For a personal Roku account, Roku’s guidance sets a minimum password length of 8 characters. It recommends a unique password and a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols, but does not describe every character type as mandatory. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a reset by email; Roku says the reset link is valid for one hour.
Personal Roku account password requirements
Roku’s password guidance, on an Australia-locale support page, says a personal account password should be at least 8 characters long. Treat that as Roku’s stated minimum; localized guidance or the live sign-up form may differ.
Roku recommends making the password unique and combining uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. That mix is advice, not a stated requirement that every personal-account password must include all four character types. Roku also suggests using a password manager to generate, save, and autofill passwords, or choosing a memorable passphrase made from mixed words and characters.

- Reusing a password from another account, or using your account email as the password.
- Choosing common phrases, names, dates, or keyboard patterns.
- Sharing your password with other people.
Roku’s reviewed guidance does not state a maximum password length or document whether spaces or particular characters are accepted by the current password form. Its passphrase example is not enough to establish how the live form handles spaces.

Change a password when you can still sign in
If you know your current password, Roku’s U.S. support instructions say to sign in and open Account information. Enter and confirm the new password, then save the changes. This route requires the current password.
Reset a forgotten password
- On Roku’s account recovery page, request a password reset email using the address associated with your account.
- Open the message and follow its reset link. Roku says the link is valid for one hour.
- Enter a new password, then return to my.roku.com and sign in.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder and confirm that you entered the right address.

If you do not remember which email is on the account
On a Roku streaming device, check Home > Settings > System > About. Roku also says the account email can be found in the account area of the Roku Smart Home app. If you no longer have access to the registered email address, contact Roku Support for help.

Do not confuse a personal account with Roku Ads Manager
Roku Ads Manager is a separate business advertising platform, not the account used for a personal Roku device. Its help center specifies a different policy: a minimum of 10 characters, including lowercase and uppercase letters, a number, and a special character. Those rules apply to Ads Manager; do not assume they are the requirements for a personal Roku account.

What Roku has said about account security
In a company security post, Roku described responding to credential-stuffing incidents, including resetting passwords for affected accounts. The post also said two-step verification had been enabled for online Roku account logins at the time it was published. That is historical context, not a complete description of the authentication flow currently available to every account.
