There is no single thermostat location for every Samsung dryer. A high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff may be mounted on the heater housing, while a thermistor or another thermal fuse can be elsewhere. Check your dryer’s complete model number and matching repair guide or parts diagram before opening the appliance or ordering a part.
First, identify which temperature-control part you mean
“Thermostat” is often used loosely, but Samsung parts listings distinguish several components. A thermistor senses temperature; a high-limit thermostat and thermal cutoff or thermal fuse are separate parts with different roles and potentially different locations. A diagram may show several of them on the same heater duct or assembly, so their names are not interchangeable.
- High-limit thermostat: A heater-related safety component that may be mounted on the heater housing.
- Thermal cutoff or thermal fuse: A separate safety component; its position depends on the dryer design.
- Thermistor: A temperature sensor, not another name for a thermostat. It may be accessed elsewhere in the assembly.
Where the parts may be—and why the model matters
Samsung’s exploded heater-duct listing shows a high-limit thermostat, thermal cutoff fuse, thermostat bracket, heater and housing components together. This supports the heater housing as a likely area for heater-related safety parts, but it does not establish one location for all Samsung dryers. The exact mounting point depends on the model.

Those positions and temperatures are a report about that model, not manufacturer guidance for other Samsung dryers.

A service-manual transcription for selected models gives separate thermistor access instructions: unplug the dryer and remove a screw from the drum-back assembly. That detail is model-specific and should not be treated as a general disassembly procedure.
How to find the location for your Samsung dryer
- Find the complete model number. Read it from the appliance label; do not rely on “Samsung dryer” or a partial model name.
- Look up that exact model on Samsung Support. Open its repair guide or parts information. Samsung’s support pages list repair guides by named model; for example, the DV90T5240AW support listing includes a model-associated repair guide. A different model’s guide may show a different layout.
- Match the component name in the diagram. Check whether you need the thermistor, high-limit thermostat, thermal cutoff, or thermal fuse. Use the matching part callout rather than searching for a generic “Samsung thermostat.”
- Confirm the part number against the full model. Samsung’s catalog lists multiple distinct thermal components; a similar-looking listing does not establish compatibility. The dryer-parts catalog and the heater-duct assembly diagram illustrate why component identity matters.
Safety before inspection or repair
Disconnect power before servicing and follow the repair instructions for your exact model. The cited thermistor procedure specifically says to unplug the dryer before removal, but it is not a complete service procedure for every model. If you cannot confidently identify the part or follow the model-specific instructions, use Samsung’s model support and repair information or contact a qualified service provider.
