A report published by GameGPU says an enthusiast benchmark averaged 150.77 FPS—rounded to 151—in Cyberpunk 2077 using an ROG Ally X connected to an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT external GPU. The result used AMD FSR 3.1 frame generation at 3440×1440; it is not 151 FPS of native rendered frames, nor a result established for every ROG handheld. GameGPU identifies the device as the ROG Ally X, while the linked Reddit post calls it “xbox rog ally x,” so its identity as the ROG Xbox Ally X is not conclusively verified.
What the 151 FPS claim means
GameGPU’s October 11, 2026 report attributes the benchmark to an enthusiast’s setup and gives an average of 150.77 FPS, a minimum of 101.67 FPS, and a maximum of 192.57 FPS. The game’s built-in benchmark processed 9,688 frames in 64.26 seconds. These are figures from one reported test, not a controlled comparison or a prediction of typical performance. GameGPU’s report is the source for the result and its test settings.
The headline figure includes generated frames. FSR 3.1 frame generation creates additional displayed frames; therefore, the reported output should not be read as 151 frames rendered natively by the game each second, or as a standalone measure of input responsiveness.
Settings and system reported for the benchmark
GameGPU lists the following configuration for the 150.77 FPS average:

- Game: Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.31, using its built-in benchmark.
- Display resolution: 3440×1440.
- Graphics: ray-traced reflections and shadows, with Ultra lighting and path tracing off.
- Upscaling and frame generation: AMD FSR resolution scaling in Automatic mode, sharpness 0.50, and AMD FSR 3.1 frame generation.
- Software: Windows 11 Home and Radeon Software 26.5.1.
- Hardware: a device GameGPU calls ROG Ally X and an external Radeon RX 9070 XT. The report does not identify the dock used.
Resolution, ray tracing, upscaling, frame generation, drivers, and the external connection all shape the result. The report’s average, minimum, and maximum describe that benchmark run; they do not establish how the game will perform in every scene or on another setup.
Why the handheld model name is uncertain
The assignment’s headline names the ROG Xbox Ally X, but GameGPU calls the tested handheld “ROG Ally X.” Its linked Reddit post is titled “9070 xt egpu for xbox rog ally x”; that post describes buying an eGPU setup but does not itself provide benchmark figures or a benchmark method. The wording is not enough to verify that the tested unit was the ROG Xbox Ally X, so the 151 FPS result should be attributed to the device as GameGPU identifies it.

Windows Central’s review provides context for the Xbox-branded handheld, listing a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, a 120 Hz display, and USB4 Type-C connectivity. Its separate Cyberpunk results use HYPR-RX and concern the handheld’s built-in graphics, not the RX 9070 XT eGPU benchmark. Read Windows Central’s ROG Xbox Ally X review.
How a separate RX 9070 XT eGPU test compares
Notebookcheck reported a different RX 9070 XT eGPU test with an ROG Ally X over USB4. It is useful context, but its settings and test are not the same as GameGPU’s, so the results do not directly contradict one another.

| Reported test | Configuration and result |
|---|---|
| GameGPU, October 11, 2026 | Cyberpunk 2077 2.31 at 3440×1440; ray-traced reflections and shadows, Ultra lighting, FSR Automatic scaling, and FSR 3.1 frame generation. Reported average 150.77 FPS, minimum 101.67, maximum 192.57. Connection type and dock are not stated in the report. |
| Notebookcheck, September 16, 2025; updated October 5, 2026 | Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p Ultra with FSR 4 Quality over USB4 on the Ally X: typically 60–70 FPS, with dips below 50. With frame generation, the reported average was around 120 FPS, with results fluctuating from 99 to 150 FPS. This is a separate test and configuration. |
Notebookcheck’s article also reports that, in its testing, an OCuLink connection on a Minisforum mini PC produced a more stable result than USB4 on the Ally X. It explains that external-link bandwidth can constrain performance relative to a direct desktop PCIe connection. That finding applies to the configurations it tested; it does not establish that every OCuLink setup will outperform every USB4 setup. Read Notebookcheck’s RX 9070 XT eGPU coverage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the report does—and does not—establish
- It establishes: GameGPU reported a 150.77 FPS average for one enthusiast benchmark using an RX 9070 XT eGPU, FSR 3.1 frame generation, and the listed settings.
- It does not establish: 151 native rendered FPS, typical performance across users, or a verified ROG Xbox Ally X model identity.
- It leaves unspecified: the dock and connection used for GameGPU’s benchmark. Notebookcheck’s Gtbox G-Dock, which supports OCuLink and USB4, belongs to a separate test and cannot be assumed to be part of GameGPU’s setup.
For readers evaluating a similar setup, the useful comparison is not the peak number alone. Check that resolution, game version, graphics and ray-tracing options, upscaling and frame-generation modes, connection, and benchmark method match. Without those details, a difference in FPS cannot be assigned to the handheld or graphics card alone.
