Possibly—but it is not confirmed. Leaked Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) certification information reported on October 16, 2026, appears to list ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity for the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra while omitting it from the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+. The documents are not a Samsung announcement and may not represent the final specifications of phones sold worldwide.
What the Galaxy S27+ leak appears to show
Reports from PhoneArena, SamMobile and Android Authority describe certification material attributed to leaker Abhishek Yadav. In that material, UWB appears on the rumored Pro and Ultra models but not on the standard S27 or S27+. If accurate, the Galaxy S27+ would be the first Plus model in a reported six-generation run, beginning with the Galaxy S21+, to omit the radio.
Certification records can be incomplete, and a Chinese filing does not establish every configuration or the global retail specification. Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy S27 family, its model names, or UWB support. “Could remove” is therefore the accurate description until Samsung publishes an official specification sheet.
What UWB does on a Galaxy phone
More precise SmartTag finding
UWB is a short-range radio system that estimates distance and direction more precisely than ordinary Bluetooth. With a compatible Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and a UWB-equipped phone, the finding experience can provide directional guidance and a more exact indication of where the tag is, rather than only showing Bluetooth proximity.
#1 Best Overall
- Find your things with ease: The SmartThings Find app uses Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate and keep track of your stuff
- Water and Dust Resistant: IP67 rating offers protection against dust and water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for up to 30 minutes
- Compatible with Galaxy Devices Only
If the S27+ lacks UWB, a compatible SmartTag could still use standard Bluetooth-based features where supported. The likely change is the loss of the most precise, direction-aware locating mode—not the disappearance of every tracker function.
Hands-free digital keys
Some vehicle and smart-lock digital-key systems use UWB to determine that an authorized phone is nearby and in the expected position. That can allow a door to unlock while the phone remains in a pocket. Compatibility depends on the phone, the lock or vehicle, the service provider and the region, so UWB in a handset does not guarantee that every digital-key feature will work.

Why losing UWB would matter to S27+ buyers
- Owners of UWB accessories: A SmartTag would remain useful for basic Bluetooth locating, but the phone could lose directional “point me to it” guidance.
- Digital-key users: A supported hands-free unlock workflow might no longer be available on the Plus model, even if it remains on the Pro and Ultra.
- Upgraders from older Plus phones: The change would be unusual because Plus phones have reportedly included UWB since the S21+.
- Most other buyers: UWB has no effect on ordinary calls, messaging, cameras or standard Bluetooth accessories.
Rumored model comparison
| Model | UWB in leaked certification information | Tracker-finding implication | Digital-key implication | Price and size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S27 | Omitted | Bluetooth-based functions may remain; UWB direction finding may be absent | Some UWB-dependent uses may be unavailable | Not officially stated |
| Galaxy S27+ | Omitted | Potential loss of the most precise SmartTag locating mode | Some UWB-dependent hands-free access may be unavailable | Not officially stated |
| Galaxy S27 Pro | Listed | Could retain UWB precision, subject to final specifications | Could retain compatible UWB digital-key functions | Not officially stated |
| Galaxy S27 Ultra | Listed | Could retain UWB precision, subject to final specifications | Could retain compatible UWB digital-key functions | Not officially stated |
The table reflects the reported leak, not a confirmed product matrix. Model names, regional variants, prices and physical dimensions remain unannounced.

If UWB is central to your setup
Wait for Samsung’s official specifications before buying. If the final S27+ specification omits UWB and the Pro includes it, the Pro would be the safer choice for UWB-based SmartTag direction finding or a compatible digital key. Confirm support for your specific tag, vehicle or lock as well; the radio alone does not guarantee service compatibility.

If you only need basic tracking
The S27+ may still be adequate if your use is limited to Bluetooth-based alerts, last-known location and nearby-device detection. Those functions should not be assumed to disappear solely because UWB is absent, but Samsung must confirm the exact SmartTag behavior for the phone.
If you are replacing an S21+ or newer Plus phone
Check whether you actively use UWB features before upgrading. A user who has never used directional finding or a UWB digital key may notice no practical difference; a user who relies on either feature should treat the rumored omission as a meaningful downgrade and consider waiting for final details.

What is confirmed—and what is not
- Reported: leaked Chinese MIIT information appears to omit UWB from the S27 and S27+ and include it on the Pro and Ultra.
- Established use: UWB can improve direction-and-distance finding for compatible trackers and support certain digital-key systems.
- Historical context: Plus phones have reportedly carried UWB since the Galaxy S21+.
- Not established: Samsung’s final hardware, worldwide availability, launch timing, pricing, dimensions and the behavior of every accessory on each model.
Until Samsung releases official specifications, treat the omission as a credible possibility rather than a purchasing fact.
