Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff reportedly announced that the company’s AIforce is now SIForce just days after a White House order told federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” in specified communications. The order does not require private companies to rename products. The episode instead highlights how federal language can create commercial and political pressure for technology vendors—though the available evidence does not establish that the order caused Salesforce’s reported name change.

What Benioff reportedly wrote

On October 9, 2026, Benioff posted on X: “The era of Super Intelligence is here. AIForce is officially SIForce,” according to TheStreet. The original X post was not accessible, so the wording and date should be treated as TheStreet’s report, not independently authenticated text.

TheStreet’s timeline puts the post 24 days after Salesforce unveiled AIforce at Dreamforce on September 15. Its September coverage described AIforce as a way to connect Salesforce data and workflows with tools such as Claude and Slack, while retaining existing permissions and offering zero-data-retention claims. The reported rename alone does not establish a change to the product’s features, price, or availability.

What the White House order says—and who it covers

Executive Order 14434, “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence,” was issued September 29, 2026. It directs executive-branch agencies, “to the maximum extent permitted by law,” to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in specified official correspondence and other non-statutory communications. The order also directs the preparation of proposed legislative language within 60 days. The White House order defines a terminology policy for covered federal communications; it does not order private companies to rename products.

That distinction matters: Salesforce’s reported change may align its branding with the administration’s preferred language, but the available evidence does not show that the government required it or that the order prompted it. TheStreet also reported an October 8 Trump post describing people who still used “Artificial Intelligence” as “THE ENEMY”; that detail has not been independently verified here.

Why the terminology could matter to tech vendors

A federal naming preference can have consequences beyond government offices without becoming a binding rule for private firms. Vendors that sell to or work with agencies may want product names and sales language to fit the terms used in government communications. That is a plausible commercial incentive, not proof of a procurement requirement or of Salesforce’s motive.

Salesforce already has a federal business relationship: the General Services Administration announced an agreement with the company on May 19, 2025. The GSA announcement establishes that relationship, but does not establish that every agency is covered by it or that the later terminology order caused a product rename.

The episode therefore points to a softer form of pressure: companies may anticipate how a political administration, public-sector customers, and procurement conversations will respond to terminology. Whether that pressure changes actual purchasing or product strategy is not established by the reported post.

How the reported naming choice compares with public preference

TheStreet cited a YouGov results page dated September 28, 2026, reporting that 53% of 21,449 U.S. adults preferred “artificial intelligence,” while 9% preferred “super intelligence.” Because the accessible YouGov page did not expose those figures in the available extraction, attribute them to TheStreet’s account rather than treating them as independently confirmed poll results.

The reported gap illustrates the tension: the government may prefer “SI” in its covered communications, while the public may be more familiar with “AI.” A terminology change could therefore make a vendor sound more aligned with federal language while making its product name less immediately recognizable to some users. The poll figures do not establish how customers will respond to Salesforce’s reported branding.

What has—and has not—been established

  • Established by the order: covered executive-branch communications should use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI,” subject to the order’s legal qualifier.
  • Established by the GSA release: GSA announced an agreement with Salesforce in May 2025.
  • Reported by TheStreet: Benioff’s October 9 post, the AIforce-to-SIForce change, the cited poll results, and the October 8 Trump post.
  • Not established: that the order legally applies to Salesforce’s branding, that it caused the reported rename, or that product functions, pricing, availability, or share performance changed as a result.

For context on the product’s original announcement, see TheStreet’s September 18 coverage of AIforce. The reported name change is a signal of how politically charged technology vocabulary can become, but the evidence supports a narrower claim than a government-mandated rebrand.
