Rust CCTV codes are case-sensitive identifiers entered in a powered Computer Station. The fixed monument codes below work on normal maps, while Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Labs generate new suffixes that you must read in-game. To monitor your own base, configure a deployed camera with a hammer, give it a unique identifier, connect its Power In, and add that identifier to the station.
What a Rust CCTV code does
A CCTV code is an identifier, not a password or a command. A Computer Station uses the exact text you enter to locate a camera feed. Capitalization, spelling, and every character matter, so OILRIG2HELI and oilrig2heli are different entries.
There are two kinds of feeds:
- Static monument identifiers: fixed strings used by cameras at monuments such as Oil Rig, Cargo Ship, Outpost, Dome, and Airfield.
- Dynamic identifiers: camera names with generated suffixes at Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Labs. The suffix changes with the map seed and wipe, so a code copied from an older session is not a reliable reference.
Rustpedia’s current page lists 61 identifier entries across 12 monuments. The fixed groups below total 46 named codes; the two Abandoned Military Base patterns and 13 Underwater Labs patterns bring the list to 61. A pattern is not a complete code until you replace its asterisks with the generated characters or digits shown in-game.
Complete Rust CCTV code list
Enter the codes exactly as written. The asterisks in the dynamic entries are explanatory placeholders; they are not characters you type into the station.

How to view a monument camera
1. Craft a Computer Station
The official recipe requires five high quality metal, one RF broadcaster, one RF receiver, and one targeting computer. It is researched and crafted at Workbench Level 2. The listed craft time is 30 seconds at Level 2 or 15 seconds at Level 3. Gather all four ingredient types before starting so the station can be placed and wired in one trip.
The station is the viewing terminal; it does not create a camera feed by itself. You still need a valid monument identifier or a configured player camera. If you are preparing several stations for a team, each terminal can be set up with the identifiers your group needs.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →2. Place and power it
Place the station on a floor tile in your base and connect it to an electrical source. The station must be powered before its camera interface can be used. If the terminal does not open or feeds remain unavailable, check the station’s electrical input before changing identifiers. A powered station is also easier to test immediately: add one known static code first, then add dynamic or private entries.
3. Add the identifier
- Sit at the Computer Station.
- In the camera panel, find the field labeled Identifier to Add.
- Type the code exactly, including capital letters and numbers.
- Select Add.
- Choose the saved camera name in the station’s list to open its feed.
Adding a code saves it to that station’s list; you can repeat the process for every feed you want to monitor. A static code can be entered from your base without visiting the monument. For a practical routine, enter the fixed cameras you use frequently, test one feed, and then add the rest. If one entry fails, you can isolate that code without disrupting the working entries.
Keep monument names beside the identifiers in your notes. Similar prefixes, such as the two Oil Rig families or the many Cargo and Silo views, are easy to confuse when entering them quickly. The station accepts the string as typed, so a single missing letter produces a failed lookup rather than a partial match.
Dynamic codes: Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Labs
Abandoned Military Base
The two camera families are COMPOUND followed by six generated characters and OUTDOOR followed by six generated characters. Visit the monument and read the complete values from the computer station in the communications tent. Copy the current strings exactly, then enter them at your base. The generated suffix is tied to the current map seed and wipe, so a screenshot or note from a previous wipe may fail.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDo not type six literal asterisks, and do not assume every Abandoned Military Base uses the same ending. Record which prefix belongs to each view when you copy the values. If you are gathering both feeds, verify both complete identifiers at the communications tent before leaving; returning later costs another trip through the monument.
Underwater Labs
Underwater Labs use 13 prefixes, each followed by four generated digits. The current values are displayed in the keycard-locked CCTV station module inside the lab. You must reach that module and record the exact suffix for the lab instance you are using. Do not substitute a suffix from another lab, seed, or wipe.

Dynamic identifiers are useful when you need a live view of a particular generated monument, but they require an in-person visit whenever the map instance changes. Treat the prefix as a pattern, not as a complete code. Keep the four digits attached to the right prefix: LAB and LOCKERROOM, for example, are separate entries even when read at the same station.
How to install a CCTV camera in your base
Configure the deployed camera
- Deploy the CCTV Camera where you want the view.
- Equip a hammer and use it on the deployed camera to open its configuration.
- Assign a unique identifier of up to 32 characters. Use a hard-to-guess name rather than an obvious word.
- Connect electrical power to the camera’s Power In input.
- Power the Computer Station, sit at it, and add the identifier in Identifier to Add.
- Select the saved entry to test the feed.
Facepunch’s setup guidance states that a hammer is required after placement and allows up to 32 characters for the identifier. It also warns against obvious names such as lootroom: anyone who knows the identifier can request the feed. A random phrase with mixed letters and numbers gives private cameras a practical layer of obscurity.
Set the identifier before you run the final cable whenever possible, then test the view while standing at the station. This confirms three separate conditions in one pass: the camera is deployed, the name was saved correctly, and the circuit is delivering power. If you later rename the camera, update the station entry to match the new string exactly.
Power requirements
The current official item data lists the CCTV Camera at 3 rW and identifies Power In as its electrical input. The Eye In The Sky update likewise states that all cameras require 3 power. Provide that requirement continuously; a camera with no power cannot answer a station request. Check the cable at the camera itself, not only the source, because an intact-looking circuit is useless if the connection is not on Power In.
Range and access
Facepunch states that Computer Station access has no range restriction. Once the camera and station are powered and the identifier is correct, distance between them is not the usual cause of a failed feed. Identifier secrecy still matters: a player who learns the string can try to access the camera from a station.
Protect both ends of the system. A hidden station prevents strangers from sitting down and browsing its saved entries, while a protected camera prevents it from being destroyed or disconnected. No-range access is convenient for a large compound, but it does not replace physical security or a non-obvious identifier.

