No. The AMD Ryzen 3 1200 is not an APU and has no integrated graphics. AMD’s specification says “Discrete Graphics Card Required,” so a PC using this processor needs a separate graphics card to provide display output.

Why the Ryzen 3 1200 is not an APU

“APU” is commonly used for a processor that combines a CPU with integrated graphics. The Ryzen 3 1200 does not include that graphics capability: AMD explicitly requires a discrete graphics card in its Ryzen 3 1200 specifications.

In practical terms, the processor itself cannot drive a monitor. A motherboard’s video connector does not add graphics to a CPU that lacks them; you need a compatible graphics card installed in the system.

What AMD’s specifications say

The Ryzen 3 1200 is a Ryzen 1000 Series desktop processor with four CPU cores and four threads. AMD lists a 3.1 GHz base clock, boost clock up to 3.4 GHz, AM4 socket, and 65 W default TDP. Its graphics capability is listed as “Discrete Graphics Card Required.” These are model specifications, not a recommendation for a particular graphics card.

  • Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
  • Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs

AMD announced the Ryzen 3 1200 on July 27, 2017, in its Ryzen 3 launch announcement.

How it differs from a Ryzen processor with integrated graphics

The Ryzen 3 3200G illustrates the distinction. AMD lists Radeon Vega 8 Graphics and eight graphics cores for that model, while the Ryzen 3 1200 requires a separate graphics card.

What to check when building with a Ryzen 3 1200

  • Include a discrete graphics card in the build if you need the computer to provide display output.
  • Check the card against your power supply, case clearance, and intended workload; the CPU’s graphics specification does not identify a suitable card.
  • Confirm that the motherboard supports the processor and has the required BIOS version. Compatibility depends on the specific motherboard, and the graphics specification alone does not establish it.
