Neither card is a universal gaming winner. The RX 9060 XT 8GB leads in several of TechSpot’s tested games and presets, while ComputerBase’s 1080p results show wins for both cards, including a clear RTX 5060 lead in ARC Raiders and an RX 9060 XT lead in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Choose based on the games and settings you actually use, then compare the current local prices and the exact card models. Both GPUs in this matchup have 8GB of VRAM; the RX 9060 XT is also sold in a separate 16GB version, whose results should not be treated as results for this 8GB card.
At a glance: the result depends on the game
The available comparisons do not establish one card as faster across all games. TechSpot reports several Radeon wins, including Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and Rainbow Six Siege X. ComputerBase’s more recent 1080p tests show a mixed picture: the cards are nearly even in Anno 117 rasterization, the RTX 5060 is ahead in ARC Raiders, and the RX 9060 XT is ahead in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
These are results from particular games, settings and test systems—not a pooled average that predicts performance in every player’s library. If your main game appears in a review, its result is more useful to your decision than a general claim that one GPU “wins.” If it does not, compare more than one game with similar settings and rendering features.

| Question | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|
| Which models are being compared? | RX 9060 XT 8GB and GeForce RTX 5060 8GB. The RX 9060 XT also has a distinct 16GB configuration; do not substitute its results for the 8GB model. |
| Is one faster in every game? | No. Review results vary by title, resolution, preset and whether ray tracing is enabled. |
| Which is the better buy? | That depends on your game-specific performance needs and the current price of the precise board model available in your market. The cited performance tests do not establish current street prices or regional value. |
What the benchmark comparisons show
Use the numbers below as evidence about the named tests, not as a guarantee for another system. A GPU comparison can change with game version, drivers, test rig, graphics options, resolution and rendering mode. In particular, do not treat a ray-tracing chart as a rasterization result, or compare an upscaled run with a native-resolution run without accounting for that difference.

TechSpot: Radeon wins in several tested examples
In TechSpot’s 2025 comparison of the RTX 5060 and RX 9060 XT 8GB, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty favored the Radeon at both tested resolutions. With the Low preset, TechSpot reported the RX 9060 XT 8GB was 21% faster at 1080p and 18% faster at 1440p. With the High preset, it reported a 5% lead at 1080p and a 10% lead at 1440p. Those percentages apply to the named game, presets and review setup; they do not mean the Radeon is that much faster in other games.
The change in the reported gap between Low and High is a useful reminder that “same game” does not always mean “same workload.” Presets can alter the work the GPU must do, so compare the setting you plan to use rather than treating a single result as a fixed advantage. The 1080p and 1440p figures also answer different questions: if you play at one resolution, give that result more weight than a result from another.
TechSpot also reported Radeon wins in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at High and Very High, and in several listed Rainbow Six Siege X presets. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II under the described Ultra preset, the latest cards were close, with no more than 1–2 FPS separating them. These examples illustrate why the specific game and settings matter more than a single headline winner.

TechSpot noted that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at Very High demanded more than 10GB of VRAM even at 1080p. This is a finding about that game and setting, not a general claim that every 1080p game needs more than 8GB. It is, however, a reason to check the memory demands of the games and texture settings you intend to use before buying an 8GB card.

ComputerBase: three 1080p examples, three different patterns
ComputerBase’s 2026 page presents 1080p game results, with DLSS/FSR Quality and separate rasterization and ray-tracing charts. The following averages are the measurements reported for the named games and modes. They are not a combined average across games.
| Game and mode | RX 9060 XT 8GB | RTX 5060 8GB | What the result says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anno 117, rasterization | 68.2 average FPS | 67.4 average FPS | Near-even result, with a small Radeon lead in this test. |
| Anno 117, ray tracing | 55.0 average FPS | 55.5 average FPS | Near-even result, with a small GeForce lead in this test. |
| ARC Raiders, rasterization | 120.7 average FPS | 134.1 average FPS | GeForce lead in this test. |
| ARC Raiders, ray tracing | 93.0 average FPS | 111.0 average FPS | GeForce lead in this test. |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows, rasterization | 75.3 average FPS | 66.2 average FPS | Radeon lead in this test. |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows, ray tracing | 61.9 average FPS | 58.2 average FPS | Radeon lead in this test. |
The table makes the trade-off concrete: even within one test suite and resolution, leadership changes by game and rendering mode. A small difference such as the Anno 117 rasterization result may not matter as much to a buyer as a larger gap in a frequently played title. The figures are ComputerBase’s measurements under its test setup and settings; they should not be presented as a universal ranking or a prediction for every PC.

For context, the RTX 5060’s ARC Raiders rasterization average is 13.4 FPS above the Radeon’s in this test, while the Radeon’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows rasterization average is 9.1 FPS above the GeForce result. Those are differences between the listed averages, not promises about your system or a score across all games. The near-match in Anno 117 is equally useful: if the cards perform similarly in a game you play, other purchase factors may matter more than a small benchmark separation.
ComputerBase separates rasterization from ray tracing and includes DLSS/FSR Quality conditions on its page. Read the chart labels carefully so you know which mode a figure represents. A result with an upscaler is not interchangeable with a result rendered without one, and the corresponding mode should be considered on both GPUs when the comparison permits it.

