Rowan is Rocket Money’s AI financial assistant that you use through text messages. It can answer questions about connected accounts, send alerts before financial events, and—when you approve—help with subscriptions, bills, transactions, refunds, budgets and savings rules. Rowan is included with Rocket Money Premium+, listed at $15 per month plus tax, although plan terms can change.
What Rowan is and why the text channel matters
Traditional personal-finance tools make you open an app, find a dashboard and navigate to the right feature. Rowan is designed as a conversational layer over Rocket Money’s existing financial platform. Premium+ members can text Rowan through Rich Communication Services (RCS), so routine questions and requests do not require opening the Rocket Money app.
You can ask how much you spent in a category, request a transaction annotation, review a budget or ask for help with a subscription. Rowan can also initiate conversations itself, warning about spending changes, upcoming bills, unused trials, subscriptions and possible savings opportunities.

Answer questions and organize transactions
Rowan can use data from your connected finances to answer questions about spending. Documented functions include categorizing transactions, adding annotations and reviewing or building budgets. The quality of those answers depends on which accounts you connect and whether the transaction data imported by Rocket Money is complete and current.

Monitor trials and subscriptions
The assistant can track free trials and identify subscriptions that may require attention. Rocket Money describes a launch demonstration in which Rowan noticed a streaming trial before the paid billing date. After the user replied “cancel,” Rowan contacted the service, canceled the trial and confirmed the result. That is a product demonstration, not independent evidence that every cancellation will succeed.
Start bill negotiations and refund help
Rowan can initiate eligible bill-negotiation requests and help with refunds. A request may involve follow-up questions or a confirmation step before anything is submitted. Whether a negotiation is possible depends on the biller, account information and Rocket Money’s eligibility rules.

Set savings behaviors
Rowan can help establish savings rules. One Rocket Money example has a user text a rule to round up coffee purchases and transfer the change to a high-yield savings account. This is another company-described demonstration; it should not be treated as a guaranteed savings result or recommendation for a particular account.

Approval, safeguards and what “acts” means
Rocket Money says Rowan “acts, only when you see fit.” Its help documentation says actions that touch your money wait for your go-ahead, and Rowan may request clarification or confirmation before completing certain tasks. That distinction matters: asking Rowan to find an issue is different from authorizing a cancellation, negotiation request, transfer or other financial change.
- Information: Ask about spending, bills, categories or budgets.
- Preparation: Have Rowan identify a subscription, draft a budget change or prepare a request.
- Authorization: Confirm an eligible action when you are satisfied with the details.
- Result: Review Rowan’s completion message and verify the change with the merchant or account provider when the action is important.
Text confirmation is a useful control, but it is not a substitute for reviewing the recipient, amount, timing and terms of any money-affecting action. Keep notifications enabled and treat unexpected messages as a reason to pause rather than approve.
How much Rowan costs and who gets it
Rowan is included in Rocket Money’s highest membership tier, Premium+. Rocket Money help material lists Premium+ at $15 per month plus tax. The tier also lists bill negotiation and the ability to apply for Rocket Money’s high-yield savings account among its benefits.

A separate plan rule says bill negotiations submitted after November 2, 2026 carry no additional success fee under Premium+. Because pricing, taxes and plan rules are changeable, check the current Premium+ terms at signup before relying on that statement. The $15 figure is a recurring membership price, not a one-time Rowan fee.

Data, technology and privacy considerations
Rocket Companies says Rowan was developed with Anthropic and built as a system of AI agents using Rocket Money data. Rocket Money says Rowan operates inside its existing financial platform and follows the privacy and security practices it uses to protect more than 5 million accounts. That account figure is a Rocket Money company claim, not an independently audited statistic.
Before enabling Rowan, review which financial accounts are connected, what permissions are required and how to disconnect an account. Avoid sending passwords, one-time codes, full account numbers or other secrets by text. Verify that a message is genuinely from the service before approving an action, particularly if a phone number changes or a request looks unusual.

Where the evidence is still limited
Public descriptions establish what Rowan is designed to do and how Rocket Money says its approval flow works. They do not establish an independent accuracy rate, average amount saved, cancellation success rate or performance comparison against other financial assistants. Treat product examples as illustrations of intended workflows, not guarantees.
Rowan is most compelling for people who want quick, conversational access to their financial data and are comfortable reviewing confirmations. People who prefer manual control, do not want to connect accounts or need audited results should evaluate those trade-offs before paying for Premium+.

Practical setup checklist
- Confirm that Premium+ is available at the current price in your region and read the latest plan terms.
- Connect only the accounts you need, then check that balances and recent transactions imported correctly.
- Start with read-only questions about spending or subscriptions to learn how Rowan interprets your data.
- For an action, read every proposed detail and approve only the exact request you intend to make.
- After a cancellation, negotiation, refund or transfer, verify the result with the merchant or financial institution.
- Revisit connected-account permissions and messaging settings periodically, and disconnect accounts you no longer use.
