Sometimes. On a Windows PC, a compatible pen button may act as a right-click, depending on the pen and its settings. On Galaxy phones and tablets, pressing the S Pen button while hovering opens Samsung’s Air Command menu, which is a set of shortcuts—not a general right-click menu. On a Samsung Galaxy Book, the documented button action also opens Air Command.
What does the S Pen button do?
It depends on the device and on what you mean by “right-click.” A right-click normally opens the context menu for an item or app. Air Command is Samsung’s separate menu of S Pen shortcuts. Samsung documents the hover-and-button action as opening Air Command on supported Galaxy devices, not as a universal context-menu command. Samsung’s Air Command guide describes shortcuts that can include notes, selection, and translation; the available features vary by device and software.
On Windows, an optional pen button may perform right-clicks, according to Microsoft’s pen interaction guidance. That general Windows behavior does not guarantee that every S Pen will right-click on every computer or in every app.

To open Air Command, remove the S Pen if it is stored in the device, or hover the pen over the screen and press its side button. If the floating Air Command icon is visible, you can tap it instead. Samsung notes that the menu’s options and settings can vary by model and software version.

If you need an app’s context menu, do not assume the Air Command shortcut will open it. The action available depends on the app and the particular device-and-pen combination. Samsung lists S Pen compatibility and features by model, so check the exact device rather than assuming all S Pens support the same functions: Samsung’s S Pen overview.
Right-clicking with a pen in Windows
Windows can assign an optional pen button to right-click, but the mapping depends on the pen, its configuration, and sometimes the application. On a supported Windows device, inspect the available controls at Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink. Windows may offer settings for tapping, double-tapping, or holding the shortcut button; the labels and choices can differ by device and Windows version.

- Identify the device and app. Confirm you are using Windows and note which app should display the context menu.
- Check the pen controls. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink and review the available shortcut-button actions.
- Try the configured action in the app. If the button opens a Samsung menu instead, or does nothing, check the device-specific pen behavior and compatibility rather than assuming the Windows default applies.
What is different on a Samsung Galaxy Book?
Samsung documents a specific Galaxy Book action: hover until the pointer appears, then press the pen button to open Air Command. That is Samsung’s shortcut menu, not necessarily the Windows context menu. Samsung’s guidance distinguishes Air Command versions and supported Galaxy Book model groups, so availability and setup vary by model and release year. First establish whether the expected result is Air Command or an app’s right-click menu. Then check that the pen is compatible with the specific device and that its button behavior is configured for the action you want. Samsung’s model-by-model compatibility information is important because S Pen features, including Bluetooth and Air Actions support, differ among pens and devices.

For a Galaxy Book where Air Command should be available but will not launch, Samsung recommends checking the Air Command app and relevant pen drivers or services through Samsung Update and Windows services. The precise components and steps depend on the Galaxy Book model and Air Command version; use the model-specific support guidance rather than applying a procedure for another model.