PTZ cameras and Rust+
Pan, tilt, and zoom
The PTZ camera adds pan, tilt, and zoom controls instead of a single fixed viewpoint. It must be placed on a ceiling, so plan the mounting surface before running wiring. The Eye In The Sky update records that the PTZ camera is unlocked through the Workbench Level 2 tech tree.
Compared with a fixed player-deployed camera, PTZ lets one device cover more angles, but the ceiling requirement can limit placement in a cramped starter base. Make sure the mounting location is protected and that the power cable can reach Power In without exposing the camera to easy attack. The same identifier rules apply: configure it with a hammer, keep the name within 32 characters, and add that exact name to the station.

Viewing through Rust+
Facepunch introduced camera viewing in Rust+ as an alpha feature in its announcement. That announcement described low-quality phone rendering and required the then-current Rust+ app version. Treat phone viewing, app compatibility, and image quality as version-sensitive rather than permanent guarantees; if the option is absent, update the app and check the current game notes.
Rust+ does not remove the need for a configured, powered camera or a valid identifier. The Computer Station remains the dependable in-game terminal. Use phone viewing as a convenience when the current game and app support it, not as a substitute for checking power, placement, or code spelling.
Choosing the right camera approach
| Choice | Identifier behavior | View and control | Main advantage | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Static monument camera | Fixed code on normal maps | View-only feed through a Computer Station | Predictable and quick to add from a base | The camera location and survival depend on the monument instance |
| Abandoned Military Base camera | Generated six-character suffix | View through a station after reading the communications-tent terminal | Access to that monument’s current instance | Code changes with the map seed and wipe |
| Underwater Labs camera | Generated four-digit suffix after one of 13 prefixes | View through a station after checking the keycard-locked module | Specific lab-room coverage | Requires a current in-lab lookup and the correct lab instance |
| Player-deployed fixed camera | Your own hammer-assigned identifier, up to 32 characters | Fixed view through a powered station | Private placement and a name you control | Needs power, physical protection, and identifier secrecy |
| PTZ camera | Your own configured identifier | Pan, tilt, and zoom; ceiling mount required | Active control of the viewing angle | Requires ceiling placement, power, and Level 2 tech-tree unlock |
| Computer Station viewing | Any saved identifier | Full in-game terminal display | Most established and predictable method | Requires access to a powered station |
| Rust+ phone viewing | Camera identifiers are still required | Phone rendering where the current game and app support it | Remote convenience | Feature status and quality can change between versions |
Choose static monument feeds when you want predictable names and no setup at the camera. Choose a private fixed camera when placement and control of the identifier matter more than a known public view. PTZ is the flexible option for a defended base, provided you can satisfy ceiling mounting and the Level 2 unlock. Dynamic monument feeds are the least convenient to maintain because every wipe or changed instance can require a new lookup.
Why a feed says NO SIGNAL or WEAK SIGNAL
NO SIGNAL
Rustpedia classifies NO SIGNAL as a wrong identifier or a camera that has been destroyed or removed. First compare every character with the published code, including capitalization. For a private camera, recheck the hammer-assigned name. If the spelling is correct, the monument camera may no longer exist in that state, so try again later or remove the stale entry.
For dynamic feeds, treat an old suffix as a likely cause even when the prefix looks correct. Return to the communications tent or Underwater Labs module and copy the current full value. For a private camera, inspect the physical device as well as the station list: a destroyed camera cannot be restored by repeatedly adding the same identifier.
WEAK SIGNAL
WEAK SIGNAL normally means the camera has been shot and is temporarily disabled. Rustpedia describes an outage of approximately five minutes. Waiting and retrying is the appropriate first response; changing the code will not repair a camera that is merely recovering.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Use the waiting period to check that the station remains powered and that the saved entry has not been mistyped. If the feed is still unavailable after about five minutes, investigate it as a separate power, identifier, or destruction problem rather than assuming the temporary disablement is continuing.
Private camera does not appear
- Confirm the camera is actually deployed and has a cable on Power In.
- Verify the identifier was assigned with a hammer after placement.
- Check that the identifier is no more than 32 characters and matches the station entry exactly.
- Confirm the Computer Station itself is powered.
- Remember that the camera’s listed consumption is 3 rW; an unpowered circuit prevents a feed.
- Test from the station after each correction so you know which change fixed the problem.
Dynamic code fails
- Return to the current monument and copy the complete suffix from its local CCTV station.
- Do not type the asterisks shown in a guide; they indicate generated characters or digits.
- Do not reuse a value from a previous wipe, another map seed, or a different Underwater Lab instance.
- Check that the suffix is attached to the correct prefix and that no spaces were added while copying.
Practical security and maintenance
Use identifiers that are difficult to guess
A code is the lookup key for a feed. Names such as camera1, base, or lootroom advertise their purpose. Use a random-looking string within the 32-character limit, keep it out of public chat, and change it if other players learn it.

