To clear temporary files for one troublesome Galaxy app, open Settings > Apps > [app] > Storage > Clear cache. It is the targeted first step for an app that is slow, malfunctioning, or using storage. Choose Clear data only if you mean to reset the app: that separate command removes saved app data and personal settings. Menu names can vary by Galaxy model, software version, and app.
Clear cache for one app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Find and select the app you want to troubleshoot. If available, use search to locate it.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
Those are Samsung’s current U.S. support steps. If your labels differ, look for that app’s storage screen in Settings; Samsung notes that steps vary by software version and selected app. Samsung’s Galaxy app cache and data instructions
Cache consists of temporary files an app may use again—for example, a saved copy of a webpage that can help it load faster next time. Removing those files may help when storage is low or a device is running slowly, but Samsung does not promise a particular amount of recovered space or a specific performance improvement. Clear cache and Clear data do different things
Clear cache removes temporary files, not the app’s saved data or settings, according to Samsung Canada. Clear data is a reset: Samsung says it restores the app to factory-default settings and removes personal settings or data saved in that app. Some system apps may not offer the option. Use Settings > Apps > [app] > Storage > Clear data only when you intentionally want that reset and understand what the app stores. Samsung’s U.S. instructions include a confirmation step labeled Delete. Do not confuse it with Clear cache.
Choose the cleanup method that matches the problem

Samsung U.S. says the only way to clear cache for every app at the same time is to perform a factory reset. That does not make a factory reset an appropriate shortcut for ordinary cache cleanup: it is a device reset, not the targeted action described above. Use Device Care for broader maintenance
For a general device check rather than one app’s cache, Samsung UK gives this version-dependent route: Settings > Battery and device care > Optimise now > Done. Older devices may instead show Device care or Fix now. Wipe the cache partition only as a separate recovery procedure
Samsung UK also documents Wipe cache partition in the recovery menu. The general procedure involves powering off, entering recovery with a model-specific button combination, selecting Wipe cache partition, confirming, and rebooting. Because the button combination depends on the device—and Samsung’s examples include older Galaxy generations—check instructions for your exact model rather than treating any one sequence as universal. If an app crashes as soon as it opens
For the specific case of certain Android apps crashing immediately at launch, Samsung UK points to updating Google Chrome and Android System WebView, attributing that issue to Google WebView.
