Choose the Dreame L20 Ultra if your home has a mix of hard floors and carpet, rugs, pets, or toys and cables left on the floor. Its higher rated suction, higher mop lift, edge-cleaning extension, larger dock tanks, and stronger object recognition make it the more capable cleaner. Choose the Roborock Q Revo if you mainly have sealed hardwood, need a smaller dock, want the lower historical price, or value the more polished app.

The difference is not that one robot does everything better. The L20 Ultra spends more on cleaning hardware and dock automation; the Q Revo gives up some carpet and edge performance in exchange for value, a smaller base, and easier software.

Roborock Q Revo and Dreame L20 Ultra at a glance

The following figures combine current manufacturer specifications with an eight-week independent comparison published by The Home Picker in August 2026. Manufacturer numbers may describe laboratory conditions, while the test results are publisher-reported results from one 1,600-square-foot mixed-floor home.

What the Roborock Q Revo offers

The base Q Revo is a LiDAR robot with a 5,500Pa suction rating, a 350ml dustbin, an 80ml onboard water tank, and a 5,200mAh battery. Its dock automatically refills the robot’s water tank, empties dust, washes the mop pads with room-temperature water, and dries them at a 45-degree angle. Those functions let it run regular vacuum-and-mop schedules with less intervention than a conventional robot, although you still have to empty the dock’s dirty-water tank and replace consumables.

Its principal strengths are value, a smaller dock, and software. The independent comparison describes the Roborock app as responsive, feature-rich, and more polished than Dreamehome. On mostly hard floors, the lower suction rating did not create a noticeable pickup disadvantage in the comparison, and both robots performed near perfectly on hardwood.

What the Dreame L20 Ultra adds

The L20 Ultra is specified at 7,000Pa and uses a fully automatic base station. The dock washes the mop pads, dries them with warm air for up to two hours, refills the robot from a 4.5L clean-water tank, collects dirty water, empties dust, and automatically doses cleaning solution. Dreame describes its Pathfinder navigation as part of the robot’s mapping and avoidance system.

Dreame’s documentation says the robot can clean up to 3,229 square feet on one full base-station fill in a laboratory test. Its claimed 75-day dust-emptying interval is also a laboratory calculation; actual intervals depend on floor area, debris, pets, and cleaning frequency. Dreame’s product page states: “L20 Ultra thoroughly washes its mops in the base station any time they get too dirty and again when its cleaning task is complete.”

The hardware is aimed at homes where carpet, floor clutter, and edge debris make a basic robot work harder. The trade-off is a physically larger dock and an app that the comparison found less polished than Roborock’s.

Vacuuming and carpet performance

Why the suction ratings matter

On paper, 7,000Pa versus 5,500Pa gives the L20 Ultra a substantial airflow advantage. Pa is a suction-pressure specification, not a guarantee of cleaning percentage, and manufacturers do not test these ratings under one common standard. It is still a useful indicator when combined with an independent result.

Medium-pile carpet results

The Home Picker ran a single-pass baking-soda pickup test on medium-pile carpet and reported 96% recovery for the L20 Ultra versus 89% for the Q Revo. This was a publisher test, not a manufacturer laboratory measurement. The seven-percentage-point difference is meaningful if you have rugs, medium-pile carpet, tracked-in grit, or pet hair that settles below the surface. A robot may need additional passes on either machine for heavy debris.

Hard-floor pickup

The same comparison reported near-perfect pickup from hardwood for both models. If your home is almost entirely sealed wood, tile, or similarly smooth flooring, the Q Revo’s lower suction specification is less consequential. In that situation, dock size, app controls, and price can reasonably outweigh the L20 Ultra’s carpet advantage.

Mopping, mop lift, and edges

Mop-pad clearance over rugs

The L20 Ultra can lift its mop pads up to 10.5mm, while the comparison lists the Q Revo’s lift at 7mm. Extra clearance reduces the chance of a damp pad brushing a low or medium-pile rug during a combined cleaning run, but neither figure guarantees that every rug will remain dry. Set carpet-specific cleaning rules and check the first few runs, especially with thick or shag rugs.

