If the ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 loses HDMI, USB, and Ethernet at the same time, start with the shared USB-C connection rather than troubleshooting three unrelated ports. The host device must support both USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery, and the dock needs USB-C power for its rated output. Then isolate the dock with one display, one simple USB device, and one Ethernet cable before adding peripherals back.
ASUS says the DG310 is plug-and-play with no driver installation required. It is listed for Windows 11 or later, macOS 12.3 or later, and Android 14 or later. The following sequence separates host compatibility, power, cable, display, network, and hardware faults without assuming that every simultaneous failure means the dock is defective.
Check the DG310’s requirements first
The DG310 carries video, USB data, and Ethernet through one fixed USB-C host cable. That arrangement makes the host port and power path common points of failure.
The host USB-C port must support video and power
Use a USB-C port explicitly specified for DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. A connector that has the USB-C shape but supports only charging or ordinary USB data cannot drive the dock’s HDMI output. It may also prevent the dock from working as expected because the DG310 is designed around a compatible USB-C host connection.

ASUS lists support for Windows 11 or later, macOS 12.3 or later, and Android 14 or later. The dock is optimized for the ROG Xbox Ally family, but other devices can use its ports when their USB-C port meets the same Alt Mode and Power Delivery requirements.
A charger is not included
The package contains the dock, manual, and warranty card; ASUS does not include a charger. For the dock’s full 80 W output, ASUS recommends a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated at 100 W or higher. Connect that charger to the DG310’s USB-C power input before judging the dock’s behavior.
The 100 W recommendation describes the charger’s rating, while 80 W is the dock’s maximum output under suitable USB-C PD input. Those figures do not mean that every host or peripheral will receive 80 W; the host, charger, cable, and device negotiate available power.

| DG310 connection | Published specification |
|---|---|
| HDMI output | One HDMI 2.1 output |
| USB-A | Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, rated at 5 Gbps |
| USB-A current limits | Two ports at 5 V/0.9 A; one port at 5 V/1.5 A |
| Wired network | One Gigabit Ethernet port |
| Power | USB-C power input |
| Host lead | Fixed 60 cm USB-C cable, rated at 5 Gbps and up to 80 W output |
The different USB-A current ratings matter when you test bus-powered storage, lighting, portable drives, or other high-draw equipment. Begin with a keyboard or mouse, which provides a cleaner test than a device that may exceed a port’s current limit.

Why HDMI, USB, and Ethernet can disappear together
When all three interfaces stop working simultaneously, the most useful first suspects are the shared host USB-C port, the fixed host cable connection, USB-C PD power, or a fault inside the dock. This is a diagnostic inference from the DG310’s single-cable architecture, not a published ASUS failure classification.
If only HDMI fails while USB and Ethernet continue to work, concentrate on DisplayPort Alt Mode, the HDMI cable, display input selection, and display-mode settings. If USB and Ethernet also vanish, do not spend time changing refresh rates until you have confirmed the host port and power path.
Use a controlled cold-reconnect test
A minimal setup prevents one bad peripheral, overloaded port, or invalid display mode from obscuring the underlying problem. ASUS does not describe the following sequence as a guaranteed repair; it is a practical isolation procedure for a single-cable dock.

- Shut down or put the host to sleep. This removes active USB and display sessions before you change the dock’s power state.
- Disconnect the DG310’s fixed host USB-C cable from the host. Leave the dock disconnected from the computer while you reset its power.
- Disconnect USB-C power from the dock. If you have not already done so, connect a USB-C PD charger rated at 100 W or higher to the dock’s power input.
- Reconnect dock power first. Allow the dock to receive power before attaching the host.
- Reconnect the fixed host cable. Push the connector fully into the compatible USB-C port.
- Attach only three test items: one display, one simple USB device such as a keyboard or mouse, and one Ethernet cable.
- Wake or restart the host and test each interface. Record exactly which ports return before adding any other device.
If the minimal setup works, reconnect your normal peripherals one at a time. The first device or cable that causes the failure identifies the branch that needs attention.

Fix an HDMI display that is not detected
1. Verify the display path
- Select the HDMI input to which the dock is connected. TVs and monitors often remain on a different input after a cable is moved.
- Reseat the HDMI plug at both the DG310 and the display. A connector that is almost inserted can produce a black screen or intermittent detection.
- Try a known-good HDMI 2.1 cable. Then test another HDMI input on the same display.
- If available, test a second monitor or TV. This distinguishes the dock and host from a faulty display input.
2. Start with a conservative display mode
Before attempting a high-refresh or high-resolution mode, select a conservative resolution and refresh rate in the host’s display settings. ASUS states that the actual resolution and refresh rate depend on the host’s video output capability, the HDMI cable, and the display.
Under suitable conditions, the HDMI 2.1 connection supports up to 3840×2160 at 144 Hz or 7680×4320 at 30 Hz. These are maximum modes, not a promise that every host, cable, or monitor combination will reach them. A host with limited DisplayPort Alt Mode output may support a lower mode even when the dock and monitor are functioning normally.
3. Confirm Alt Mode on the host
If the display remains absent but USB devices and Ethernet work, inspect the host’s specifications for DisplayPort Alt Mode on that exact USB-C port. Some computers and handhelds provide video on one USB-C port but not another. A USB-C port without video Alt Mode cannot produce HDMI output through the DG310, regardless of the HDMI cable.

