The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is the better fit for a sharper AMOLED screen, optical image stabilization and a clearly stated long-term software policy. The OPPO K14x 5G prioritizes a larger battery, faster rated charging, a 120Hz display and an IP64 rating. A price snapshot showed the OPPO ₹5,471 cheaper, but it compared different retailers and may no longer reflect current listings.

These are manufacturer specifications and a third-party comparison listing, not results from comparative hands-on testing. The processor names alone do not establish which phone is faster, and camera resolutions do not prove which takes better photos. Which display is better?
Choose Samsung for resolution and panel type
The A17 has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. Its specified panel type and higher resolution make it the more compelling choice if you prioritize display sharpness and AMOLED contrast.

Choose OPPO for smoother motion
The K14x has a slightly larger 6.75-inch HD+ LCD, with refresh rates up to 120Hz and claimed peak brightness up to 1125 nits. Its higher refresh rate can make supported scrolling and animations look smoother, while the listed resolution is lower than Samsung’s Full HD+ panel. Maximum brightness and refresh rate are specification claims, not a guarantee of identical results in every app or lighting condition.

Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers mean
OPPO specifies a 6500mAh typical-capacity battery (6335mAh rated) and charging up to 45W. Samsung specifies 5000mAh and 25W charging. On published capacity and charging figures, OPPO has the advantage.
Those figures do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use: screen settings, network conditions, apps and other factors affect runtime. OPPO’s February 2026 announcement reports manufacturer-measured K14x results of 17.6 hours of YouTube playback, 16.1 hours of Google Maps navigation and 12.1 hours of WhatsApp video calling. Treat these as OPPO’s own test figures, not independent results or a direct comparison with the A17. OPPO’s K14x launch announcement.

Camera hardware: OIS versus a simpler rear setup
Both phones list a 50MP primary rear camera. Samsung specifies optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main camera and adds a 5MP ultrawide and a macro camera. OPPO lists a 2MP monochrome secondary camera and a 5MP front camera; the comparison listing gives the A17 a 13MP front camera.

Software support and durability
Samsung publishes a defined update commitment
Samsung states that the A17 will receive six Android OS generations and six years of security updates from its first global launch, subject to changes in policy. OPPO announced ColorOS 15 for the K14x and describes “up to 48-month Fluency Protection,” but that wording is not an equivalent promise of a specified number of Android upgrades or security updates. If a published support duration matters to your purchase, Samsung’s commitment is more explicit in the sources cited here. Samsung’s A17 product information.
IP ratings do not mean waterproof
The A17 is rated IP54 and has front Gorilla Glass Victus; OPPO states an IP64 rating for the K14x. Neither rating is permission to submerge a phone. Samsung specifically cautions against using the A17 at beaches or pools. Read each rating as limited dust- and water-resistance information, not a promise that the device is waterproof. Price difference in India
