To change a Samsung fridge or freezer temperature, use the controls shown on your appliance: some panels use compartment buttons and arrows, while others cycle through settings when you press Fridge or Freezer. Samsung UK’s general recommendation is +3°C for the fridge and −18°C for the freezer at an ambient temperature of 25°C. The exact controls and available increments depend on your model.
What temperature should you set on a Samsung fridge?
Samsung UK recommends setting the fridge to +3°C and the freezer to −18°C when the surrounding temperature is 25°C. The page describes these as general recommendations; the ideal setting can vary with room temperature, and not every model offers those exact increments. How to change the temperature on your Samsung refrigerator
First identify the controls on your appliance. Samsung says button sequences differ by model. If none of the panel styles below matches yours, look up the manual for the exact model rather than trying a sequence from another refrigerator.

- Tap a control to wake the display if it is asleep.
- Select Fridge or Freezer.
- Use the arrows to choose the temperature or function you want.
- Wait about five seconds for confirmation. The selected compartment indicator stops flashing when the selection is confirmed.
Samsung US also documents arrow-control models that include FlexZone. On those models, select the relevant compartment or FlexZone, choose the desired setting, and confirm. The available procedure depends on the panel; refer to Samsung US’s temperature-setting instructions for its examples.

External Fridge and Freezer buttons
On the external-display examples in Samsung UK’s guide, press Fridge or Freezer repeatedly to cycle through available temperatures. For those examples, the fridge range is 1°C to 7°C and the freezer range is −15°C to −23°C. The chosen setting applies automatically.
Twin Cooling preset panel
Samsung UK describes these Twin Cooling presets:

For the side-by-side Twin Cooling panel described in that guide, press Fridge or Freezer to cycle through the settings. Holding Fridge for three seconds activates Power Cool; holding Freezer for three seconds activates Power Freeze. These instructions apply to the documented panel, not necessarily to other Samsung refrigerators.

Why the displayed temperature may not match your setting
A display can show the compartment’s current temperature rather than the target temperature you selected. After a change, the refrigerator takes time to reach the new setpoint. A Samsung-hosted manual for a Dacor 36-inch French Door refrigerator states: “Note that it will take time for the refrigerator to reach the new temperature. This is normal.” That manual supports the actual-versus-set distinction, but its controls should not be treated as instructions for all Samsung models. Samsung’s US temperature-setting guidance also explains that the displayed reading may reflect actual compartment temperature.
Power Cool and Power Freeze are not temperature settings
These are rapid-cooling functions, separate from ordinary temperature choices. On the specific Samsung UK side-by-side panel described above, holding Fridge for three seconds turns on Power Cool and holding Freezer for three seconds turns on Power Freeze. Samsung says Power Freeze on that example switches off automatically after 50 hours and increases power consumption. The activation method and duration are specific to that documented panel, so check your model’s manual before relying on them.

Find the right instructions for your model
If your panel’s labels or controls differ, use the refrigerator’s model number to find its manual through Samsung support. This is especially important because temperature ranges, increments, confirmation steps, and rapid-cooling controls can vary between models.