Test with low-complexity devices first
- Insert a known-working keyboard or mouse into the first USB-A port.
- Repeat the test in the second and third ports.
- After basic input works, test a flash drive and check whether the host mounts it.
- Only then reconnect higher-draw devices such as portable hard drives or other bus-powered accessories.
All three USB-A ports are rated at 5 Gbps. Two provide 5 V/0.9 A, while one provides 5 V/1.5 A. A device that needs more current may fail to start on a 0.9 A port even though the port is operating correctly. Move that device to the 1.5 A port, use its own power supply where applicable, or test with a low-power peripheral to verify the dock.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Interpret the result by port
- One port works and another does not: inspect the failing port for debris or physical damage and compare it with a known-good device. The result points to a port-specific issue rather than the host connection.
- No USB-A port works, but HDMI and Ethernet do: reconnect the host cable, test another compatible USB-C host port, and retest with a keyboard or mouse. A shared USB data-path problem is more likely than a power draw issue.
- No USB-A port, HDMI, or Ethernet works: return to the host-compatibility and PD-power checks in the cold-reconnect procedure.
Fix Ethernet that is not detected
Check the physical network path
- Remove and firmly reseat the Ethernet plug in the DG310.
- Reseat the other end at the router or switch.
- Try a different Ethernet cable.
- Try another router or switch port.
- Test the same cable and network port with another known-working Ethernet device if one is available.
ASUS wired-network guidance starts with loose or damaged cables and a different network path. These swaps are more informative than repeatedly restarting the router because they separate a dock-side connection problem from a cable, switch, or router-port fault.
Check the host’s network device
After the cable and network-path tests, look in the host operating system for a newly detected wired network adapter. If the operating system reports that a driver is required, obtain the current driver from ASUS Support. The DG310’s general setup is described as driver-free, so do not begin by installing random third-party drivers; use ASUS’s support material only when the operating system specifically indicates a driver issue or ASUS publishes one for your configuration.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Compare a known-good setup with the suspect setup
Write down the result of each swap instead of changing several variables at once. The following comparisons isolate the components that can produce a simultaneous failure.
Recommended Free Tools
| Comparison | What to change | What the result tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Host port | Move the fixed cable from the suspect USB-C port to another port explicitly supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. | If the dock returns, the original host port or its configuration is the leading suspect. |
| HDMI cable | Replace the installed lead with a known-good HDMI 2.1 cable. | If video returns, keep the replacement cable and discard or isolate the suspect lead. |
| Display input | Use another HDMI input or a second monitor/TV. | If only the second input or display works, investigate the original display path. |
| Ethernet cable | Replace the network cable and change the router or switch port. | If networking returns, the original cable or network port was the fault. |
| Power capacity | Use USB-C PD input rated at 100 W or higher. | This tests the ASUS-recommended input for full 80 W dock output. |
Keep the host, dock, and test device constant while making each comparison. A change that restores only one interface narrows the fault to that interface; a change that restores all three points to the shared path.

Drivers, firmware, and ASUS support tools
Do not assume a driver is required
ASUS’s DG310 FAQ says, “Just plug it in — no driver installation is required.” For a supported host and a correctly powered dock, begin with the physical and compatibility checks rather than downloading a generic dock driver.
If the operating system explicitly requests a network driver, use the current package from ASUS Support. Do not infer that a driver is the cause when HDMI, USB, and Ethernet all failed together; a shared USB-C or power problem remains more consistent with that symptom.
Use the DG310 support hub after isolation
The DG310 support hub provides Driver & Tools, FAQ, Manual & Document, Warranty, and service-support paths. Check those sections after you have completed the controlled cable, host, display, network, and power tests. This gives support a reproducible description instead of a general report that “the dock does not work.”

When the dock is probably at fault
Escalate when one known-good compatible host, a correctly powered DG310, and known-good test cables still produce no HDMI, USB-A, or Ethernet response. Before contacting ASUS, record:
- Host model, operating system, and the exact USB-C port used.
- Whether that port is documented for DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery.
- USB-C PD charger rating and whether it was connected to the dock’s power input.
- HDMI cable, display input, and conservative display mode used.
- Which USB-A device was tested in each port and whether it required substantial power.
- Ethernet cable, router or switch port, and whether a second network path was tried.
- The result of the cold reconnect and each known-good versus suspect comparison.
If the dock fails identically on a second compatible host after those checks, use the DG310 warranty or service-support path. A documented isolation record helps ASUS distinguish a host-side compatibility issue from a dock-level hardware fault.
