Samsung’s Good Lock support team has acknowledged two separate defects reported on Galaxy devices: Home Up can shrink widget text when you reduce widget or icon size, and the volume value shown in Quick Settings can differ from the value in the expanded volume panel. Samsung says it is investigating both issues, but has not announced a release date for fixes.

What Samsung has confirmed
Android Authority reported the acknowledgments on 14 October 2026, attributing them to responses from a Good Lock moderator. The report says Samsung is looking for a way to address the Home Up text-scaling problem and has confirmed the discrepancy between volume-control surfaces. It does not provide a timetable or identify a particular One UI, Galaxy model or Good Lock version that is guaranteed to contain the bugs.

Why the two bugs affect different Good Lock functions
Home Up controls the home screen
Home Up is the Good Lock module for home-screen layout and widget customization. Its resizing controls are intended to let you fit more content or create a different visual arrangement. In the reported defect, the text scales down with the resized object instead of remaining readable, so changing the size can trade away legibility.

Sound Assistant changes volume behavior and presentation
Sound Assistant adds granular audio controls and lets users customize the volume-panel appearance. Samsung says it supports volume increments from one to 10 and per-app volume management. The acknowledged bug concerns the number displayed by the controls, not evidence that the phone is producing two different audio levels at the same time. Until Samsung explains the implementation, treat the conflicting number as a user-interface reliability problem rather than a calibrated measurement.
How widespread are the modules?
Samsung Global Newsroom reported cumulative downloads measured in early March 2025 of more than 21 million for Sound Assistant, more than 17 million for Theme Park and more than 16 million for One Hand Operation+. Those figures indicate substantial Good Lock adoption, but they do not establish how many users encounter either defect. Behavior can vary by Galaxy model, One UI release and the installed Good Lock module version.

What you can try now
Samsung’s general widget troubleshooting guidance does not describe a dedicated workaround for the confirmed Home Up text-scaling defect or the volume-number mismatch. It does provide a sensible sequence for ruling out a temporary installation or system problem:
- Install updates. Check for available phone or tablet software updates, then update Good Lock and the affected module through Samsung’s app distribution channel.
- Restart the device. A restart can clear a transient launcher or overlay state before you test the widget or volume controls again.
- Remove and re-add the widget. Delete the affected widget from the home screen, add it again, and repeat the resize operation. This may repair a corrupted widget instance, although Samsung has not said it fixes the underlying Home Up bug.
- Test in Safe mode. Safe mode temporarily disables third-party apps. If the symptom disappears there, another installed app may be interfering with the launcher or volume panel; if it remains, the Good Lock or system component is more likely involved.
- Record the conditions. Note the Galaxy model, One UI version, Good Lock version, module version, resize setting and the two volume values. Screenshots or a short screen recording can make a report reproducible.
- Use factory reset only as a last resort. Samsung lists a reset for persistent widget problems, but it erases local data and has not been presented as a fix for either acknowledged defect. Back up first and restore only after less destructive steps fail.
Workarounds while Samsung investigates
If Home Up text is unreadable
- Return the widget or icon to its previous size so the text is readable.
- Use a different widget layout or a separate, larger widget for information that must be checked quickly.
- Avoid repeatedly resizing and re-adding the same item if the problem is reproducible; preserve the settings and version details for a support report.
If volume numbers disagree
- Use one volume surface consistently rather than switching between Quick Settings and the expanded panel while setting a precise level.
- When exact loudness matters, verify the audible result and the active output device instead of assuming that a one-step numerical difference represents a meaningful change.
- Check per-app volume settings in Sound Assistant, since an app-specific level can make the overall number appear inconsistent with what you hear.
What to expect from a fix
Samsung has described both issues as under investigation or scheduled for improvement, not as defects with a committed patch date. A future Good Lock module update, One UI update or both could be required. Because the report does not name a universal affected version, install updates when offered and retest using the same steps and settings. If a release note or Samsung support post later identifies a specific fix, its model and version scope should be treated as authoritative.
