The Samsung AX32BG3100GBSA is a compact, app-connected air purifier with a washable pre-filter and a replaceable dust-and-deodorization filter. Samsung publishes a CADR of 320 m³/h, but the independent CHOICE page for this exact model does not reveal its test scores publicly. If you are considering it in South Africa, confirm local stock, warranty and the compatible replacement-filter SKU before buying; the available Australian listing cannot establish those local details.
What are the AX32BG3100GBSA’s specifications?
Samsung’s Australian product page identifies the product as the Essential Air Purifier AX32 and lists model number AX32BG3100GBSA. Its figures below are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements. Samsung does not provide a publication date for these specifications.

Samsung describes a washable pre-filter for larger dust particles and a combined 2-in-1 filter: a dust-collecting layer plus an activated-carbon deodorization layer. The unit also has a dust sensor and a four-color air-quality indicator. In Auto mode, Samsung says it adjusts among three fan levels based on detected pollution. Sleep mode reduces airflow and display lighting.
The purifier has embedded Wi-Fi and supports SmartThings. Samsung lists timer and off-time functions as app-only; app requirements and available functions can vary. The product page does not list a gas sensor, so the dust sensor and color indicator should not be treated as a measure of specific gases.

How well does it clean air?
Samsung states that its dust-collecting filter media captures up to 99.97% of ultrafine dust measuring 0.3 μm, citing testing by Korea Conformity Laboratories. It also says the carbon filter helps remove certain gases, naming formaldehyde, ammonia, acetaldehyde, acetic acid and toluene in its test note. These are manufacturer-reported claims about filter media; they do not establish whole-room removal rates in every room or operating condition.
Samsung also reports that zinc-oxide-treated dust-collecting filter media reduced the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae by up to 99.9%, citing FITI Testing & Research Institute of Korea. That claim concerns the filter media and should not be interpreted as a medical benefit or proof of whole-home disinfection.

CHOICE’s page for the exact model lists a claimed CADR of 320 m³/h and a claimed room size of 41 m². Those are listed claims, not public independent test results. CHOICE identifies its performance, dust, smoke, VOC, ease-of-use, energy-efficiency and noise scores as member-only, so its publicly available page does not support an independent overall score or a measured claim that the purifier outperforms another model.

The public CHOICE listing provides useful ownership and feature details, but not the model-specific test scores. It lists three fan settings, a HEPA filter, an app-only timer and a one-year warranty. It also lists an Australian price of A$399, a replacement-filter cost of A$119 and yearly filter cost of A$119, and marks the model discontinued in Australia. These are figures and status shown on CHOICE’s Australian-market page; they do not establish South African pricing, availability or warranty terms.

For a meaningful comparison with another purifier, use the same criteria and distinguish manufacturer claims from independent results:
- Compare claimed or independently measured CADR, and check the room-size assumptions behind any coverage figure.
- Compare noise at equivalent fan settings, rather than treating a single sound-pressure figure as a complete account of day-to-day noise.
- Check power use alongside the fan level and operating pattern you expect to use.
- Confirm the filter’s replacement interval, price and local availability, not just the purifier’s purchase price.
- Compare control features, including whether timers and other functions work on the unit or only through an app.
How often does the filter need replacing?
Samsung recommends replacing the main filter every 6–12 months, depending on room air quality and how long the purifier runs. The filter alert indicates when cleaning or replacement is needed. The washable pre-filter is for larger particles; the combined 2-in-1 filter is a consumable, not a washable filter.

The manual says not to wash the 2-in-1 filter with water. It advises using a Samsung-authorized filter of the matching type. Before ordering, check the purifier’s exact model suffix and verify the compatible filter type rather than assuming a filter for another AX32 variant will fit.