AMD’s comparison: useful context, but vendor-produced
AMD published a direct RX 9060 XT 8GB versus RTX 5060 8GB comparison using Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Starfield at 1080p. AMD dates its test conditions to May 2025 and specifies a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory and Windows 11 Pro, with AMD driver 25.10 and NVIDIA driver 576.52. AMD also warns that system configurations can vary and produce different results.
Because these are manufacturer-produced results, keep that provenance visible when considering AMD’s performance claims; they are not independent validation. The setup details help identify what AMD tested, but they do not remove the difference in source. This comparison is specifically about the 8GB RX 9060 XT and 8GB RTX 5060, not AMD’s separate claims involving the RX 9060 XT 16GB and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB.
That makes AMD’s comparison a supplementary reference rather than a substitute for independent testing. It identifies four relevant games and a documented 1080p test rig, but any buying decision should distinguish those vendor-produced claims from TechSpot’s and ComputerBase’s review results. When several sources differ, first check whether they are describing the same game, resolution, settings, rendering mode and card configuration.
Review AMD’s published comparison and test conditions.
How to choose for your own games
A review result is most useful when it resembles how you play. Before buying, make a short list of your regular games and note the resolution, preset and features you plan to enable. Then use benchmarks that match those conditions as closely as possible.

- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
- Start with your most-played games. Give the greatest weight to titles you play often, rather than a broad average across games you may never install. Look for results for the exact game and, where possible, a similar game version and driver period.
- Match resolution and preset. A 1080p result does not establish the ranking at 1440p, and Low, High, Very High and Ultra settings can change the load. TechSpot’s Cyberpunk results show that even within the same game, the reported gap differs between Low and High.
- Match the rendering mode. Separate conventional rasterization results from ray-tracing results. If you intend to enable ray tracing, use a test that does so; do not infer the ray-tracing result from a rasterization chart.
- Check how upscaling is handled. ComputerBase’s page includes DLSS/FSR Quality and separate rasterization and ray-tracing charts. Compare runs with the same upscaling condition when possible, and label any difference rather than treating the frame rates as directly equivalent.
- Look beyond average FPS when the source provides it. Average FPS describes overall throughput, but frame-time consistency can affect how smooth a game feels. Check 1% lows alongside averages when a review reports them. The ComputerBase figures listed here are averages; they do not establish a 1% low comparison.
- Compare with your budget at the time and place you will buy. The cited testing does not settle current value, regional availability or live prices. Compare the actual prices of the two precise add-in-board models you can purchase, not a past launch price or an unverified general MSRP.
- Check the exact board listing before ordering. The benchmark sources do not provide a systematic comparison of board dimensions, cooler noise, warranty or power requirements. Those details can differ by card manufacturer and model, so confirm them for the specific listing and your PC.
You can make the comparison more useful with a small game-by-game checklist. For each title, write down your target resolution, whether you expect to use ray tracing, the preset you want, and whether you would accept an upscaling mode. Then mark which card leads in a review that matches those conditions. This keeps the decision tied to your use instead of giving every benchmark equal weight merely because it appears in a chart.
Avoid turning that checklist into a homemade “overall score” unless you have a sound reason for the weights. A game you play every week should count more to you than one you never plan to install. Likewise, an average across several unrelated titles can conceal a meaningful win or loss in your favorite game. The available ComputerBase examples themselves show how the ordering changes among Anno 117, ARC Raiders and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Once you know which card suits your games, compare the exact listings you can buy. Two cards built around the same GPU family may have different dimensions, cooling designs, noise behavior, warranty terms and power requirements. The cited benchmark comparisons do not establish which add-in-board implementation is quieter, smaller or better supported, so those are listing-level checks rather than reasons to assume one GPU family wins.
For price, use the local checkout price rather than a general claim about which model is “better value.” The test results do not provide live retail prices, regional stock or a price-to-performance verdict for your market. If one card is substantially cheaper where you live and performance in your priority games is close, that price difference may be decisive for your budget; if one is clearly stronger in a game you care about, you may decide the cost difference is worthwhile. The choice depends on your actual prices and priorities.
What 8GB of VRAM means here
Both cards in this matchup have 8GB of video memory. That makes this comparison different from one involving an RX 9060 XT 16GB: do not use a 16GB Radeon benchmark to represent the 8GB product. The available figures also do not establish a universal memory threshold for games. TechSpot’s example—more than 10GB demanded by Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at Very High, even at 1080p—is tied to that title and setting.
For a practical purchase decision, check whether the games you care about have memory-sensitive settings such as high-resolution textures, and whether reviews report stutters, reduced texture quality or other memory constraints on 8GB cards. If a particular game’s desired preset exceeds the card’s available memory, lowering texture quality or other demanding options may be necessary; the cited results do not quantify how much that changes performance in other games.
Do not read the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered observation as proof that either card will fail at 1080p generally. It is a warning about one game at one demanding preset. The relevant follow-up is whether your own games and preferred settings create similar memory pressure. If you cannot find a direct test for a title, avoid assuming that its VRAM needs match Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered; instead, check a review that reports the exact game and settings you intend to use.

