Rocket League’s competitive ladder runs from Bronze to Supersonic Legend, with numbered tiers and divisions showing progress within a rank. MMR is the matchmaking rating behind ranked progression, but there is no single current cutoff that applies across every playlist. Distribution percentages also need a season and playlist label before they can tell you how common a rank is.
What are all the Rocket League ranks?
The standard competitive rank tiers, in ascending order, are:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Champion
- Grand Champion
- Supersonic Legend
Most tiers have numbered ranks, such as Gold I, Gold II, and Gold III. The number refines your place within the tier; divisions refine it further. Epic Games Support describes the ladder as starting at Bronze and continuing through Silver, Gold, and higher ranks, and identifies Grand Champion and Supersonic Legend among the top ranks. Epic’s competitive-ranks guide gives Gold III Division II as an example and says the next rank is Platinum I.
What does Gold III Division II mean?
It means your displayed rank is Gold III, and Division II identifies your current subdivision within that rank. Divisions are progress markers inside a tier, not separate tiers in the overall ladder. In Epic’s example, moving up from Gold III Division II progresses toward Platinum I; the visible label is not an MMR number.

What is MMR, and what MMR do you need for each rank?
MMR means matchmaking rating: the rating system used for ranked matchmaking and progression. Your visible rank and division are the labels shown to you; MMR is the underlying rating. The official support material available for this guide explains ranks and divisions but does not provide current MMR thresholds.
There is no reliable universal cutoff table to give without specifying the playlist and the applicable season or version. Thresholds may differ between competitive playlists and can change. Treat any MMR chart as incomplete unless it states which playlist and version it covers; do not use a number from one playlist as a guaranteed cutoff in another.

What does a Rocket League rank distribution show?
A rank distribution reports what share of a defined population falls into each rank or rank grouping. It can help describe how common a rank was for a particular season and playlist, but a percentage alone does not establish what “average rank” means or where a player stands across modes.

The available Rundown excerpt does not establish the playlist scope or whether the figures aggregate whole tiers or use another grouping. Check the chart’s own labels before comparing these percentages or using them to infer a percentile. These are Season 22 figures, not verified Season 23 figures. Season 22 was scheduled to begin March 11, 2026, at 9 a.m. PT / 4 p.m. UTC, according to the official Season 22 launch notes.

Distribution is not one permanent statistic for the entire game. A meaningful comparison needs the same season, competitive playlist, unit of measurement, and population or methodology. For example, a 2v2 tier aggregate cannot safely be compared with a 3v3 division-level breakdown: they describe different modes and group players differently.

A September 2026 community post titled “Season 23 Rank Distribution” says moderators posted data provided directly by Psyonix. That indicates a later-season dataset may exist, but it is a secondary report, not independent official verification of the table. Without an official Season 23 table and its playlist labels, the Season 22 numbers above should not be presented as the latest distribution as of October 2026.

How to interpret your rank without overreading a chart
- Use the tier, numbered rank, and division together to read your displayed position on the ladder.
- Use an MMR threshold only when it names the playlist and season or version it applies to.
- Use a distribution percentage only when the season, playlist, grouping, and population are clear.
- Do not treat “average rank” as a single game-wide answer unless the source defines its playlist and calculation.
