Yes, a Samsung phone’s charging port can be replaced, but whether you can replace it yourself depends on the exact model and your country. Samsung documents a self-repair procedure for the Galaxy S21 series in the UK and offers charging-port repair through its US service options. Before opening the phone or ordering a part, check your model number and the current repair options where you live.
Check whether the port is actually faulty
A phone that will not charge does not necessarily need a new port. Samsung recommends checking the charger and cable first, then considering debris, moisture, charging settings, or a hardware fault.
- Try a compatible charger and cable.
- If you can see debris, turn off the phone and remove it carefully. Do not use metal objects or liquids.
- If the phone detects moisture, unplug the cable and let the port dry. Do not charge while it is wet or insert objects into the port.
- If charging still fails, arrange a hardware inspection through a Samsung service center or another qualified repair provider.
Samsung says moisture in a charging port may naturally evaporate in approximately 1 to 2 hours. That is a troubleshooting estimate, not a guarantee that every device is dry. Samsung recommends gently shaking the phone to help remove moisture; supported phones may be charged wirelessly once the device is thoroughly dry. Samsung’s moisture guidance has more detail.

Can you replace it yourself?
Samsung UK’s self-repair guide, updated 19 June 2026, covers the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. It demonstrates the S21 Ultra procedure and says key steps apply across the S21 series, while noting that port and connector locations vary by device. The guide describes its covered range as Galaxy S20, S21, S22, and certain Galaxy Book models. What the S21-series repair involves
For its S21-series procedure, Samsung lists a replacement charging port, screws, an internal metal plate, back-glass adhesive tape, and third-microphone-hole tape. Its listed tools include a heating bag, suction cup, opening picks, a PH0 screwdriver, and an opening tool. The steps include backing up the phone, powering it off and fully discharging the battery, and removing the SIM tray; the guide also calls for suitable safety equipment.
These instructions are specific to Samsung’s demonstrated procedure, not a general guide for every Galaxy phone. Samsung specifies a maximum of 65°C for the heating bag used in that procedure and says never to heat the phone in a microwave. Follow the exact guide for your model rather than applying S21 instructions to another device.

Match the part to the exact phone
Samsung warns that third-party replacement parts may not function properly and recommends authorized genuine parts. Do not assume a part will fit because a listing says “Samsung USB-C port.” Match the phone’s exact model number and the part specified for it. Replacing the port requires opening the phone, removing the back glass, and disconnecting internal components. Samsung warns that water-resistance performance cannot be guaranteed after a repair performed by a user or a non-skilled person. A successful port replacement should not be treated as proof that the phone’s original water resistance has been restored.

Samsung’s US self-repair page says self-repair itself does not invalidate the limited warranty, but damage caused by the repair attempt may not be covered. Genuine repair parts purchased through the US Self-Repair program have a 90-day limited warranty from delivery. When should you choose professional repair?
If you do not have the model-specific guide, tools, and experience to open the device safely, ask Samsung or a qualified repair provider to inspect it. Samsung US describes certified technician repair, mail-in service, partner locations, and self-repair resources. It lists faulty charging-port repair among its service offerings and says certified technicians use genuine Samsung parts.