Give teammates the identifier through a private channel and avoid labeling a station entry with more information than necessary. A discreet identifier does not make a camera invulnerable, but it prevents casual discovery by players who only know common names.
Keep a wipe-specific code record
Maintain a short list of the static monument codes you use most often, then add dynamic entries only after visiting the current map. Mark dynamic entries with the monument and wipe so an old suffix is not mistaken for a permanent code. Static entries can remain in your notes across normal map wipes, while dynamic entries should be replaced whenever the seed or lab instance changes.

A station and camera both need uninterrupted power. Place the station where unauthorized players cannot sit at it, route wiring safely, and mount PTZ hardware on a protected ceiling. A correct identifier cannot restore a camera that has been destroyed or is still disabled after being shot.
When expanding a base, test each new camera before enclosing the wiring. Early testing catches a reversed or missing Power In connection while the device is easy to reach. Keep a spare note of which identifier corresponds to each view, especially when several private cameras use similar naming conventions.

- Computer Station crafted at Workbench Level 2 or higher.
- Five high quality metal, one RF broadcaster, one RF receiver, and one targeting computer available for crafting.
- Station placed on a floor tile and powered.
- Static code copied with exact capitalization, or dynamic code read at the current monument.
- Private camera configured with a hammer and a unique identifier of up to 32 characters.
- Camera Power In connected; allow 3 rW for the camera.
- Identifier added through Identifier to Add, then selected from the saved list.
- NO SIGNAL checked for spelling, destruction, or removal; WEAK SIGNAL given about five minutes to recover.
Bottom line
For normal monuments, start with the fixed identifiers in the table and enter them exactly in a powered Computer Station. For Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Labs, obtain the current generated suffix in person. A base camera adds control and privacy but requires hammer configuration, a concealed identifier, power, and protection; a PTZ model additionally needs ceiling placement and the Level 2 tech-tree unlock.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Rust CCTV camera codes?
The fixed codes are grouped by monument in the complete table above. Large and Small Oil Rig, Outpost, Bandit Camp, Cargo Ship, Nuclear Missile Silo, Ferry Terminal, Dome, Radtown, and Airfield use the listed static identifiers. Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Labs use generated suffixes that must be read in-game.
How do I add a code to a Computer Station?
Power the station, sit at it, enter the exact identifier in Identifier to Add, select Add, and then choose the saved camera entry. Capitalization and every character must match.
Why does my Rust CCTV show NO SIGNAL?
NO SIGNAL usually means the identifier is wrong or the camera was destroyed or removed. Recheck capitalization and spelling, verify a private camera’s hammer-assigned name and power, and obtain a fresh dynamic suffix at the monument if needed.

What does WEAK SIGNAL mean?
WEAK SIGNAL normally indicates that the camera was shot and is temporarily disabled. Wait approximately five minutes, then retry the feed.
Do Rust CCTV codes change after a wipe?
Static monument codes normally remain the same on normal maps. Abandoned Military Base suffixes regenerate from the map seed and wipe, and Underwater Labs use generated four-digit suffixes for each lab instance, so those values must be reread.

The official item data and the Eye In The Sky update list camera consumption as 3 rW, supplied through the Power In connection.
Can I access a camera from far away?
Facepunch states that Computer Station access has no range restriction. Distance is therefore not normally the reason for a failed feed once the camera, station, identifier, and power are correct.
Where do I find Abandoned Military Base camera codes?
Read the complete COMPOUND and OUTDOOR identifiers at the computer station in the monument’s communications tent. Replace the six-character placeholder with the current generated suffix.
Where do I find Underwater Labs camera codes?
Use the keycard-locked CCTV station module inside the lab. It displays the current four-digit suffix for each of the 13 camera prefixes; do not reuse a suffix from another lab or wipe.
What is a PTZ camera in Rust?
A PTZ camera provides pan, tilt, and zoom controls. It must be ceiling-mounted and is unlocked through the Workbench Level 2 tech tree.
The Bottom Line
Use the fixed identifiers for predictable monument feeds, read dynamic suffixes at the current monument, and configure private cameras with a hammer, concealed identifier, Power In, and a powered Computer Station. PTZ cameras add pan, tilt, and zoom but require ceiling placement and the Level 2 unlock.