Cleaning along walls and furniture

The L20 Ultra’s MopExtend system moves a mop toward edges instead of leaving the full width of the pad inside the robot’s body. In The Home Picker’s mop-mode testing, it cleaned wall edges about 30% better than the Q Revo. The exact percentage applies to that publisher’s test setup; it is not a universal floor-coverage guarantee.

Dried stains

The comparison reported that the L20 Ultra removed approximately 85% of dried stains, while the Q Revo left faint shadows on about 20% of test spots. These results indicate an advantage for the Dreame when a robot must handle dried food or drink marks, but a rotating-pad robot is not a substitute for treating thick or old stains manually. The amount of water, pad condition, number of passes, and flooring texture all affect the result.

Unsealed hardwood warning

Moisture can damage unsealed or moisture-sensitive wood. If your flooring manufacturer does not permit wet mopping, create no-mop zones or use vacuum-only schedules. Do not assume that a robot’s water control makes an unsealed floor safe.

Navigation and obstacle avoidance

Both robots use LiDAR mapping, so each can build room maps, identify spaces, and plan repeatable routes rather than moving randomly. Their avoidance systems differ in how they recognize objects close to the floor.

The comparison found that the L20 Ultra’s AI-powered RGB camera combined with 3D sensing identified shoes, cables, and pet toys more reliably than the Q Revo’s reactive 3D system. The Q Revo handled larger obstacles well, but small objects were more likely to be encountered rather than confidently avoided. If your household regularly leaves charging cables, socks, toys, or pet items in cleaning lanes, the Dreame’s avoidance advantage can prevent interruptions and tangled brushes.

No camera or 3D system eliminates the need to prepare a room. Cables can be thin, reflective, or positioned outside the sensor’s field of view; a newly introduced object may not be recognized consistently; and avoidance behavior can change with firmware. Keep fragile items and long cords off the floor before the first scheduled run.

Dock capacity and maintenance

Water capacity

The comparison lists the Q Revo dock at 3.5L for clean water and 3.5L for dirty water. It lists the L20 Ultra at 4.5L clean and 4L dirty. The larger Dreame reservoirs reduce refill and emptying frequency for a large home or frequent mop washing. They also contribute to the dock’s larger footprint.

Washing and drying

Both docks wash the rotating pads and dry them with hot or warm air. The Q Revo specification describes room-temperature mop washing and 45-degree mop drying. Dreame specifies two-hour warm-air drying. Drying helps limit persistent damp odors, but the wash tray, dirty-water tank, filters, and mop pads still need periodic cleaning.

Dust emptying and solution

Both systems automatically empty the robot’s dustbin. The L20 Ultra additionally doses cleaning solution from the base station. The advertised 75-day emptying interval for the Dreame is a laboratory calculation, not a promise for every household. A home with multiple pets or frequent high-suction runs can fill a dust bag much sooner.

Consumables

Plan for model- and region-specific mop pads, dust bags, filters, and approved cleaning solution. Compatibility must be checked against the exact Q Revo or L20 Ultra variant sold in your country; accessories that fit a similarly named model may not seal or report correctly.

App experience and controls

The Home Picker described Roborock’s app as more responsive and feature-rich. That matters when you regularly edit room maps, schedule separate vacuum and mop runs, set no-go or no-mop zones, or review a cleaning history. A polished app can reduce the time spent correcting maps or waiting for commands to apply.

Dreamehome is improving but was described as less polished in the comparison. The L20 Ultra’s hardware can still be the better fit, but buyers who expect the smoothest software workflow should weigh that trade-off. App menus, firmware behavior, supported voice assistants, and regional features can change after an update, so confirm the current app listing and supported functions for your market.

Dock size, installation, and daily space

The Q Revo is the easier choice when the base must fit in a narrow apartment, beside a cabinet, or in a hallway with limited depth. The comparison calls its dock more compact. The L20 Ultra’s larger base occupies more room but stores more clean and dirty water and includes automatic solution dosing.

