Yes, a Samsung front-load washer and dryer can usually be stacked, but only when the two appliances are an approved model match and you use the stacking kit specified for that pair. The dryer goes on top, two people are required to lift it, and the kit instructions—not a generic bracket or a similar-looking Samsung model—must control the installation.
Because Samsung uses different kits for standard 27-inch pairs, Bespoke models, compact 24-inch pairs, heat-pump units, and MultiControl configurations, identify both model numbers before buying anything. Exact clearances, regional availability, and installation-service options also vary by model and country.
Can a Samsung washer and dryer be stacked?
Samsung’s installation guidance states that only front-load washers can be stacked with dryers, and the dryer must always be on top. A top-load washer is not a compatible base for this arrangement. The washer and dryer also need to be a matching, approved pair; being made by the same manufacturer is not enough.
Stacking saves floor space by replacing two side-by-side footprints with one vertical footprint. It does not eliminate the need for access to the washer door, dryer door, controls, ventilation or utility connections. Before moving either appliance, check the installation sections of both manuals for the required clearances in your room.

Read the model labels before you buy a kit
Find the full model number on each appliance and write it down exactly, including suffixes. The model code is normally shown on the rating label or in the appliance documentation. Do not identify a kit from the appliance color, a retail listing title, or the fact that both products are 27 inches wide. Small model differences can change the required hardware.
What to record
- Complete washer model number.
- Complete dryer model number.
- Whether the pair is standard-size, compact, Bespoke, heat-pump, or a MultiControl configuration.
- Appliance width category, such as Samsung’s standard 27-inch class or compact 24-inch class.
- Country or region where the pair will be installed, because Samsung kit names and availability can differ between the United States and Canada.
- Finish, if the selected kit includes a visible matching gap cover or trim.
Use those details to check both appliance manuals and Samsung’s current compatibility information. If a retailer lists a kit as fitting “most” models, treat that as a starting point rather than proof that your pair is supported.
Samsung stacking-kit options explained
The following examples show why model matching matters. They are categories identified by Samsung, not a universal compatibility list. Confirm both appliance model numbers before ordering.

Samsung’s published examples establish that a kit is selected by model family and configuration, not simply by brand. If a compatibility checker, manual, or Samsung support representative gives a different kit number from a store listing, follow the model-specific Samsung documentation.
Prepare the room and the people
Do not begin by tipping the dryer onto the floor or trying to improvise a lift. Samsung warns that people who move or stack the appliances themselves can be injured. Plan the route from the delivery position to the final location, remove obstacles, and have a second adult available before opening the kit.

Disconnect and clear the work area
- Turn off and unplug both appliances before installing the stacking hardware.
- Clear the floor, doorway and route to the final position. Protect surfaces that could be scratched while the appliances are moved.
- Have the correct kit, both appliance manuals, the kit instructions and the required hand tools available.
- Keep the washer upright. Do not place the dryer on the floor during the standard-kit procedure; Samsung specifically cautions that doing so can scratch it.
Plan the lift
Two people must lift the dryer onto the washer. Agree on who will guide the rear and who will control the front, and lift only from solid frame areas identified by the instructions. Do not attempt the lift alone, even if the dryer appears light enough to move.
Check the installation space
Measure the intended alcove or wall opening against the dimensions and clearance diagrams in both manuals. The required space depends on the model and installation setting. Leave the access and service space Samsung specifies rather than assuming that a tight fit is acceptable.
Standard kit installation: a safe sequence
The exact bracket shape, screw locations and order can vary. Use the following sequence as a planning framework, then follow every illustration and torque or fastening instruction supplied with your exact kit.
1. Confirm the kit one more time
Match the kit number to the complete washer and dryer model numbers. Open the package and compare its brackets, fasteners and any trim or gap cover with the parts list. Stop if parts are missing, damaged or different from the instructions.
2. Unplug both appliances
Disconnect power before removing panels, brackets or trim. Keep the power cords out of the lifting path. Do not start while either appliance is operating or connected to power.

