The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G has the stronger paper specification for a larger, higher-refresh-rate display, battery capacity and charging power. The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G stands out for its stated software-support commitment and offers microSD expansion in the U.S. specification. Neither phone can be declared faster or better at photography from specifications alone, and the available launch prices come from different countries, so they do not establish a global price winner.

Which phone has the better display?
On listed specifications, the POVA 8 Pro 5G has a slightly larger panel and offers a higher maximum refresh-rate mode: 6.78 inches and up to 144Hz, compared with the Galaxy A27 5G’s 6.7 inches and up to 120Hz. TECNO also lists a 2644 × 1208 resolution; Samsung describes its display as FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O.

Performance: what the processor names do—and do not—tell you
Samsung lists a 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, while TECNO lists a 4nm Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G and a TECNO P1 graphics chip. The shared manufacturing-process figure and the chip names alone do not show which phone will launch apps faster, sustain demanding games better or run cooler. No comparable benchmark or hands-on test is established here, so a performance winner would be speculation.
TECNO advertises gaming performance up to 144 FPS, but its product-page note says the PUBG MOBILE Ultra Extreme 144 FPS option was expected through a future major game update by October 2026 and depends on the official rollout. Treat that as a conditional feature claim, not proof that a native 144 FPS setting is currently available to every player or game. TECNO’s product page and gaming caveat.

Memory and storage: check the exact regional variant
The Galaxy A27 5G’s listed configurations differ by market: Samsung specifies 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for the U.S., while its India launch announcement lists 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB. The U.S. specification table lists microSD support up to 2TB.
TECNO lists POVA 8 Pro 5G variants with 8GB or 12GB of physical RAM paired with 256GB, and 12GB of physical RAM with 512GB. Its advertised 16GB and 24GB RAM totals include extended/virtual memory; they are not the same as that amount of physical RAM. Compare the specific SKU sold in your country, rather than assuming every configuration is available everywhere.

Camera hardware is not a photo-quality verdict
The Galaxy A27 5G pairs a 50MP optically stabilized main camera with a 5MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro camera and a 12MP front camera. TECNO lists a 50MP OIS main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 13MP front camera. The Samsung has a dedicated macro camera in its listed setup; TECNO lists a higher-resolution ultrawide and selfie camera on paper.
Megapixels and lens counts cannot establish image quality in daylight, at night, for moving subjects or in video. There is no comparable camera testing here, so neither phone should be called the better camera phone based on these figures alone.

Battery capacity and charging power
TECNO lists a 6,500mAh battery and 45W charging; Samsung lists a typical 5,000mAh battery and 25W charging. Those figures favor the POVA on capacity and rated charging power, but they do not establish actual screen-on time or time to recharge. Usage, settings, network conditions and charging conditions affect results, and no matched runtime or charging test is available.

Samsung says the Galaxy A27 5G will receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates from the initial global launch date. Samsung Global Newsroom describes this as support “from the initial global launch date,” so the six-year period is not a promise of six years from each buyer’s purchase date. TECNO’s official specifications list HiOS 16 based on Android 16, but do not state a comparable update-duration commitment. That means the sources establish Samsung’s published duration and TECNO’s listed software version—not that TECNO will provide no updates.

Samsung lists IP64 protection and Knox Vault in its U.S. specification table. TECNO’s product page lists IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings; its specifications also list Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and an under-display fingerprint sensor. Protection ratings have defined test conditions and are not a guarantee that a phone is indestructible. Check local network-band support and warranty terms for the exact model sold in your country; the cited comparison does not establish a complete region-by-region band or warranty match.
