Where is Samsung Electronics stock listed?
Samsung Electronics’ Investor Relations listing information identifies two venues: the KRX for original shares and the LSE for GDRs. Samsung says in its Investor Relations FAQ that it first listed on the Korea Stock Exchange on June 11, 1975.

These are Samsung Electronics securities, not a general listing for every company in the wider Samsung group. The company’s listing information distinguishes the original shares from the London-listed GDRs.
What is the difference between original shares and GDRs?
Original shares are the shares listed on the KRX. A global depositary receipt is a separate security representing shares and offers a different trading route; Samsung lists its GDRs on the LSE. The two routes have different tickers and ISINs, so use the identifier for the specific security and venue you intend to trade.

Can US residents buy Samsung Electronics securities?
Samsung’s stock-purchase page says US residents are prohibited from trading the GDRs described there under Rule 144A, and that there is no public offering in the United States of the securities described on that page. This is a limitation stated for those GDRs and securities; it should not be read as a blanket statement about every possible US brokerage or security route. Samsung Electronics reported 6,648,649,811 shares outstanding at the end of Q2 2026: 5,846,278,608 common shares (87.9%) and 802,371,203 preferred shares (12.1%), according to its stock capital information. This is a dated share count, not a share price or measure of market value.
