How much do they cost in India?
The available figures do not establish a like-for-like current price difference. Samsung announced these Galaxy A17 5G launch prices in 2025: ₹18,999 for 6GB+128GB, ₹20,499 for 8GB+128GB and ₹23,499 for 8GB+256GB. They are historical launch prices, not a confirmation of what a buyer pays now.
The realme India Store displayed ₹28,999 for its selected realme 16x 5G 4GB+128GB configuration in a snapshot accessed in 2026. The store also lists 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB options, but that displayed amount does not establish the current price of those configurations.

Which display is better for your priorities?
Samsung: sharper resolution and AMOLED
Samsung lists a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with 1080 × 2340 resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 90 Hz. Its higher listed resolution and AMOLED panel make the A17 the more compelling specification choice for readers who prioritize image detail and display technology.

realme: larger screen and faster refresh rate
realme lists a slightly larger 6.81-inch LCD at 1570 × 720, with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. That is the higher refresh-rate specification, but it does not erase the difference in listed resolution or panel type. Actual viewing experience can depend on brightness, calibration and content, for which the cited listings provide no comparative test results.

Battery and charging: capacity is not runtime
The realme listing gives the 16x a 7,000 mAh typical battery and 45 W charging; Samsung’s launch announcement gives the A17 a 5,000 mAh battery and 25 W charging. Those figures favor realme on stated capacity and charging rate. They do not, by themselves, prove how many hours either phone lasts or how long it takes to charge: no controlled battery-life or charging-time comparison is established by these sources.

Cameras and performance specifications
Samsung lists a triple rear-camera setup of 50 MP, 5 MP and 2 MP, a 13 MP front camera and rear-camera OIS. realme lists a 50 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. Megapixel counts and stabilization details alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; the cited material provides no independent camera comparison.
The A17 uses Samsung’s listed 5 nm Exynos 1330, while realme identifies the Dimensity 6300. Without comparable benchmark results or workload testing, these processor names are not enough to declare a performance winner.

Software updates, storage and durability
Samsung states a specific update commitment
Samsung says the A17 ships with One UI 7 and will receive six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. Samsung Newsroom India describes this as “segment’s best”; that is Samsung’s promotional claim, not an independently verified ranking. The cited realme India listing does not establish a comparable support-duration promise, so buyers who prioritize a published update term have clearer evidence for Samsung.
Expansion and protection differ
Samsung’s India launch announcement specifies microSD expansion up to 2 TB and IP54 dust and splash resistance. realme’s India store lists expandable memory but does not state an IP rating in the cited listing. Confirm the exact configuration and regional specifications with the seller before purchase; specifications from another country should not be assumed to apply to Indian models.
Check what is in the box
realme’s India listing says the box includes a charger and protective case. The cited Samsung sources do not establish whether a charger or case is included, so verify the box contents for the exact A17 listing you intend to buy.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A17 5G if a higher-resolution Super AMOLED display, rear-camera OIS, IP54 rating, microSD support up to 2 TB or Samsung’s stated update commitment matter most to you.
- Choose the realme 16x 5G if its listed 7,000 mAh typical battery, 45 W charging, up-to-144 Hz refresh rate, larger screen or included charger and case better match your priorities.
- Compare current prices before buying if value is the deciding factor. The available Samsung launch prices and realme store snapshot refer to different dates and configurations, so they cannot settle which phone is currently the better deal.
For a purchase outside India, use the local official product page and verify network bands, warranty and configuration for that market. realme’s Brazil specification page describes different regional details, including a 6,600 mAh typical battery and different variants; those figures should not be carried over to the India model. realme Brazil specifications.
