Samsung Dual Messenger installs a second copy of a supported messaging app so you can sign in to a separate account on the same Galaxy phone. To check whether your phone supports the app, open Settings → Advanced features → Dual Messenger. The list shown there—not a general compatibility list—is the reliable check for your model, software version, and region.
What Samsung Dual Messenger does
Dual Messenger creates a separate app copy; it does not turn one account into two. Open the second app, identified by a Dual Messenger badge, and sign in with the other account’s credentials. The feature is limited to selected apps, and availability depends on the Galaxy device and Android version. Samsung’s examples of commonly supported apps include WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Skype, Snapchat, Viber, LINE, Telegram, KakaoTalk, Zalo, and Kik, among others. This list is indicative rather than a guarantee: if the app does not appear in Dual Messenger on your phone, Samsung says the feature cannot be used for it there. Samsung’s Dual Messenger overview was updated April 8, 2025, and Samsung Singapore’s setup guidance also notes device and app availability limits.
How to set up a second app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features, then Dual Messenger.
- Switch on the supported messaging app you want to duplicate.
- Confirm installation when prompted.
- Open the new app icon marked with the Dual Messenger badge and sign in to the separate account.
This is Samsung’s general setup path; labels and availability can vary by model and software. If you cannot find Dual Messenger or the app you want, consult the actual settings screen on your device. Accounts and phone numbers
Each app copy needs its own account. A second copy alone does not create a second account or bypass the messaging service’s sign-in rules. Samsung’s Japan guidance says two messaging accounts require two phone numbers; treat that as applying to the relevant services and account setup, not as a universal rule for every app’s authentication policy. Check the service’s own account requirements before starting a second registration. Samsung Japan explains the account and phone-number requirement.

Choose which contacts the second app can use
When available, Dual Messenger offers a separate contact-list setting for the duplicated app. Turn on the separate list if you want to restrict the second app to chosen contacts; if it is off, Samsung says the copy uses the phone’s device contacts. This is useful for work and personal accounts, but consider whether the second account needs to reach contacts that are not in its separate list. Limitations and removing the second copy
The duplicated app may not have every feature available in the original. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 EU user manual states, “Some features of the app may be limited for the second app.” The manual also says that uninstalling the second app deletes data associated with that copy, and removing the original app removes the second one as well. Before uninstalling, check that any messages or other information you need are backed up or synchronized through the service. These behaviors are documented in the Galaxy Z Fold6 EU user manual; exact behavior may depend on the device and software.