Also keep capacity separate from frame rate. The fact that both products in this matchup have 8GB does not, by itself, tell you which card is faster in a given game. The benchmark charts answer performance questions under stated conditions; the VRAM observation highlights a possible limitation for a particular setting. Those are related buying considerations, but one does not replace the other.
Why review results can disagree
Two careful reviews can reach different outcomes without either result being a universal error. They may test different games, scenes, game builds, drivers, settings, resolutions or hardware configurations. They may also use different upscaling and ray-tracing conditions. The TechSpot Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty percentage leads and the ComputerBase game-specific FPS averages therefore answer different, bounded questions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Game selection: a GPU can win in one engine or title and lose in another.
- Settings and resolution: preset and pixel load affect how demanding a test is and can change the gap.
- Ray tracing and upscaling: these are distinct conditions and should be compared like for like.
- Test system and software: CPU, drivers, game patches and test methods can influence the recorded result.
- Card implementation: the exact add-in-board model is relevant to fit, cooling, acoustics and power, even when two cards use the same GPU family.
For these reasons, treat isolated results as evidence for a game and configuration, not as a promise about your own PC. A strong decision uses more than one relevant test and gives priority to the workloads you actually care about.
Check the date and test conditions when comparing reviews, too. TechSpot’s comparison is from 2025; ComputerBase’s cited page is from 2026. AMD documents a separate May 2025 test setup and identifies its drivers and components. Differences in dates can mean software, game builds or drivers differ, while each page may also use its own scenes and measurement method. A newer result is not automatically a better match for your setup, but it is important context when interpreting a disagreement.
Finally, keep the distinction between average FPS and other performance measures clear. The ComputerBase figures shown here are average frame rates. They do not report a 1% low comparison in the values listed, and an average alone does not describe every frame-time variation. If smoothness is important to you, use a review that reports lows or frame-time behavior for the game you play rather than inferring those details from the averages in this table.

The RX 9060 XT 8GB has persuasive wins in several TechSpot examples and leads in ComputerBase’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows results. The RTX 5060 8GB leads in ComputerBase’s ARC Raiders results, while the cards are nearly tied in its Anno 117 tests. That is a game-dependent contest, not a defensible universal win for either GPU.
Choose the RX 9060 XT 8GB if the games and settings you prioritize favor it in comparable independent tests and its exact local price and board model work for your build. Choose the RTX 5060 8GB if your own priority games favor it or its specific listing is the better fit. If performance is close in your games, use current local price and the card’s verified dimensions, cooling, warranty and power requirements to break the tie.

Before you buy, confirm that the product listing is for the RX 9060 XT 8GB or RTX 5060 8GB you mean to compare. In particular, do not let a benchmark for the RX 9060 XT 16GB stand in for the 8GB model. Then check a relevant independent result for your main games, match the settings as closely as possible, and compare the exact board’s fit and price. That process will give you a more reliable answer than a one-line claim that either GPU is best for everyone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is faster, the RX 9060 XT 8GB or RTX 5060?
There is no universal winner in the cited results. TechSpot reports RX 9060 XT 8GB wins in several examples, including Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and Rainbow Six Siege X. ComputerBase’s 1080p results show the RTX 5060 ahead in ARC Raiders, the Radeon ahead in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and a near tie in Anno 117. The better choice depends on the games and settings you use.
Are both cards 8GB models?
Yes. This comparison is between the RX 9060 XT 8GB and RTX 5060 8GB. AMD also sells an RX 9060 XT 16GB, but its benchmark results should not be treated as results for the 8GB model.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Does the RTX 5060 perform better with ray tracing?
Not across every game in the cited ComputerBase results. The RTX 5060 leads in ARC Raiders ray tracing (111.0 versus 93.0 average FPS), while the RX 9060 XT leads in Assassin’s Creed Shadows ray tracing (61.9 versus 58.2). The Anno 117 RT averages are nearly even, at 55.5 for the RTX 5060 and 55.0 for the Radeon. These are results for ComputerBase’s test conditions, not a universal ranking.
Is 8GB of VRAM enough for 1080p gaming?
The cited evidence does not establish a universal answer. TechSpot reported that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at Very High demanded more than 10GB even at 1080p, but that finding applies to that game and setting. Check memory-related results for the specific games and texture settings you plan to use.
Which card is the better value?
The benchmark sources do not establish current retail prices, regional availability or a live price-to-performance winner. Compare the actual local prices of the precise board models you can buy. If performance is close in your priority games, price and the card’s verified fit, cooling, warranty and power requirements can decide the purchase.
Can I compare average FPS from different review charts directly?
Only with care. Check that the game, resolution, preset, ray-tracing mode and upscaling condition match. ComputerBase’s cited figures are averages under its test setup, while TechSpot’s Cyberpunk results are percentage comparisons in specific presets and resolutions. Neither should be treated as a pooled score for all games or systems.
