6.6-inch panel. The A35 supports a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, compared with 90Hz on the M17. A higher refresh rate can make supported scrolling and animations look smoother; it does not by itself establish that one phone has better color, brightness, or overall image quality.

Cameras: A35 has higher-resolution secondary sensors
Both phones list a 50MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 13MP front camera. The A35’s ultrawide and macro cameras have higher stated resolutions: 8MP and 5MP, respectively, versus 5MP and 2MP on the M17. These figures describe sensor resolution, not comparative photo quality. No controlled head-to-head camera test is established here.

The A35’s IP67 rating is the stronger protection rating. Samsung describes it as protection in up to 1 meter of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. The M17’s IP54 rating covers dust and splashes; Samsung advises against beach or pool use. Neither rating makes a phone impervious to all water or dust exposure, so follow Samsung’s stated conditions rather than treating either device as waterproof.

Performance, battery, and charging
The A35 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1380, while the M17 uses the Exynos 1330. The A35 therefore has the higher-numbered Exynos tier in the launch specifications, but processor names alone do not establish how much faster it is in everyday use. No controlled head-to-head performance test is established here.
Samsung lists a typical 5000mAh battery and 25W charging for each model. Matching capacity and charging wattage do not prove equal battery life: actual endurance depends on use and conditions, and no controlled comparative battery test is established here. Samsung says the 25W wall charger is sold separately.

Software and update support
The M17 launched later with Android 15 and One UI 7, while the A35 launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. Samsung’s launch-stated support plan is also longer for the M17: six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, compared with up to four Android OS generations and five years of security updates for the A35.

Samsung’s M17 specification page characterizes its update information as a current plan, not a commitment, and says rollout timing can change. The stated support figures are launch-plan claims; they do not guarantee a specific update’s arrival date on an individual device.

Storage and configurations
The A35 supports a microSD card up to 1TB, which can be useful for keeping additional files on the phone. Samsung India’s cited M17 material does not establish microSD support, so do not assume it can be expanded. Both models have multiple RAM or storage configurations across their launch offers; check the variant listing carefully because the M17’s launch prices differ by RAM, while the A35’s differ by storage.