Whichever model you choose, place the dock on a level, dry surface with the clearance specified in its current manual. Leave enough open floor for the robot to approach and depart without clipping furniture. Keep the dock near a power outlet and a location where you can lift out water tanks and access the wash tray without moving the entire station.

Price and value

The dated August 2026 comparison placed the Q Revo at $749 and the L20 Ultra at $899, a $150 difference at the time of that comparison. Those are historical reference prices, not current offers. Sales, regional taxes, bundles, and replacement-part availability can change the value calculation.

At an equivalent price, the L20 Ultra’s extra suction, higher mop lift, edge extension, larger tanks, and object recognition make it the stronger hardware package. If the Q Revo is substantially cheaper in your region and your floors are mostly hardwood, its cleaning result may be close enough that the saved money is more valuable than the additional features.

Which one fits your home?

Choose the Dreame L20 Ultra for mixed floors, pets, or clutter

Select the L20 Ultra when carpet pickup, rug clearance, edge mopping, and obstacle avoidance are frequent concerns. Its 96% medium-pile single-pass result in the comparison, 10.5mm lift, MopExtend design, and stronger small-object recognition directly address those conditions. Larger water tanks also suit homes that want long unattended mopping schedules.

Choose the Roborock Q Revo for mostly hardwood and a tighter budget

The Q Revo is sensible for predominantly sealed hardwood or tile, particularly when the dated or current sale price leaves a meaningful gap. Both robots were reported to perform near perfectly on hardwood, so paying for the L20 Ultra’s carpet advantage may not be necessary.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the Q Revo for a constrained dock location

If a larger base would block a walkway, cabinet door, or storage area, the Q Revo’s more compact dock is a practical advantage. Measure the available space and the tank-removal path rather than comparing only the robot’s round footprint.

Choose the L20 Ultra for a large home

The L20 Ultra’s 4.5L clean-water and 4L dirty-water capacities, plus automatic solution dosing, reduce dock interventions compared with the Q Revo’s listed 3.5L/3.5L tanks. That is most useful when the robot mops frequently across a large floor area.

Setup practices that improve either robot

  1. Map with the floor clear. Remove cables, socks, toys, pet bowls, and fragile objects so the first LiDAR map reflects usable routes.
  2. Label rooms and surfaces. Correct room boundaries and identify carpeted areas before creating vacuum-only or combined schedules.
  3. Create no-mop zones for sensitive flooring. Do this for unsealed wood or any surface whose manufacturer prohibits moisture.
  4. Set carpet behavior deliberately. Use the robot’s carpet-boost or vacuum-only options where available, and check that the selected mop-lift behavior leaves rugs dry.
  5. Inspect the first completed run. Look for wet rug edges, missed thresholds, stuck cables, and places where the dock approach is blocked; adjust maps and zones immediately.
  6. Maintain the dock. Empty dirty water, refill clean water, clean the wash tray and filters, and replace pads, bags, and filters according to the manual and actual condition rather than relying only on a calendar.

Important limits on the comparison

  • The Home Picker’s carpet, edge, stain, and obstacle findings came from an eight-week test in one 1,600-square-foot mixed-floor home, so they show comparative behavior in that environment rather than a universal ranking.
  • The 7,000Pa, 5,500Pa, tank, battery, and mop-lift figures are specifications from manufacturers or the comparison and are not measurements made under one shared laboratory protocol.
  • Dreame’s 3,229-square-foot coverage and 75-day dust-emptying statements are based on laboratory conditions or calculations; pet hair, debris volume, room layout, and cleaning frequency change real-world intervals.
  • Prices, stock, app features, firmware, and regional specifications are volatile. Verify the exact model and current listing before purchase.

Final verdict

The Dreame L20 Ultra robot vacuum is the better all-round cleaner for mixed flooring, carpet, pets, clutter, and larger homes where edge work and less frequent tank service matter. The Roborock Q Revo robot vacuum is the better value-oriented choice for mostly hardwood homes, compact spaces, and buyers who prioritize a polished app and lower purchase cost. Pick based on your floors and dock constraints first; the headline suction difference matters far less on smooth hard flooring than it does on carpet.
