Samsung is expanding the One UI 9 rollout, but a small number of Galaxy A57 owner reports describe a problem after installing the update. The accounts are inconsistent: one says the phone will not boot, while another describes an XML file error on the One UI 9 introduction screen that appears to block setup. Samsung had not publicly confirmed the issue or its cause in the reporting available as of October 12, 2026.
That makes this an early warning, not evidence of a widespread or confirmed software defect. If your A57 is affected, owners have reported restarting in Safe Mode as a workaround, but it is not an official Samsung fix or a guaranteed solution.
What the Galaxy A57 reports say
Reports dated October 12 describe A57 owners encountering trouble after installing stable One UI 9, based on Android 17. The reports surfaced after the update reached South Korea and some European markets. The available accounts do not agree on exactly what happens:

- Another describes an “XML file error” on the One UI 9 introduction screen, leaving the owner apparently unable to proceed through setup.
These descriptions may reflect different experiences, but the reports do not establish whether they share one cause. “XML file error” and “stuck on the One UI 9 introduction screen” are descriptions used in reporting, not a formal Samsung bug name. Samsung had not issued a public confirmation, diagnosis, or fix in the sources available at the time.

SammyGuru’s tracker says the A57 update appeared in South Korea on October 6 and reached several European countries on October 12. AndroidPure also reported on October 12 that the stable update had become available outside South Korea, including Europe, while noting that Samsung had not announced the A57 rollout or commented on the reported problem as of its reporting time. These are reports of rollout timing and owner accounts, not proof that most A57 phones are affected.
How the A57 report fits into Samsung’s rollout
Samsung Electronics America said on September 16, 2026, that the One UI 9 expansion began with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, S26+, and S26, following the software’s debut on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8. Samsung said the update would gradually reach other Galaxy devices; it did not promise a date for every model or region. Android Central’s coverage of the S26 rollout likewise described it as starting in South Korea and expanding to other regions. It highlighted features such as My FanCam and customizable Now Brief cards, but did not report the later A57 setup-screen problem. Android Central’s rollout coverage
Because distribution is phased, an update’s availability can depend on the exact device model, regional variant, country, and carrier. A report that one market has received One UI 9 does not mean every A57 should already have it.

What to do if your Galaxy A57 is affected
If the phone still opens Settings
- Check the exact model and software build in Settings, then compare the update date with the report you are following. This helps distinguish a rollout or build difference from the reported symptom.
- Samsung says One UI 9 includes diagnostics, repair estimates, Care+ management, and service booking in Settings. Availability can vary by region, and these tools are useful only if you can access the phone. Samsung’s description of One UI 9 support features
- If the phone remains unusable, contact Samsung support or arrange service rather than treating an owner workaround as a confirmed repair.
If setup is blocked or the phone will not boot
AndroidPure and SammyGuru report that some owners used a Safe Mode restart as a workaround. The accounts do not establish an official Samsung procedure for this particular problem, explain why it might help, or guarantee that it will work on every A57 variant. If you try it, follow instructions appropriate to your exact model and region; do not assume that the reported workaround has repaired the underlying issue.
Samsung’s diagnostics and service-booking options may be inaccessible while the phone is stuck at startup. In that case, use Samsung’s support channels for your region or seek authorized service. The available reports do not provide a verified recovery sequence or a confirmed firmware fix.

Is this a confirmed One UI 9 bug?
Not on the evidence available as of October 12, 2026. The A57 problem is described through owner accounts relayed by reporting, and the accounts differ on whether the device fails to boot or cannot advance past an introduction screen. Samsung had not publicly confirmed the problem or identified its cause in those reports. There is also no supported failure count or rate, so it would be inaccurate to call it widespread.

The page could not be independently opened, so this remains weak anecdotal evidence about a different symptom and device. It does not confirm the A57 XML/setup report or establish a common One UI 9 defect.
How to check for One UI 9
If you are waiting for the update, use Settings > Software update > Download and install and select “Check for updates” if shown. A missing update does not by itself indicate a fault: Samsung says the rollout is gradual, and timing may differ by model, country, regional variant, and carrier.
