Before replacing a thermal fuse on a Samsung dryer, find the complete model number and use that model’s Samsung support page, repair guide, and parts diagram to confirm the correct component and access procedure. A dryer that will not start or heat may have a failed fuse, but those symptoms alone do not identify the fuse as the cause.
Find the right fuse for your Samsung dryer
Thermal fuses and thermal-limit components vary by dryer model. Check the full model code on the appliance, then open the corresponding Samsung support page for your model and region. Use its manuals and repair resources, together with the parts diagram, to identify the component and verify compatibility before ordering.
Names can be similar without referring to the same part. Confirm whether the diagram calls for a thermal fuse, thermal limit, thermoprotector, or another component, and check that the repair guide identifies the same part and location. Do not select a replacement based only on a broad description such as “Samsung dryer fuse.”

Do no-start or no-heat symptoms mean the fuse has failed?
No. A failed thermal fuse or thermal-limit component is one possible reason a dryer may not start or heat, but either symptom can have other causes. Use the symptom as a reason to diagnose the appliance, not as proof that the fuse needs replacement. Follow the troubleshooting information for your exact model or have a qualified technician diagnose it.
How to replace the thermal-limit component
The access steps depend on the dryer. A documented procedure for one Samsung electric-dryer example removes the top panel, control panel, front panel, and heating-element housing to reach the thermal limit. It then disconnects the component’s wires, removes and replaces the part, reconnects the wiring, and reassembles the appliance. That sequence is not a universal instruction for all Samsung dryers; gas and heat-pump models, as well as other electric models, may require different procedures.

- Confirm the model-specific procedure. Make sure the repair guide and parts diagram match the complete model code on your dryer. If the correct documentation is unavailable, do not guess at the disassembly or component.
- Disconnect power before service. Unplug the appliance before beginning, as directed by the documented procedure. Follow the exact model’s safety instructions.
- Access the component using the matching guide. Remove only the panels and assemblies specified for your model. Keep track of screws and connectors, and do not pull on wiring.
- Replace and reconnect the identified part. Verify that the replacement matches the diagram and model. Reconnect wiring as specified by the guide, then reinstall the panels and assemblies in the prescribed order.

Check airflow and lint if the dryer overheated
A fuse replacement does not address a restricted exhaust path. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warns: “Lint can block the flow of air, cause excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire in some dryers.” Check the lint screen, the vent and exhaust duct, and whether air is escaping at the outside outlet. CPSC recommends cleaning the lint screen before or after each load and periodically cleaning the vent and exhaust duct. If you disconnect ducting to check for a blockage, reconnect it before using the dryer.
USFA reports that failure to clean was the leading factor contributing to ignition of home clothes-dryer fires from 2018–2020; its 31% figure describes that period’s reported fires, not the risk for an individual appliance. If the vent path requires internal cleaning or you cannot safely clear a restriction, arrange qualified service.

What if the replacement fuse opens again?
Do not bypass the fuse or keep replacing it without diagnosing why it opened. A recurring failure warrants checking the model-specific repair guidance and the airflow path, and may require a technician to find the underlying fault.