3. Position and level the washer
Place the washer in the planned location with the service and door clearances shown in its manual. Ensure it is stable and level before adding the dryer; a stacked pair cannot be corrected safely by forcing the top appliance into alignment later.
4. Prepare the dryer without laying it on the floor
For the standard kit, Samsung says not to lay the dryer on the floor because its finish can be scratched. Keep it supported in the orientation described by the kit guide while the brackets or locating features are prepared.
5. Install the lower hardware
Attach the kit’s washer-side brackets, rails or locating pieces exactly as illustrated. Use only the supplied fasteners in the specified holes. Do not drill new holes or replace the hardware with generic screws.
6. Lift the dryer onto the washer
With two people, lift the dryer onto the washer and align the locating points. Move slowly; do not drag the dryer across the washer top. Keep fingers clear of pinch points and lower the unit only when both people are ready.
7. Attach the dryer-side brackets
Secure the dryer to the installed hardware in the order shown in the kit instructions. If the kit includes a rear brace, side bracket or front trim, install each component before moving the pair.

8. Install any gap cover or finish piece
Some kits include a matching gap cover or trim. Fit it only after the structural brackets are secured, and use the piece specified for your model and finish. A decorative cover is not a substitute for the structural fasteners.
9. Tighten and inspect every fastener
Samsung’s general kit guidance says to ensure the screws are tightly fastened before moving the stacked pair. Check every bracket, screw and locating point against the parts diagram. Do not rely on a quick visual check from the front; inspect the rear and sides as the instructions permit.
10. Move the pair into final position
Move the secured stack with adequate help, keeping it upright and avoiding sudden tilting. Stop if the pair catches on a doorway or the stack shifts. Once in place, recheck the clearances, stability and access to the controls and doors.
Bespoke and specialty configurations need their own procedure
Do not apply the standard-kit sequence to a Bespoke, compact, heat-pump or MultiControl pair unless Samsung’s instructions for that exact kit say to do so. Samsung identifies separate hardware families because the brackets, trim, control arrangement and appliance dimensions can differ.

Bespoke models
The Bespoke SKK-9MC family is specified for named matching Bespoke washer and dryer models and may include finish-specific pieces. Confirm that both model numbers are listed for the kit you are buying. Follow the Bespoke guide’s bracket order even when a step appears similar to the standard procedure.

Compact 24-inch pairs
Samsung lists SKK-DF-A1 for its compact front-load pair. Compact width is an identifier for this kit category, not permission to combine any 24-inch washer with any 24-inch dryer. Verify the exact pair and the compact manual’s clearances.
6000 Series heat-pump pairs
Samsung lists SKK-8HK for its 6000 Series heat-pump front-load pair. Heat-pump equipment has its own model family and installation documentation, so do not substitute the standard 27-inch kit without written compatibility for your models.
MultiControl combinations
Some kits combine MultiControl functionality with stacking hardware. Decide whether your pair actually supports the MultiControl arrangement, then confirm the kit’s model list and regional version. A kit that physically stacks two appliances may still be wrong for the desired control configuration.

Samsung does not provide one clearance value that applies to every stacked pair. The required dimensions vary by appliance and installation setting, so use both manuals’ diagrams. Account for the space needed to open each door, operate controls, route connections and remove the appliances for service.
- Top and side space: use the dimensions specified for your model, including any allowance for trim or a gap cover.
- Front access: make sure the washer and dryer doors can open fully without striking a wall, cabinet or another appliance.
- Rear access: avoid crushing or sharply bending connections when the stack is moved into place.
- Floor stability: place the washer on the surface described in its manual and correct leveling issues before stacking.
- Fasteners: verify that all screws and brackets remain tight after the pair reaches its final position.
If the stack cannot meet the manual’s clearance requirements, do not force it into the opening. Choose a different location or consult a qualified installer.
When professional installation is the better choice
Use Samsung’s installation service, where offered with the kit and appliances, if you cannot safely perform the lift, cannot verify compatibility, or do not have a clear route to the final position. Availability and terms depend on the purchase and location; confirm them locally rather than assuming service is included.
Professional help is especially sensible when the dryer must pass through a narrow doorway, the appliances are already connected in a confined alcove, the floor is uneven, or the installation requires moving other heavy equipment. Even with a service appointment, have the exact model numbers and manuals ready so the installer can bring the correct hardware.

- Record the complete model number of the Samsung front-load washer.
- Record the complete model number of the Samsung dryer.

- Check both manuals for the approved stacking kit and clearance diagrams.
- Confirm the kit’s regional availability and finish, if applicable.
- Verify that two adults can safely lift the dryer and that the route is clear.
