To make a Samsung 6 Series TV show up on a phone, turn on the TV, connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network, then use a compatible connection method such as Smart View on a Galaxy phone or AirPlay on a supported Samsung TV and Apple device. If the TV still does not appear, check the exact model code: “6 Series” covers sets with different years, features, regions, and software.
Check the TV model before assuming a feature is supported
Find the full model code on the TV’s label or in its settings. The series name alone does not establish whether a particular set supports SmartThings discovery, AirPlay, or a specific mirroring menu. Samsung also notes that menus and feature names can vary by model and software version. Use the manual for the exact model if a setting named below is not present. Samsung’s screen-mirroring guide and its SmartThings pairing guidance describe the general requirements.
Choose the connection method that fits your device
| What you want to do | Typical method | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror a Galaxy phone’s screen | Smart View in Quick Settings | The TV and phone generally need the same Wi-Fi network; some TVs may need a mirroring input or setting enabled. |
| Add or control the TV in Samsung’s app | SmartThings | Confirm the TV is supported. Samsung’s UK pairing advice calls for the same Wi-Fi and Samsung Account. |
| Share from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac | AirPlay on a supported TV | Samsung UK says AirPlay is available on Samsung TVs manufactured after 2019; verify the exact model and region. |
| Send a video from a supported app | The app’s cast or AirPlay control | This sends selected app content, not necessarily the entire phone screen. |
| Avoid wireless discovery | Compatible phone-to-HDMI adapter and HDMI cable | The phone must support video output, and the TV needs an available HDMI input. |
These options are not interchangeable: full-screen mirroring duplicates the device display, while casting from an app typically sends that app’s content and leaves the phone as a controller. See Samsung’s screen-mirroring and connection guide for the methods it describes.

- Turn on the TV and Galaxy phone. Connect both to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the phone, swipe down to open Quick Settings and tap Smart View. It is built into Quick Settings; it is not a separate phone app.
- Choose the TV from the available-device list. Tap Start now, then approve the TV’s on-screen request or enter its PIN if prompted.
- If the TV is missing, refresh the list and check the troubleshooting steps below.
Some Samsung TVs may require changing to an appropriate input or enabling screen mirroring first. The exact control depends on the TV, so consult its model-specific manual rather than relying on a universal menu path. Samsung’s US instructions for screen mirroring cover Smart View, network setup, and TV approval prompts.

Add the TV in SmartThings
- Turn on the TV. Connect the phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network and use the same Samsung Account on both, as Samsung’s UK troubleshooting guidance recommends.
- Open SmartThings and choose Add or Add device. Select the TV or use the nearby-device scan option.
- When the TV appears, select it and enter the PIN shown on the TV screen to complete enrollment.
- If the TV is not detected, check that its exact model is supported, then follow the recovery sequence below.
Samsung says most of its TVs made from 2016 onward can be detected and connected through SmartThings, but that general statement does not guarantee support for every 6 Series model. Samsung also describes Bluetooth Low Energy setup without the same network for some Bluetooth-equipped TVs made after 2017; treat that as a conditional option, not a standard feature of every 6 Series set. Check Samsung’s supported-device and pairing guidance for your model.
Use AirPlay with an Apple device
Samsung UK says AirPlay can share content from Apple devices to Samsung TVs manufactured after 2019. The Apple device and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network, and the particular TV model and region must support AirPlay. Samsung’s UK guide gives this example TV path: Home > Menu > Settings > All settings > Connection > Apple AirPlay settings. Menu labels can differ by software version, so check the exact TV manual if the path does not match.

Why can’t my phone find my Samsung TV?
Work through these checks in order. They address the common causes: the TV is off or on another network, the selected method is unsupported, a pairing request was declined, or an app or device needs restarting or updating.

- Check power and Wi-Fi. Make sure the TV is on and that the phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. For SmartThings, also verify that both use the same Samsung Account.
- Confirm compatibility. Check the TV’s full model code against Samsung’s supported-device information, and confirm the phone or computer supports the method you are trying to use.
- Refresh and approve. Refresh the device list or reopen the app. Watch the TV for a connection prompt and select Allow; enter the displayed PIN if requested.
- Restart the devices. Power-cycle the TV and restart the phone. If you are using SmartThings, restart the app and try adding the TV again.
- Restart the router if needed. If the TV remains missing after the device and app restarts, reboot the router and retry.
- Install available updates. Check for updates to the phone, SmartThings app, and TV firmware.
- Check for a VPN error. Samsung advises disconnecting a VPN if it is causing a setting error during connection.
If the TV appears in the list but mirroring will not start, check for a TV permission prompt or a model-specific mirroring input or setting. If it appears but rejects pairing in SmartThings, recheck the account, network, and PIN before restarting the pairing process.

Use HDMI when wireless discovery is not practical
A separately sold HDMI adapter and cable can provide a wired alternative. First verify that the phone supports video output over its port and that the TV has a suitable HDMI input; a USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee video output. Connect the adapter and cable, then select the HDMI input used on the TV. Samsung describes this as a wired fallback in its screen-mirroring guide.

Record the TV’s complete model code, region, and software version, along with the phone model and the connection method you are trying. Use those details to check the TV’s manual and feature support. Without them, it is not possible to give a reliable universal menu path or guarantee that a particular 6 Series TV will support Smart View, SmartThings, or AirPlay.
