Samsung’s eSIM-compatible lineup includes many Galaxy S, Z Fold, and Z Flip phones, plus selected Galaxy A and XCover models. A family name alone is not a guarantee: support depends on the phone’s exact regional variant, country of origin, carrier, and sometimes the activation method. Check all four before buying or setting up service.
Which Samsung phones support eSIM?
Samsung Canada’s support list, last updated September 29, 2026, includes the following phone families. Samsung Spain’s list, last updated September 15, 2026, corroborates many of them. These are family-level starting points, not a promise that every model or regional version supports eSIM. Samsung Canada’s Galaxy eSIM support page and Samsung Spain’s support page have the current regional details.
- Galaxy S: S20, S20+, S20 Ultra; S21, S21+, S21 Ultra; S22, S22+, S22 Ultra; S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE; S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE; S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S25 FE; and S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S26 FE.
- Galaxy Z Fold: Galaxy Fold, Z Fold2, Z Fold3, Z Fold4, Z Fold5, Z Fold6, Z Fold7, Z Fold8, and Z Fold8 Ultra. Samsung Spain also lists Galaxy Z TriFold.
- Galaxy Z Flip: Galaxy Z Flip, Z Flip 5G, Z Flip3, Z Flip4, Z Flip5, Z Flip6, Z Flip7, Z Flip7 FE, and Z Flip8.
- Selected Galaxy A: A57, A56, A55, A37, A36, A35, A27, A26, A25 5G, A17 5G, A16 5G, and A54. Regional restrictions apply to some models.
- Galaxy XCover: XCover7 Pro, XCover7, and XCover6 Pro; Samsung Canada labels the XCover6 Pro North America-only.
Samsung India’s February 18, 2026, article lists a different regional selection, including S20–S25 families, selected FE and A-series phones, XCover7 models, and tablets. Its scope differs from the later Canada and Spain lists, so a model’s absence from one country’s page does not establish global incompatibility. Samsung India’s eSIM article provides that regional cross-check.

Why your country and exact model matter
Samsung warns that a device may not support eSIM in its country of origin even when its family appears on a support list. Its Canada page says, “Depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed above.” The same page notes that eSIM service varies by country and carrier.

Samsung’s regional lists attach specific market limits to some models. For example, the Canadian list marks the Galaxy A27, A17 5G, A26, A16 5G, and XCover6 Pro as North America-only; A36 and A35 as Europe, North America, and Korea only; and A54 as Europe, North America, Korea, and Japan only. Samsung Spain additionally marks the A25 5G and A23 5G as Japan-only. These labels describe the cited regional support pages and should not be treated as a universal map of every variant.
Before purchasing an imported phone or activating service, find its full model number and regional variant, then confirm support with Samsung for that market and with the intended carrier. Carrier support for eSIM does not necessarily mean that every activation route is available.

How to check whether your Galaxy has eSIM
- Identify the exact phone variant. Check the phone’s model information and compare it with Samsung’s support information for the country where the device was sold or will be used.
- Confirm your carrier and destination. Ask whether the carrier supports eSIM for that specific model in the country where you need service.
- Ask which activation method is supported. Carrier setup, QR activation, manual activation, transfer, and physical-SIM conversion can have different requirements.
- Check the phone’s SIM settings. On supported software, open Settings > Connections > SIM Manager. Menu names can vary slightly by software version and language.
How to add an eSIM to a Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Spain documents three setup routes. Which one you can use depends on your carrier and device; follow the carrier’s current activation instructions.
Carrier setup
With a participating carrier, the plan may be sent to the phone for simple eSIM setup. Samsung’s regional support pages distinguish participating carriers and methods, so do not assume this option is available with every provider.

Scan a carrier QR code
Open Settings > Connections > SIM Manager and use the option to add an eSIM or scan the QR code supplied by your carrier. The exact on-screen wording can vary.
Enter an activation code
If your carrier provides an activation code instead of a QR code, open SIM Manager and follow its instructions to enter the code manually.

Convert a physical SIM
Samsung Canada documents conversion through Settings > Connections > SIM Manager: select the SIM and choose Convert to eSIM. This option depends on the mobile provider and may not appear for every plan or device.

Samsung’s Canada support page lists some cellular-capable Galaxy tablets, but a Wi-Fi-only tablet does not support eSIM. For tablets, confirm that the exact model is cellular-enabled and check its regional support and carrier requirements; a phone compatibility list does not establish tablet compatibility. Samsung Canada’s support page states the Wi-Fi-only limitation.

What to compare when choosing a Samsung phone for eSIM
- Exact model and region: Verify the full variant rather than relying on the Galaxy family name.
- Carrier and country: Confirm the intended carrier supports eSIM for that phone where you plan to use it, especially if traveling or buying an imported device.
- Activation route: Check whether you can use carrier setup, QR code, manual code entry, SIM conversion, or transfer; these options are not interchangeable.
- Phone needs beyond eSIM: Inclusion on an eSIM list establishes neither other specifications nor overall value. Compare the phone’s features and price separately.
